I watched Fraser Forster (29) deny Liverpool on Sunday with a series of impressive saves, one of which from the penalty spot. The big keeper improved enormously in his four years at Celtic. Another FA Premier League ‘keeper, Artur Boruc (37), spent five years at Celtic, a period which was marked with some vagaries in form.
Boruc arrived as the best keeper we had seen in decades, but two seasons in a mooted moved to Bayern Munich (who travelled to Glasgow to see him) were off the agenda. Boruc’s form had dived and he was no longer considered in the elite category.
Craig Gordon (34) was an excellent keeper under Ronny Deila but when Brendan Rodgers arrived a weakness became evident in Craig’s game: he wasn’t comfortable with Brendan’s passing game, which required keepers to be good with their feet.
Craig was dropped and didn’t make the start of the Champions League campaign, but eight months on he looks like he was born to play this way. The transformation in form has been remarkable.
Stevie Woods worked with all three keepers. He was the formative influence on Fraser, he rescued Artur from ignominious decline and with Craig Gordon he took a senior keeper and transformed his game.
We’ll talk later about Brendan Rodger’s striking ability to improve players, but there can scarcely be a goalkeeper coach in Britain with a more impressive track record in this regard than “Wee Woodsy”.

A grave offence, wrongly attributing your description of the tribute act to Hunderbirds. I know in your new life arrangement you’ll need all the credit you can get, for anything!

That’s alright, easily done. That’s true – in the past two weeks I’ve decorated two rooms of the house and the only response from my darling wife was, “When are the skirting boards getting done?”.
P.S. Loving the accent thing you’ve got going on. I’m reading your posts out in the voice of the Policeman from ‘Allo ‘Allo
I’m glad the accent puns have ceased. Woulda been a grave mistake to continue.

Oh aye, everyone’s a dia-critic…

Peen- yata, señor.
Well this is a new one. A club chairman betting against his own club. (Allegedly).
####
‘A club chairman who was recently elected as an SNP councillor has been charged with placing more than 4,000 bets on football matches.
Henry McClelland, chairman of Annan Athletic, has been issued with a notice of complaint by the Scottish Football Association after being accused of breaching strict rules on gambling.
He is alleged to have placed more than 550 bets involving his own team, including four placed against the club.
In total, he is said to have placed 4,011 bets dating back to July 2011.
Mr McClelland was elected to Dumfries and Galloway Council at last week’s council elections.
He did not respond to a request for comment last night. He has until next Tuesday to respond to the SFA notice of complaint, with a principal hearing set for Thursday, 1 June.
Also charged yesterday was Inverness midfielder Lewis Horner, who is alleged to have placed 12 accumulator bets during the period from 1 July, 2011 to 30 June, 2012, including two which featured bets against his own club.
In a statement, his club said the player had previously suffered from problems with gambling and had sought professional help. It added: “He is very contrite and is extremely embarrassed to have brought this upon himself and the club.
“Whilst it is disappointing, he has fully co-operated with the club in this matter and we will offer him all the support possible in dealing with this.
“The matter is still under review and, until such time as that is complete, neither the club or player will be making any further comment.”

Proceedings resume, the Advocate Depute says agreement has been reached on a new “joint minute”
#WhyteTrial
A “joint minute of agreement” contains facts agreed by both sides as proved, these are read out so evidence does not need to be called
Geordie Munro
Just checked. She fell out with a Gerry Munro once, and now wants to know why I’m mentioning her on CQN! Fall -out on the way!
Oh, and by the way, I’d already made a ‘grave’ pun, but I won’t fall out with you about it.

Tony, this old University Rhebel fan Section 111 agrees with you 100%.
Separate the man from the football player; his charitable works are commendable, but his behaviour in mallon was not fitting of a Celtic Player.

Good luck getting 60 seconds of agreement on here!
All the talk last night from Phil about upgrading the main stand,I remember a few years ago the club had plans and pictures of a huge glass front for the main stand,I’ve tried to find them but had no joy.
Anyone on here remember this that can maybe help me out?

My friends in Celtic,
When Kris Commons threw his boots into the crowd at Hamilton that should have been it.
He would then have left with universal support and thanks. IMO of course.
Maybe Lisa will now be looking for Linda, but nevertheless Lisa’s contributions to the Celtic cause will always be appreciated. Indeed her actions spoke louder than words.

What a lump of wid that Teresa May is….braindead.
Total charlatan.
Now we are getting the stupidity of the ‘Marxist’ scare.
Labour are Marxists seemingly.
100 years now that the Tories have been on this one, its getting a bit boring now.
The stupidity is horrific.

SFTB: Condolences on the loss of your mother so soon after your brother.
Candles lit for both in St Winin’s and a prayer said for their souls. RIP.
I loved KC’s, strop when he was subbed in the euro game, showed his passion for the team and as unlikely as it is I would welcome an appearance from him at paradise before he bow’s out of Celtic. I doubt I’ll receive any other kind of opportunity to show my appreciation for the wee orc slaying man. He was a hunskelper of the highest order and for periods singlehandedly kept our goal scoring momentum going.
Having said that, his time is up and I will always love what he done in his time in hoops.
Now get yer fingers oot yer arses and get some raffle tickets for BRTH’s big swally raffle………:_)

Oh that’s right , wee Jinky always got on like a house on fire with Big Jock…..not comparing the 2 as players by the way….
…..just what ACGR said……
A CEILER GONOF RUST :
I agree mate, Kris Commons had a passion for our club and he just wanted to win. His passion was made manifest in a frustrated tantrum. Brendan Rodgers might just owe his present employment., and we might all owe the pleasure of this season, to that very tantrum.
Bada Bing, we should form our own stroppy basturt clique:_)
I’ll need to see if ma size 22 will allow it though.
I liked Kris Commons. I disliked his strop.
A cameo appearance wouldn’t bother me.
The truth is though, when BR came in it was clear that KC did not fit Celtic anymore.
I believe it was the great philosopher of our time, Neil Hannon, who said, “It’s hard to get by, when your arse is the size of a small country”.
Academics have long debated whether Hannon was actually referring to a basket of arses.
Maybe if the whole team at that time had the same attitude as KC….we wouldnt have been so poor.
I didnt blame him for losing the plot with non triers…..KC did his bit for Celtic ok.
HH
A CEILER GONOF RUST :
Perfectly honest, none of us wants to slate Ronnie, especially not now that he has gone, but only the kindest fool would not admit that his ability to coach a team at Champions League level was beyond his limitations. Nice guy and I wish him all the best, I think we all do.
“Maybe Lisa will now be looking for Linda”
Greenpinata,
I can’t see what all the hue and cry is about regarding commons.
HH
DAVIDOPULOS:
I don’t think Kris Commons physically could play the pressing game and get back to defend when bypassed, that BR’s preferred. Kris just didn’t have the legs nor the stamina (Paddy McCourt) I don’t think there was any doubt about his ability nor his commitment to the cause on Kris’s part.

Advocate Depute to Withey, “What did you do?”

Withey: to Advocate Deputy “I’m not trying to be dim, but I don’t know what you are asking me.”
Agrees he helped negotiate the Share Purchase Agreement.
A Stor Mha Chroi
Absolutely. When the ball is at KC’s feet he is good (provided he had his alloted 3 touches to get the ball under control), but his deficiencies were too many for Celtic to progress as a modern team with him playing in it.
Withey says “many many people were working on this transaction” says he can’t pronounce the second name of one
And this is a prosecution witness.

Reminds me of a comment I read on a Notts Forest forum ages ago when the stuff about KC and Gerrards wife popped up.
One guy said they were both shopping for jeans in the maternity aisle in Topshop.
