KAZAKHSTAN side Astana have won through to the third round of Champions League qualifiers after overcoming Lithuanians FK Zalgiris 2-1.

Astana are regarded in their homeland as a side who put Kazakhstan football on the map and the latest victory means they will now face Celtic or Lincoln Red Imps with tonight’s game nearing the 7.45pm kick-off.

It started well on the night for the home outfit when Bosnian Marin Anicic gave them a 1-0 lead in the tie, but they were shocked when Eliveto levelled in the 57th minute.

Astana pushed for a winner and were rewarded in the dying seconds when Anicic netted his second to take his side through.

The last time the Hoops played in Kazakhstan, they endured a torrid seven-hour trip before losing 2-0 to Shakhtar Karagandy.

Goals from Kris Commons, Georgios Samaras and James Forrest overturned the tie at Parkhead and Neil Lennon’s men went through on a 3-2 aggregate.
