It’s a lot easier to improve a bad team than a treble winning team, but Brendan Rodgers has the latter challenge ahead this summer. One of his principle objectives will be to retain Stuart Armstrong on a new deal. As CQN reported this morning, good progress has been made on that front.
Loving the updates from the Celtic FC Foundation delegation, currently in Malawi with Mary’s Meals. You can follow the remarkable updates from LeftyBhoy here.
This work is being done in your name, with funds you helped raise. Keep an eye on what is being achieved.
Just landed for two days R&R in Belfast. Not been since the mid-90s……….. Off to find a pub and some rich culture…… Recommendations welcome but no messing!!!

Hmmm indeed.
I wonder whose interests Mr Barwell was protecting, because it certainly wasnt the poor people who had to live there.
This goes deeper.

‘ill-fated pop at the board’
##
I’d suggest that events have vindicated my views about the Board.
Having watched the news and listened to the input of experts regarding the rapid spread of that awful fire there was definitely something not right about that refurb. Hopefully people have not lost their lives due to other people’s greed, but I won’t hold my breath as it was always thus.
BT are you going to the Beer Cafe on Saturday?

‘On the sixth anniversary of the deadly Lakanal House fire, an Inside Housing investigation finds that only a few councils are following the coroner’s recommendation and retrofitting their tower blocks with sprinklers.’

No real argument there,I largely agreed with you-and frequently criticised them much more.
But if asked,I would have taken the opportunity to explain my opinions in person.
I have done, often. But to do so to the people I was criticising would have been an opportunity I would not have missed.
It was your call to make,I would have made the opposite one.

Regulation…why thats just ‘Red Tape’
That will only stifle the profit margin.
Cant be having that.
1900, or 2017…..whats the difference.

I don’t know what material was used to clad the building, but it was clearly flammable. You can see it dropping in flaming chunks, and was possibly responsible for the rapid conflagration.
‘Sprinklers will save lives in tower blocks. What we won’t know is how many, because people don’t die when sprinklers are installed.’

People in authority divest themselves of responsibility, they ‘learn lessons’ now.
Pitiful.

The criticisms I made were made publicly. Any response could have been made publicly.
No one from the Club was going to tell me anything they couldn’t risk getting into the public domain, so why the need for the frankly patronising and condescending offer of a privileged private meeting?
If it is proven that corners were cut and non-approved materials were used then ALL of those responsible and those who knew about it need to be jailed. Apparently there are several hundred fires a year in high rise flats but they are always contained in the flat in which they arose.
BMCUW, yes the outside of the building is quite clearly ablaze.
The residents in that Tower, warned last year that the company who ran the flats, needed held to account, and that only a tragedy would bring it to light.
Looks like they were right, and were ignored.

‘Playing with Fire: The Grenfell Action Group
Check it out
The building needs to have a fire risk assessment completed by a qualified person, these are completed annually. Whether that is in place and what the contents are will be a vital point of reference for the investigation.
THETIMREAPER
The tenants warned this would happen, they were ignored.
The company who ran the flats….did nothing.
HH
THETIMREAPER
There should be monthly checks also. Apparently this was not the case as fire-fighting equipment was found to have been removed from station and condemned, without being replaced.
Blame can wait-and I suspect we will wait a long time for it!-but meantime it can’t be denied that the tenants knew they lived in a building with a higher risk than necessary, and their warning and pleas were ignored.
As I mentioned earlier,it’s doubtful that the owners of a similar building housing corporate clients would have been allowed such a cavalier disregard to safety.
The Tim Reaper was the 1st to inform us of the Action groups warning at 8.16 this morning…

Thoughts and prayers with everyone affected in London. Fatalities have been confirmed.
This makes for grim reading,
https://grenfellactiongroup.wordpress.com/2016/11/20/kctmo-playing-with-fire/
Clearly, its not the safety of the tenants that is the prime concern here.
Obviously they dont matter. What matters, is that they pay.
Thats the reality.
This is what the scramble for profit does.

Rumours starting that McInnes might take Hayes to Sunderland and ‘scupper’ Celtics bid for the player.

WTF,we’re all desperate for fitba’ news and you give us news of a likely non-signing?
Nice one, mate. I struggle to see how he fits our current style.
HH.

It seems this a problem from the top down. There will undoubtedly be a number of breaches of applicable law for which the housing association and the council will face the consequences. But what does it say when those in Parliament are more interested in profit than the welfare of citizens. These kind of conflicts of interest should be outlawed.
Offski, leave you with this,as previously mentioned by someone else.

When I heard we had signed Coffey, I thought it was the big guy from ‘the Green Mile’. Bobo’s big brother-))
BMCUWP
As i said. Hope it happens. We need to up our standard of signing to progress in Europe. Hayes is ok for SPL, no more than that.
Also read that one about us signing Barry Coffey which i personally love. A guy i know, a currant. is called Coffey. He will be livid to see his name on a Hoops shirt! Made my day that. HH
Should we nip in an sign Harry Forrester?
Well we’ve got a Forrest. :-)
Rangers(sic) have announced an extended deal with current sponsor 32red. Which is a coincidence, as its now the average age of the squad.
Are 32 Red at the wind up?.Not a glimpse of their brand during the Galactico signings. No strips being sold bearing their Logo.None in the future either it seems.Oh,wait a minute, this guy seems to have the answer,

Please And Thank-you CSC.
Good afternoon all.
Now the dust has settled on the NAFCSC, and my hands have stopped shakingallowing me to type, I’d like to thank every Tim that I shared a swally with.
Particular mention to Calibhoy and his lhads from the Sonoma CSC for their gracious company, anyone that gives his credit bard to the barmaid and says it’s on me is my kind of Tim :-) My missus enjoyed herself immensely, and was once again overawed by the sea of green and white.
Thanks also to the Coatbridge Tims for the use of their prime real estate table, with a special mention and congratulations to big Willie on his retirement. He’ll be back soon to visit he says, and take up our offer of accommodation, god help us.
If you’ve never attended the NAFCSC, get over here next year. It’s quite the experience, especially when you have a Lisbon Lion strolling about as a gracious and accommodating social host.
Just seen footage of London fire, if there are only 6 dead it’s a miracle. The building looks a typical inner city tower block from the 60s.The outside fabric of any building shouldn’t burn, the only fire spread you might see is from a window, getting caught by wind and catching another window frame, even that is rare.AT i read a few ex colleages are injured, hope they are ok HH
Going by the shortfall with posts, wil the hootenanny be a quiet day out on Saturday?
I’ll be going so if you’re lurking and going get on the list.
Just been told 80 odd unaccounted for…….shocking, building well occupied at that time of night…
Dreadful scenes in London, watched one of the residents involved in petitioning the council regards fire safety interviewed by Victoria Derbyshire earlier, he was breaking his heart.
God Bless all of the souls who perished in the fire, I suspect it will be over a hundred in the end.
If the external cladding is found to be the major cause of the fire spreading as quickly as it did then someone should go to prison for that, an utter disgrace.
