Artur, Fraser, Craig and Wee Woodsy

I watched Fraser Forster (29) deny Liverpool on Sunday with a series of impressive saves, one of which from the penalty spot. The big keeper improved enormously in his four years at Celtic. Another FA Premier League ‘keeper, Artur Boruc (37), spent five years at Celtic, a period which was marked with some vagaries in form.

Boruc arrived as the best keeper we had seen in decades, but two seasons in a mooted moved to Bayern Munich (who travelled to Glasgow to see him) were off the agenda. Boruc’s form had dived and he was no longer considered in the elite category.

Craig Gordon (34) was an excellent keeper under Ronny Deila but when Brendan Rodgers arrived a weakness became evident in Craig’s game: he wasn’t comfortable with Brendan’s passing game, which required keepers to be good with their feet.

Craig was dropped and didn’t make the start of the Champions League campaign, but eight months on he looks like he was born to play this way. The transformation in form has been remarkable.

Stevie Woods worked with all three keepers. He was the formative influence on Fraser, he rescued Artur from ignominious decline and with Craig Gordon he took a senior keeper and transformed his game.

We’ll talk later about Brendan Rodger’s striking ability to improve players, but there can scarcely be a goalkeeper coach in Britain with a more impressive track record in this regard than “Wee Woodsy”.

So all we need is a tape excerpt where Murray says to Whyte to get a loan from Ticketus and we’re done?

  5. McGills confirmation of the date 17th March 2011….Does that contradict what Murray previously stated in Court ?

does it prove that they lied to SFA….or SFA REGAN lied at later date ?

    Help !

I was delighted when Stubbs signed,I thought the world of him.

Aye,really. I’d watched him down in England-the same way I’d watched Pallaister ten years earlier-and saw the same thing.

He didn’t let me down, although I was disappointed he didn’t sign a new contract.

And for scoring that last minute header v the huns, while I celebrated in a rather pleasant establishment in Kilwinning with my Dad,sorry,Rieper just gets nosed out(!)

Donald Findlay QC asks McGill if demerger of Murray metals was “connected with the sale of Rangers Football Club?”

    Reply “yes”

What happened to “no benefit for Murray”?

Agree,Stubbs over Rieper. But i’d have Virgil,Paul Elliot and Bobo before the two of them. With Johan only pushed out because he could play in midfield as well as defence.

    Dream partnership…Van Dyke and Elliot.

The actual date that RFC became aware that the tax bill became enforceable was not actually categorically stated, but it was before the 17th. Aulheid would confirm which date the licence to play in Europe was granted by Reagan’s SFA. Academic though, because RFC within the rules which as a member club they had signed up to, had an ethical obligation to inform the SFA of the change of status, and if they did, if they did… why did the SFA not act upon the revised information?

The bank sold the Metals Group back to Murray for a pound. That came out in previous testimony.

Yes it did; but after that it was clearly stated that the sale of Rangers would not benefit Murray; from what I understand here, Murray knew before the sale of Rangers that it would benefit him, so calls into question the veracity of his evidence to the court.

  22. Surely the overriding principle of ‘caveat emptor’ applies and the buyer is the one doing the ‘due diligence’.

Unless of course willful deception on behalf of the seller was involved – this seems to be Findlay’s approach.
