Aspirations low for Paris but not meaningless

We’ve seen dead rubbers away to tier one Champions League teams before and they’ve not been pretty. Celtic still have Europa Cup football to target, but it is unlikely Brendan Rodgers will put too much hope into collecting the necessary points in Paris tomorrow evening.

It is more important that we mature our ability to perform at this level. We need to return to a similar environment next season packing more of a punch that we do right now. This is not the most aspirational aim a Celtic team has had in Europe, but I would settle for it.

    Really lookin’ forward to the game tonight, let’s cherish and enjoy going to places like Paris in the biggest club competition in the world. The French capital is awash with Hoops by all accounts.

     

    I can’t wait for my next trip over to Paradise in less than two weeks for the Anderlecht game, it can’t come quick enough.

    I finally had the pleasure of meeting CORKCELT prior to the BM match. He was every inch the man I expected,a total gentleman.

     

     

    Pleasure doesn’t do him justice,nor did the brief time with him as I had a CT taxi due.

     

     

    I was only there thanks to the beneficence of ANGELGABRIEL and ROBINBHOY. It’s a shame that ROBINBHOY can’t make the games,not a pleasant time he’s having just now,but when real good Tims like yourself make the effort and expense to get over,it’s brilliant to know that there’s hope of getting a ticket.

    As for the game — no high hopes but you never know –Pundit on the radio opined that Di Maria might start ( Mbappe. on the bench ). Midfield likely to be Rabiot/ Verratti / Pastore … Cavani and Neymar up front . .Defence as per last weekend’s game v Nantes . . Lo Celso on the bench ( IMO -he is a player !!!)

    Down in londonshire I was in the company of a couple of nice chaps last night. 50ish guys so same generation as me.

     

     

    One a Southampton supporter the other a Liverpool fan. We talked all things from shankly to saint Mary’s , dalglish to saint Brendan.these guys work in the city and are in the boardroom circles of their respective clubs.

     

     

    The best part. Both know the original rangers died and both know the records Celtic are acheiving are just that. Records.

     

     

    Both also convinced Virgil is going to anfield. And Southampton will be in for another celt.

    Hope you had a good day. My favourite local restaurant is closed on Tuesday so me and Mrs H had a meal there on Monday. Great meal washed down by a nice Sauvignon Red. Lazy day yesterday.

    BMCUW: Cheers for your kind post. Again, I’ve only got a ticket for the upcoming Anderlecht game due to the kindness of AngelGabriel. I’m looking forward to meeting up with himself and CorkCelt (and any other CQN’ers) on the afternoon of the game for a few beers and a good ole chat about our beloved Hoops.

     

    It’s great to see the full flights on matchday again travelling over from Éire to Glasgow. The Brendan effect has well and truly hit our shores over the past year.

    Thanks for the kind words but in truth I’m just another bam pot who loves & cherishes everything about Celtic.

     

    I saw a post earlier about Brendan saying we cannot match the millions PSG have but nothing can match our soul.

     

    A Club that was born from Famine & Oppression, that gave an impoverished people (who had lost everything, their homes, their possessions, their Country & their native language) a sense of identity, a sense of purpose & a sense of hope.

     

    Their revenge was indeed the laughter of their children.
