After full time on Saturday Celtic fly east to play Shakhter Karagandy in Kazakhstan, which is five hours ahead of UK time, but fortunately kick off on Tuesday is 9pm local time, 4pm in the UK, so the team will not have to adjust body clocks. Such a long flight immediately after a game is not without risk, though.
Muscles need to stretch and move freely after exertion. Players will need an exercise routine for the plane to mitigate the risk of the kind of strain injuries we see so often. Get a schedule for them to walk up and down the plane every hour.
I expect Celtic will have a scout at the Astana Arena for Friday’s game between Astana and Shakhter Karagandy but it might not be too revealing. The Shakhter coach and first team squad didn’t even attend the game prior to their last Champions League qualifier against Albanians, Korce. They were locked away in preparation as the second team were deployed for the league game.
It’s back to the Astana Arena, with its plastic pitch and closable roof, which is 135 miles from Karagandy, for the visit of Celtic, who will be hoping the pitch is a better standard than the one they played on in Sweden last week. Neil Lennon could perhaps put a call into his former team-mate, Aiden McGeady, who played on the surface for Ireland 11 months ago (Ireland won the World Cup qualifier after being a goal down with a minute of normal time left).

You cannae have it both ways, either Broon was marking him or he wasn’t. And if Broon was zonal then he’s the wrong player for that zone. That’s where the centre backs belong. And they were nowhere to be seen.

Phil tweeted asking if we could bring it to the attention of the people in charge of playing the music at Celtic Park.
Not normally my thing at all, hip hop as Gaeilge, but it’s tremendous stuff.
Some Swedish techno hip hop emo-goth trance skiffle DJ or other released a song at the start of the summer called Wake Me Up (not that one). It’s been exceptionally popular all over the world all summer, including in Ireland.
In steps young, handsome Stiofán Ó Fearail, a Dub, but a passionate advocate of using his musical talent to promote the Irish language, so for some time he has been spending summers at the Lurgan (great name) Irish language college in Country Galway. Others with the same passion have formed a band with him, Seo Linn. Good luck to them. Their specialism is taking popular contemporary songs and translating or writing new lyrics to make Irish versions of them.
Last week, young Stiofán and his pals were back at the college to help out and they taught the weans their latest, an as Gaeilige version of Wake Me Up. Well, it found its way onto the college Youtube channel, got some plays on television in Ireland and has now gone kind of viral, almost a million plays. And if Phil gets his wish and it gets played at Celtic Park, there will be no stopping it.
