Ashely hates conflict

725

We’ve often talked about the only real danger to a football club: internecine strife:

Internecine, def: pertaining to conflict within a group, mutually destructive.

In football, your enemies can’t inflict permanent harm, that can only come from within.  This morning’s media cover threats from Sevconians to boycott (clearly in homage to Irish tradition) club/company products.  More power to their elbows, they should boycott every piece of tat Newco’s disparate IP rights holders churn out, apart from the occasional novelty duck.

Here’s the thing, before you turn the tanks inwards, you’d better be sure you’ve got the ‘What happens next?’ question sorted.  If you don’t, you’re playing a real life version of Lemmings.

Threatening Mike Ashley?  Aye sure, that’ll work, knock yourself out.  I’m sure Ashley’s known as a big pussy, he hasn’t got the money to face down the malcontents, either.  I bet he’s already writing his capitulation letter, “Dear Sevconians, by noticing that I can’t handle conflict you’ve outsmarted me.  The game’s up.”

What was it Charles Green told John Brown he would do to Ibrox?  Hmmm.

Blame the SFA, SPL, BBC, Celtic, Her Majesty’s lawyers, the Daily Record and Raith Rovers but you need to be on the inside to wreak havoc like this.

Interesting front opened by the English Premier League today on the copycat use of pyrotechnics at football games.  “Someone could get killed”, said policing minister Damian Green.  You’re 20 years out of date, Mr Green.

Here’s the problem: it’s possible to discharge one of these devices in a crowded area without accepting the safety/reputational/fine consequences.  Enormously invasive searches of unconnected people would be required to prevent pyros being taken into a stadium which is just not possible, eradication requires everyone to decide not to participate.

The only practical method I can see of stopping the use of pyrotechnics in Scottish football is to give Sports Direct exclusive distribution rights.  Who’d buy them then?

Are the Sons of Struth, the Sons of Anarchy provisional wing? Can zombies be some someone’s son, or did they cease to be someone’s son when they became zombies? Do they still have a parent and child gate? If the price of the ticket is an arm and a leg…..how many games can they go to in a season. Oooft ma heads sore.

Iaskedthis question yesterday. If Celtic win the double does the UEFA place not go to a league place ?

If not is this why the resolution has been adjourned ?

If it is …what happens if sevco dont make the final ?

    HH

    ++++++++++++++++++

No a Europa place (for which Sevco would need an UEFA licence via UEFA FFP Article 15, but is highly unlikely given the Derry City refusal all of which I covered on previous blog) goes to the SC Runners up.

    Europa League

The Europa League places are slightly more complicated. There are 3 places available, and they will be allocated in the following order of preference.

◾Scottish Cup Winner (if not already qualified for Champions League)

    ◾2nd in SPL

    ◾3rd in SPL

◾Scottish Cup Runner-up (if Champions League qualifiers win Cup)

    ◾4th in SPL

    http://splstats.wordpress.com/2013/02/28/how-to-qualify-for-europe-2/

and I cannot see any connection whatsoever to the adjourned resolution that was explained here (and at least three times updated in last week on CQN)

The current Rangers board cannot be removed as they have the majority of shares …… seems to me that the Struth group and others have woken up at least 18 months too late and as part of their activities they should :

    – insist on a public apology from Lord , sorry Sir David Murray, to the Rangers supporters and Scottish football. A TV appearance on Newsnight with JP would be adequate.

    – A boycott of Murray companies products and services until an apology is forthcoming

A boycott of Rangers products and season books will result in another administration , another non-cost cutting administration with the sale and leaseback of the ground , training complex the only option.

Either way , Christmas is cancelled and the New a Year holiday booking on hold for the funds to support the sale.

I suspect that there will always be dodgy funds and funds managers either willing to support the brotherly cause or see a chance to make a killing. The second lot will be put off by the current Brothers Struth behaviour which just leaves crazy Ranger supporting Fund Managers!

I see the discussion on Rangers is moving towards more investment in the 1st team squad, good grief, as if the current financial position is not grave enough. We should be pushing for FFP in the Scottish domestic game , fall foul of FFP then no admittance to domestic cups, transfer bans, you get the picture.

The current sight of a club running up £14m losses , boasting about unbeaten records is laughable, remains to be seen who laughs last!

Spot on. Why did they not challenge the “relegation”? Surely there can be no grounds for a club finishing second in the league to be relegated.

As for the “transfer of membership” – why the need to transfer membership from one club to the SAME club??? Makes no sense at all.

This has always been the point .If it was only the “Company”that went bust, why punish the club.Surely,a new company could have come in and carried on.

The entity being wound up at the moment is RFC.Not any “Company”In fact, which “Company”are they on about?.Is there such a company known as RFC?.

All very confusing for me.Maybe I am a bit dim.I am sure someone from the MSM could clear it all up for people such as me.

  23. I note that, apart from a now meaningless jaunt to Barcelona, we have a diet of 11 Premiership fixtures in our stroll to the title, before we can face the more unpredictable outcome of a SC tie with Aberdeen in early February. We will play everyone bar united, Aberdeen and Ross County before then and will face Motherwell, Hibs, and St. Mirren twice in the league during that period.

We are going to need something to motivate our attendance during that period of “competitively meaningless” matches.

Therefore, I would like to thank our friends from Ibrox, for providing that motivation as it gives us a chance to sing and chant about their troubles during our stroll to the title.

They really are the gift that keeps on giving.

    —————————————————————————–

No, basically! Interesting that Paul Murray is banging on the door, yet has never once said how he would have run the club in the “Craig Whyte year” ie WITHOUT CL money which had sustained them for two years.

The truth is that the only option would have been to sell five or six of their best players (with corresponding drop down league). But of course he can’t be seen to be saying that. And nobody bothers to ask him!

  25. Maybe I’m being ultra paranoid.. Is this another scam to go into administration with the new creation?

For me, that is the key to the whole thing – the whole club/company thing.

If you go down the Keith Jackson/Gordon Smith route (I know, but stay with me for a minute!), that it was “the company that owned the club” that was liquidated, then the “transfer of membership” was presumably to do with a change in ownership. So why was there no “transfer of membership” in 2011, when it went from MIH to Wavetower?

    All highly confusing!

I really hate all this nonsense about “Mineshafters, and Happy clappers”..We all want Celtic to be as good as they possibly can.Different opinions on how this is achieved will always go on.

Personally,I think financially we are going great.I like Peter Lawell.I know what he has in his heart.I dont agree with the scattergun approach in the signing policy. Some do.The signing of a striker is the main bone of contention with me and many others. Many say we cannot afford to bring in a good striker. We have spent money on,at the moment,Bangura,Pukki,Balde. The new boy I wont include. The combined transfer monies, and wages would have gone a long way to getting us the player we need.Lenny has admitted this.Hence his new hunt for said player. It seems like madness.

If people cannot see why many are not happy with this situation,I cannot see why.If we had not wasted money on hopefuls, bought a striker, maybe Lenny would now be able to turn his search to a number 10.We are so close to having a team to be proud of,its galling.

This is the main point of the arguments between the protagonists.but at the end of the day we all want the strongest possible Celtic on the park.
