I see the Astana number 14 is called Shitov :)
Primary6 CFC
Gordon vital touch, wide
Cmon Celtic poor passing. Cheap give a ways
Ref allowing them to be physical but not us. Anytime they go down he gives foul.
Lustig being given tough time by winger
Another good save by Gotdon
Get Sammi on
St. Stivs
Our passing is the worst aspect of our play.
A half of two quarters- we were very comfortable till the cheap goal
Poor pass CmcG
HT
No relief for the defence from our forwards.
Sadly.
Poor ball from CM as he overhit a pass meant for SA
His first contribution today
HT 1-0 to them
After a bright confident start we conceded from a set piece and they grew into game.
Our midfield particularly CMcG have been MIA
PR is having to ride wild tackles when he goes down the wing
Relieved at the score.
Disappointing to let a goal in from a corner and by what I read there first chance. The oppositions shots to goals ratio against us in Europe must be huge thanks for the score updates. On a quick tea break now
Well i shall sit here and scratch my heed at that, is our mentality that of a small team now? we are playing like its our second season in europe and don’t want thumped by the big astana team. BR has lots still to do, MD not working, Def soft and Attack got no support.
getting beat by the new kids on the block.
Bemused.
KLV
we are still in this
it looks like Brenden is like the rest and cant or wont do anything
Maybe park the bus now Celtic and take a one nil deficit to CP.
More of the same away stuff from us.
Just seen the replay of their goal and O’Connell did over run the guy he was marking in his desire to get to the ball.
A youthful defender’s mistake
Affable(Armstrong and Mcgregor) Celtic losing 1-0
at H/T,would bite yer hand for the same score at F/T.
DEMBELE THE NEW PUKKI???
I’d take 1-1 now. We need to make one of our fwd passes count. It’s very open.
SFTB
Yes, from behind the goal play is much clearer
They are a dirty (streetwise?) bunch.
UEFA refs are mince.
If we can keep the difference to one goal (2-1would be ok, 1-1 obviously better) we will hammer them at Celtic Park.
Seeing the goal again, O’Connell ball watching loses his man, CG all over the shop, did redeem himself though. Our midfield has been posted missing the whole first half..
Changes afoot:))
Shortbread commentator not exactly distraught at the score line.
We lost our way once they scored. Astana are very threatening from corners and long throws into our box. They are dictating play also.
If Celtic come out in the second half and play like they did in the first fifteen minutes then we can recover.
Not a terrible performance so far but players need to get their heads up for the second half.
Paddy apart we are rubbish – huge job Brendan
Gordon poor at goal but saved us a few times after.
Still feel the problem in this team is absence of responsibility.
Need generals in midfield and defensive zones.
Few times when we go forward mids seem to slow down and leave it to forwards.
The defense look like individuals but lack cohesion.
we need a right back! and Armstrong has just played another 45mins and offered absolutely nothing – just not got it at this level and is a let down.
Looks like we are playing with a one man midfield. I think we need to score as i’m not convinced they won’t score in second half. Center backs are doing ok considering the circumstances.
Very disappointing first half display and scoreline against a team who are no world
beaters.
Some very shaky defending from our patched up back line, giving away exactly the same kind of cheap goal that was so costly in last seasons qualifiers.
Maybe we just don’t like plastic. Hopefully Brendan will get things sorted out for the second half.
This team are no great shakes, but if they have a lead to hold on to for the 2nd leg they’ll be a different proposition. We need a goal. By the way WTF was Gordon doing at their goal? We are quick to blame Efebut that was every bit as bad as an Efe howler.

Someone posted earlier that Astana are minnows and have no CL experience.
Let’s be honest Celtic are now minnows in Europe and this team probably has less CL experience than their opponents today.
And that isn’t a criticism of the team, just realistic. Some fans need to wise up to Scotland and Celtic’s standing in today world.
Anyway hopefully we escape this with a 1 nil defeat then win the return.

Jesus wept. That’s harsh. I’d pull him though just to give the midfield a hand
Good start but did not take long for the panic buttons to be pushed.
Roberts playing well but that’s it.
Could be the pitch but our passing has been the worst so far this season.
Looking closer to 2-0 than 1-1.
BR let’s see a bit of inspiration.
KTF
FAN-A-TIC
Rogic for McGregor???
I’ve managed to get a very poor live stream but still reliant on CQN for the detail.
From what I could see, once again poor defending results in a cheap goal and a drop in confidence throughout the team.
Hopefully BR can galvanise the team at HT.
What is it with referees ? Kick a ball away, tug a jersey or celebrate a goal to exuberantly
, it’s a guaranteed booking.
Blatantly Kick a guy who skins you, not once, but on two occasions and you get nothing more than a quiet warning.
I’ve watched a number of referees, who just seem to have no idea of player safety.
Our keeper and right back have had major injury problems and are shot to bits.
One centre half, rightly or wrongly, is seen as an error-prone figure of ridicule by opposition fans (and by some of his own too- how else do you explain the Efe Ambrose Balon d’or song). The other centre half has played 6 games in his career. Our left back is very promising but inexperienced and lacking support.
I’d go through the rest of the team but it will only sicken me.
Our best player is a young lad on loan from the EPL. Bad as we are now, god help us this time next year when he has gone back to his parent club.
This is the best we can muster for the games that make or break our season and that financially make or break the next few years too.
What manager could work with this? Lenny couldn’t so walked. Ronny tried. Brendan is showing you can’t make a silk purse out of a sows ear.
And the solution? A couple more EPL loans as we get close to the end of August no doubt.
It’s time for change. In truth it was time for change at least 2 years ago. Those in charge are moving this club backwards at a rate of knots.
