On Friday, after the Sparta debacle, I predicted, “There is worse to come”, it did not take long. Losing at home by two goals to Ross County is worse than losing by three goals away to Sparta Prague. If you were surprised, you have not been paying attention, Ross County were a punter’s dream. Celtic are dysfunctional, vulnerable to anyone prepared to put their bodies in the way and take their chance at corner kicks.
The biggest concern I have is the message the players get from persistently overhauling roles and tactics; going from four at the back, to three, to four and back to three. Add to this how Christie and Elyounoussi play a variety of roles: wide, middle, off the striker, and we shuffle between one and two up front.
If you are a player, you interpret this as, “We have no faith in our plan and we don’t know what to do about it.” At least in this respect, the manager, players, you and me all believe the same thing.
When will it end? Soon, I hope. St Johnstone visit in six days and they are more potent than Ross County.
Reports of missiles being thrown at our players outside Celtic Park yesterday evening beggars belief. Across the world, on a variety of issues, you see anger whipped up in online echo chambers. This has consequences: some bring that anger into their personal interactions, some gather to demonstrate.
A smaller percentage of them have no boundaries. Fuelled by the echo chamber and the crowd around them, they resort to violent acts, which Mr Angry behind his keyboard can condemn. The violence is a consequence of entitled anger and together they make it more difficult to resolve the situation. Imagine how you would react if you were a player?
A football team has come off the rails after winning a record 11 consecutive domestic trophies. For a club that has known so many hard times, it was a pitiful bookend to this historic period.

I’m not a fan of conspiracies and I have no source for this, just an opinion.
But I reckon Desmond is silently expecting Celtic to get thumped in Milan then let Lennon go before St Johnstone.
That way, he can save face and say he wasn’t pressured by the fans but still remove a manager who has clearly lost his way.
If Celtic were to get a result in Milan (I know I know….) then he’d be left in a strange situation.
I suppose most self made billionaires like DD have a good conceit of themselves , but to take a stance against almost all of the Celtic fanbase is beyond conceit .
When will he consider NL to have had enough time to turn it around? If we drop points in the next league game? The next two league games? Three? Four?
If , or more likely when it all backfires on him , I would not want to be in his shoes , for all his millions .
All because 0.000001 % of Celtic fans pissed him off?

Maybe don’t have to look as far as Burma for guidance.
There was an ancient practice in Ireland called Troscud. I remember reading about it in relation to the hunger strikes.
‘It involved sitting outside the home of someone who had done you an injustice and fasting from dawn to dusk. During this time, the misdemeanour became common knowledge, and shame was brought upon the wrongdoer if he allowed the injured party to fast while he continued to eat.’
He may be a hun but I think Laudrup has got this spot on.
“To me, part of the problem in Celtic’s current circumstance is that, for a long time, all the hype has been solely about ten-in-a row not the process of how you get there and what you have to do to win it.
“It has almost been viewed as an event that will happen rather than an achievement to be earned. The relentless nature of that talk has really got to some people.”
From the complacency of the board down to some of the support singing about 10IAR when we were on about 5 or 6, I think this is it in a nutshell.
Why not a silent protest ,walk round the Celtic Way social distancing obviously.🚶🏽♂️🚶🏽♂️🚶🏽♂️🚶🏽♂️🚶🏻♀️🚶🏻♀️🚶🏻♀️🚶🏻♀️🕺🏼

Shame on this Celtic board another reason why we need change.
Anyone fancy a protest at Celtic park.

‘I don’t think they can get another Manager to take it.’
###
Could well be the case.
Prospective candidates and their agents probably have some idea about the peculiar power imbalances within the Celtic setup.
______________________________________________________________________
I don’t think this is true in any way. Have we all forgotten all the basket cases of clubs here and around the world who’ve had criminal chairmen or owners in charge and there has been a queue of prospective managers looking for the job when it arises?
While the Celtic job is not on the list of the very best out there there are lots of really good managers who would love to manage our club. Do you really think that the ‘interference’ of the playing staff and managers is something which only happens at Celtic?
Plus ca change

‘there there are lots of really good managers who would love to manage our club. ‘
##
And your evidence for that is?
VP – You are right just seen a brass monkey run by the office window.
Fanand – Silent protest or not Sevco’s finest, sorry Strathclyde’s finest would wade into us, i will be that key board warrior/hard man that Paul was talking about the other day. :)

“Winning the league with a team that went bust after? Sounds quite impressive and suggests he can win with clubs struggling off the field.”
Not to me it doesn’t. It sugests that a team was financially doped to win a league with wages and investment it could not sustain- like Gretna and Sevco.
In winning recent Romanian Leagues with Cluj, he has merely done as well as the soon-to-depart Neil Lennon. He was not evaluated as Romanian coach of the year for any of his league winning titles with Cluj- I think there are better candidates out there.
We recruit the likes of a Barkas or a Scott Bain or Scott Allan because they once played a good game against us – we need to escape that kind of World Cup Scouting.
A lot of our reported targets, come from fans wishes, and I think are unrealistic (Pochettini, Benitez, Rangnik etc) and are based on us getting an ex-Liverpool manager in Brendan Rodgers, forgetting that he was unemployed at the time. Brendan was an outlier and like many EPL managers (Howe, Garcia , Silva etc;) will use us as a stepping stone back to an EPL gig.
We have normally recruited from more humble backgrounds- Hay from Motherwell, Macari from 3rd division Stoke, Jansen from Sanfrecce Hiroshima etc;
We don’t and cannot compete with the EPL for players and we are unlikey to do so for managers.
We have a choice between apppointing Jack Ross types who were deemed, unfairly, to be failures in England, who might stick around for a bit longer, or go for a Howe or a Silva who might do us some good but will leave early once they have rehabilitated their reputation.
I cannot find any cognitive dissonance in me for holding the following two views:-
1) It will be ecessary for DD to arrange a new manager for Celtic fairly soon
&
2) It was right not to do on the eve or morning after an Ultra-style protest at CP
It may only be a small curtain of time between the decisions, but it is important that we are not seen to tie the sacking decision to the protest event. I do not want that grouping of young men to be able to claim- “We got Lennon sacked”
SFTB @ 11:18am,
EPL managers earn silly money but club wouldn’t need to look there. Take Serie A for example. Conte is said to be on 12m euro while average salary for rest of the league is around 2m. Imagine a tactical savy coach taking on Sevco with our player quality.
Does DD have the foresight, ambition or motivation? Doesn’t appear so.
Football is fickle, especially supporters.
A short while ago many monikers had reference to solidarity with Neil Lennon.
There was also many sign offs with HWG10IAR.
Like snow off a dyke.

You’re moving the goalposts a little.
I’m not saying he’s the ideal candidate and if we scrutinise every detail of his career I’m sure we can find flaws.
I simply took issue with the point that he’s no better than WGS and MON when in the modern-day he clearly is. He actually won the last three titles (something that is starting to look beyond Lennon) and achieved similar results in Europe despite a much smaller budget. Give Petrescu Lennon’s budget and vice-versa…..
There probably are better candidates….who in your opinion would these be?
So just when is enough, enough.
We’re relying on
a) sevco imploding, which current results suggest not plus if ever in trouble they’ll get a penalty, possible ? Yes
b) Lenny turning it around
Deludemol must be readily available
I wouldn’t mind if a young progressive manager came in, gave us three great years and then moved on…just like players do. It’s the environment we’re in and if a manager was to “stick around” and not attract attention from elsewhere, it’d suggest there are things he’s not doing right.
Maybe there is a bigger picture than 10iar

Hunned-up meeja drunks take opportunity to further divide and doubtless hope to konquer Timdom.

Your Silas Marner act is starting to wear a bit thin.
There is nothing holding us back apart from our own insecurities and a lack of ambition.
EPL prospect — play for us or sit on the bench in Burnley?
These people oversaw the character assassination of Brendan Rodgers via their media mouthpieces.
Brendan Rodgers is not the rat. The PLC board are the rats.
Petrescu was the manager of Unirea who defeated Sir Walter’s stalwarts at Ibrox. He noticed how Rangers had set up and after only 20 minutes took off a midfielder and replaced him with a striker and then proceeded to whip the Huns 4-0 or 4-1.
McPhail Boy……
Would these Managers who would love to manage our club, be the ones that diligently submitted their CV’s last time? ……only for Peter to state publicly that he didn’t even bother reading them ? You see……….there’s no point in just wanting the job…..it has to suit Peter. And would we want another Manager, who is happy to accept such interference? Doesn’that always end badly ?
In a parallel universe, I would see Claude Puel appointed manager. Tactically very astute, French obviously and one would hope could get Eddie & Ncham firing for us. Those 2 are key to our season turning around. Puel could also identify couple of Jan signings from Ligue 1 to sort out our midfield shape.
He is at St.Etienne now I believe….I can only dream.

“There is nothing holding us back apart from our own insecurities and a lack of ambition.”
Am I to assume that you are The Master of The Universe in your own particular trade or sphere?
And that you have exhausted your own personal ambitions, having ticked them all off early in your life, and you are now offering to loan your ambition to the Celtic football club?
Or are you asking someone else to do this for you and mis-calling that as ambition?
P.S. Have you recently just left a job in a large White Building in the U.S.?
If we’re talking about salvaging the 10, a new manager coming in at the time of a critical run of home games, who doesn’t know players, club or politics of current situation is just as bad as keeping Lennon or promoting Kennedy. Tough call but i’d stick with Lennon and team, pray for the wins and an injection of cup silverware to newly cement the pride and resolve to go all out for the 10 as a last hurrah before they all piss off to where they want to be. Simple. 😆 No easy answers.
BHOY FROM THE BOYNE on 1ST DECEMBER 2020 11:54 AM
That will be the Claude Puel whose St Etienne have taken two points from their last 27?
I know it’s easy to bat away names people are putting up in good faith, but frankly the job of identifying a manager is the responsibility of Lawwell and Desmond.

What have the following two lists in common?:-
Kenny Dalglish, Lou Macari, Murdo McLeod, John Collins, Paolo Di Canio, Pierre Van Hoojdonk, Jorge Cadete, Marko Viduka, Stan Petrov, Chris Sutton, Ki Sung yeung, Shaun Maloney, Gary Hooper, Artur Boruc, Kelvin Wilson, Eyal Berkovic, Aiden McGeady, Victor Wanyama, Fraser Forster, Virgil Vab Dijk, Stuart Armstrong, Moussa Dembele & Kieran Tierney.
&
Terry Butcher, Chris Woods, Gary Stevens, Trevor Steven, Mark Walters, Mark Hately, Butch Wilkins, Paul Gascoine, Alexei Michaelichenko, Oleg Kuznetsov,Mikel Arteta, and one’s called Ronald- one’s called Frank.
Yes, we can persuade unused reserves like Frimpong and Musonda to leave tehir academy status but no- it is hard to get players from the benches at Southampton (Forster) or West Ham (Snodgrass) because their wages are out of sync with their ability vis-a-vis the rest of our squad
