AT THE DOUBLE! JACK COPIES JAMES

JACK AITCHISON copied James Forrest as the second Celtic attacker to score two goals for Scotland at the weekend.

First team regular Forrest took the spotlight with his devastating double in his country’s 4-0 UEFA Nations League triumph in Albania last night.

But youngster Aitchison was also on target twice for the Scotland Under-19s as they moved ahead at the top of their European Championship qualifying group with a 5-0 win over San Marino.

Former Hoops midfielder Billy Stark’s side made it two wins from two games with a first-half blitz in Rhyl.

Ibrox kid Dapo Mebude opened the scoring after 21 minutes and Aitchison claimed his first just 60 seconds later. Chelsea’s Billy Gilmour – who scored both goals in Wednesday’s 2-1 win over Wales – made it 3-0 in the 35th minute and the contest was over five minutes later when Aitchison notched his second.

Substitute Seb Ross, of Aberdeen, knocked in No.5 to complete the scoring as the Scots sauntered through the second-half.

With Wales beating Sweden 2-1 in the other Group 4 encounter, it leaves Stark’s babes with six points, three ahead of the Welsh and the Swedes with San Marino looking for their first point.

Aitchison made a sensational impact on his first appearance in Ronny Deila’s farewell as Hoops boss at the end of the 2015/16 season.

He was introduced as a late second-half substitute for his debut – and scored with his first touch of the ball in the 7-0 rout of Motherwell.
