So, with that in mind, it’s confirmed…
Bayern Munich or Real Madrid for Celtic in the next round.

Yang played a simple pass in the build up to our first goal. What else did he do?
Also he could have played Tony Ralston before Dane Murray if he had to make a change there.
Still proud of the overall performance of the team. We need another winger, centre half and centre forward.
An Dún on
Some great play tonight. Engels, Kuhn and Idah did very well imo. Hatate stepped up as well.
The bench was always going to be our downfall as the game wore on.
The one frustration is that goal to make it 3-2. It’s so poor from our point of view. The fourth made no real difference so I’ll give Murray a bye.
DeniaBhoy on
On chances alone, I think we were fortunate to only lose 4-2. Villa, on another night, could have had 6 or 7.
Staying that, two defensive errors gifted Villa their 3rd and 4th goals.

Clearly says we can play signed players.
Later post was just confirming after seeing on telly. Not just my calcs.

Missed the game. Outcome I expected. We don’t have the defensive quality without CCV. We had nothing really to play for. Great campaign. No complaints from me.

AOW,
Yeah, every ref in the world is out to get us.
We shout out for foreign refs , when we get them we trash them
It was a magnificent game and the ref played his part.
Stop blaming refs for every single thing.
Our defeat had nothing to do with the referee.
We showed character and although we came up short in the end it was not the referees doing.
As a pot 3 team we always need to play at our best to achieve anything.
This season we got tanked by Dortmund and given a lesson, we handed out the same lesson to Slovan Bratislava.
We are a big team in terms of global fan base playing in a peripheral European league. We cannot ever assume anything about games.
For me. Tonight we lost but we didn’t disgrace ourselves. If we face Real next so be it.
DeniaBhoy on
Interestingly, when asked, says Idah’s job is to get in between the posts, finished magnificently but has to get up to match fitness to press better.

At the start of the campaign, I would have grabbed our present position, but saying that, I think we dropped a few points in games we could have won.
Tonight I thought we showed great character, but fell short overall. No shame in the result, although 3-2 would have been fairer.
Great night to come for those fortunate enough to be in Paradise against Madrid or Milan.
Still on our way to the treble, whats to complain about ?

Some on here suggesting BR was making a point. I doubt he needed to. I hope not.
Maeda can’t play in home leg.
We will play Bayern or Real.
It is the worst of the options of possible opponents in my honest opinion

Just read the ridiculously negative match report by CQN. Really miserable and not the game I watched. Don’t understand the point of saying tonight was as bad as the 7-1 defeat in game 2. Absolute nonsense. Used to be in CQN 5 times a day right back at the beginning but probabaly less than 5 times a month now. Little of interest, pop-up ads all over the place and too much negativity.

A shite first 5 minutes and last 5 minutes, we make too many mistakes at that level, but we showed a lot of maturity, and composure in between, which we haven’t shown for a long time, brilliant progress though
An Dún on
I think we’d be as well entering into pay off talks for the likes of Yang, Nawrocki and Holm. There’s just no point in keeping them. They can find their level like Tilio did and go away and enjoy life.
Hopefully we can get something for Palma and Lagerbielke but we will no doubt be taking haircuts on them.
Big few days now to strengthen this squad and see out the treble.

Why do you think an untried Dane Murray was brought on instead of a current Scottish international deffender. Ie Anthony Ralston?
Seems a strange decision. Im sure there will be a logical reason

Disappointing that polish and Norwegian young players of the year could not be developed but we don’t see them every day.
For Dane Murray to be deemed better than the pole after time at Queens Park is worrying.
You may well be right.

Maybe a plus in Maeda missing the first leg is if we are still in the game after the first game then he might just be a weapon away from home through the middle.
Likewise either Real or Bayern will be celebrating drawing us and not Man City and be a bit too confident.

*why he already knows what he can do so give the 2 youngsters a run out on the big stage, on a horrible night during the big freeze down at the aptly named rugby park, 4 days earlier we had gubbed the EC semi finalists Dundee 4-1 at parkheid, but on this night we had 8 players on the injury list, so 3 youngsters were given their debut, including a wee carrot heided right winger, we were well beaten by a team sitting in 2nd place in the league, 2 years later that same side would win the league while we won the cup.

3rd &4th goals exposed individual errors & weaknesses. However the 3rd goal exposed how wide open our defensive structure was when we ventured into the opposition half. Defence isn’t just about the back four but also the midfield which too often was posted missing.
AJ taken to the cleaners for the first goal but battled throughout. Hitate failed to test the keeper in the first half but put in a good shift nevertheless. Idah can be well pleased with his night’s work. Engels showed aggression & fight, and not a little ability – when he has a few more seasons behind him he will be a top player.

Can’t help feeling we conceded the game when we allowed KF to leave before the match.

Both Murray and Cummings may or may not make it but they both need to be nurtured at SPFL level before being anywhere near even a CL bench . We also have a few players who can cope at SPFL level but weaken the team at CL level . Both Scales and Trusty have a potentially disastrous mistake in them while Yang and Palma compare poorly with Kuhn and Daizen .Could add CCV to that list too,, good player though he is, if he’s going to miss big games through injury.
