Celtic were near their silky smooth best against Hearts on Saturday. It looked like their fifth competitive game of the season, and Progres(s) on what we’ve seen in Europe. We now have two games in Glasgow – Kilmarnock on Tuesday and Partick Thistle on Friday, before Astana’s visit on 16 August.
Brendan Rodgers job will be to ensure the players’ fitness is near peak by then. The tiredness, which was apparent late in the game against Hearts, should be replaced by energy in the tank.
It must have been fingers in the ears time in various places across Scotland, as the World Athletics Championships dealt with the consequences of handing out prizes to those who didn’t compete within the rules years ago, while pondering what to do with those who were caught cheating, but remain at the top of their sport.
Athletics is trying desperately to move on. Jessica Ennis-Hill’s gold medal, awarded six years late, is a necessary step in the right direction. It’s not the same as winning on the track, not by a long shot (put), but athletes know their sport is intent on doing the right thing, no matter how long it takes.

I think there’s something really special about this young player
Have I missed a small transfer ?
Did the Huns sell Waghorn ?

Hi Paul67,
It’s quite amazing how much time, effort and resources Athletics puts into keeping it’s Sports Clean. It is a never ending always evolving battle with the Cheats.
It’s great to see the Olympian values that beget the modern game, still inherent in Athletics. The Sport has developed and changed, no longer amateur, no longer
It’s an interesting

If you’d rather play for Burnley that us then you’re main motivation isn’t football. As i’ve said before,if we didn’t fall apart and collapse after Paul McStay stopped playing for us then we’ll survive Armstrong departing.

Still no explanation from Daly/Levein/Budge as to why Jamie Walker was left out of the Hertz squad on Saturday?
On Cricket quick news – seems that SA making a fist of it at 154 for 3 will definitely last till after tea. Shows you how much I know.

………………….
I believe Daly made a statement saying his head wasn’t right.
They also said on their website they had previously made him an offer which he initially verbally accepted only to change his mind which would have made him Hearts highest paid player.
So yes! He has little doubt been tapped up by the Huns.
The cheating continues unabated

Celtic’s average home attendances have not always been good
Although I was there, the attendance figures for 1967 and 1988,seem very low.My father,God rest him ,always commented on,along with many others, that the official attendance given out by Celtic was always nonsense due to the Kellys and Whites skimming.Always seemed to be 28,000,or thereabouts.
Still no KO time for Astana away yet?
SCULLYBHOY,
For a wheen of those years, many Celtic suppporters were convinced that the Board made up the attendance figure (whisper it: for tax purposes).

How many schoolchildren watch Celtic home matches and have season tickets today?
When I was being taken to games in the late ’60s, ’70s by my dad, I was lifted over the turnstile every game, as were thousands of other kids.
The Green Brigade are going to have to learn to box clever imo.
I just wish they would stay on top of the Huns cheating for as long as it takes for us to see justice done.
Let the banners draw attention to the lies and corruption in Scottish Football. Let’s stay focussed

Assistant Chief Constable warns Green Brigrade
ONE of Scotland’s most senior police officers has warned Celtic’s Green Brigade to leave their politics outside football grounds.
Assistant Chief Constable Bernie Higgins said his officers will not hesitate to take action against those who promote distasteful political agendas at football games.
The group of “ultras” were absent from Parkhead for Celtic’s 4-1 win against Hearts on Saturday after being handed a two-game ban by the club for a pro-IRA display in their Champions League second qualifying round against Linfield.
Celtic bosses have shunned the minority of supporters, telling them to clean their act up before they return to the ground.
The display against Linfield showed several large banners peddling paramilitary sentiments. Slogans such as “Rodgers at work” and “Brendan’s Undefeated Army” were embossed on large signs deliberately mimicking IRA slogans from Armagh in the 1990s.
ACC Higgins said: “The Green Brigade brings a certain atmosphere to Celtic Park. But sometimes they cross the line – and they sometimes jump over the line. I don’t think anybody would say their paramilitary banner were anything other than distasteful – and criminal”.
Celtic was fined £20,000 by UEFA for the fans’ behaviour. Twelve arrests were made among the Celtic support at the game of men ranging from ages 18 to 49.
The Green Brigade will return to Celtic Park for their next game against Kilmarnock tomorrow.
Assistant Chief Constable Bernie Higgins – what a complete tube.

The Astana away game kicked off at 4.45 our time last year. Suspect similar time this year.
Celtic Pools – I have just received a call from a guy named Patrick claiming to be from Celtic Pools promoting a new initiative on behalf of the Pools. All seemed well until he requested my bank info, which I declined to give, he was calling from 0141 380 0254. Has anyone else had such a call? Any other thoughts welcome as it sounds like a scam.

I really like the boy,but gone on too long.Celtic have to give him an ultimatum.Sign before Astana game,or you are out.Far too many good players chasing his position.Namely Rogic and Ntcham,Mc Gregor.Too much tip toeing around him.Not setting a good precedent for the future.

DAVIES HOPEFUL OF ROBERTS RETURN
Date: 7th August 2017 at 2:41pm
Written by: Joe McHugh
Chris Davies has given Celtic fans hope that Patrick Roberts could return to the club.
Nice appear to be making a very serious bid to sign the winger from Manchester City with the clock ticking towards tonight’s 11pm deadline for the Champions League play-off round.
Roberts developed a real affinity for Celtic during his 18 month loan spell but has to make a cold, hard decision about his playing future.
Despite a few appearances for Manchester City during their pre-season build up it seems unlikely that Pep Guardiola will have the time to help develop any young talent in a side where they pay £30m for a back up full-back.
Celtic have been in contact with Manchester City since the end of last season with the strong suggestion that a deal has been agreed between the clubs.
The final decision will be down to Roberts with Davies sending out the signals that the England youth star is very much in the thoughts of Brendan Rodgers.
“We really enjoyed working with Patrick, there is always going to be a home for him here if that suits everybody,” the Evening Times reported the Celtic assistant manager saying.
“They have been talking and the situation is always open to a certain extent because the transfer window is still open.
“We’ve got the players that are with us working and fighting right now, we’ve been scoring and creating goals, so if something extra happens then it’s all positive, but if not we’re ok.
“All I know from our part is that we value the player, rate the player, and I’m sure if it was right for everybody then something would be done but we can’t really control that at the moment, we just focus on our work here and see how that one evolves.
“Pat at the moment is playing for Man City, he’s featured for them, so I can’t comment too much on it.
“All I can tell you from my side and speaking for the manager is how much we enjoyed working with him, and the rest will take care of itself.”
After the win over Hearts on Saturday Brendan Rodgers told Sky Sports that he was still working on transfers.
Gene and DD – Thanks for the feedback. Phoned the Pools office and they confirmed that it is genuine, a company are doing promotion work for them at this time, I did express my surprise that they would ask for bank info given the amount of scams that are around related to that info.
