I was going ape shit when I saw them clammering for a yellow card. Red. Oh shit. Really disappointed in our second half performance but we really needed 11 v 11 in a competition against a good team. Making a wee bit progress at home, and better Celtic teams have lost badly in Spain, and fact is we’ve never won over there, and won’t do with ten men either. No excuse for losing six though. Said before we lack leadership in the face of adversity, and no easy solution to that. That said we still have to try and get something out of our last two CL games, for our presence of mind. See Stephen Welsh was back in the squad, I think he can make a half decent defensive midfielder, physically strong, not bad in the air and can make a forward pass. Get him in against Lazio, and hope he doesn’t get sent himself by some referee looking to curry favour with the UEFA cabal. Rome? They canny say we’ve never won there, we’re up there wi Hannibal in that town!

Hi,
Am in Madrid.
This a small comment within the bigger picture but worrying all the same.
We were seated in the corner where the Celtic subs were going through some stretching ,running and warming up at half time
David Turnbull and to a lesser extent Mickey Johnston , danced to the music and messed about during the warm up. Turnbull especially took the Mick: missing out exercises, half hearted effort when he did and all the while laughing it off.
Of course this lack of intensity ( in comparison with others who were following the coaches urgings) wasn’t the decisive factor in the big scheme of things, but when he came on my heart sank.
Keep up with the goals David because your attitude for a losing side was unimpressive and I wondered how long it has been like this.
The manager was on at the end, shaking the oppositions hands and commiserating with our players. Good behaviour in defeat and a worthy representative of the club.
A sore one.

Turkeybhoy,
Totally agree re Daizen. I was frustrated with his decision making before he was sent off tonight.
During the first half on Saturday in Dingwall Alistair Johnston overlappped several times only
For Maeda to cut in left into a wall of defenders each time.I thought the coaches would fix this at half time but nothing changed. Either he’s not being properly coached or he’s not listening. His play could improve materially if his decision making improved.
FORMER Celtic boss Gordon Strachan reckons the worst thing the Hoops could do in the white hot atmosphere of the Civitas Metropolitano tonight is change from their usual game.
Atletico – who twice came back to draw in Glasgow in the previous Champions League matchday- were shock 2-1 losers to Las Palmas in Gran Canaria on Friday evening.
That was a shock to the system for Diego Simeone’s usually smoothly functioning side – and Strachan feels that Celtic must stick to their usual game plan
He told ICE36: “The horrible thing about this game is that Atletico were beaten at the weekend in La Liga.
“They don’t often lose two games in a row – they will want to respond.
“They are a team that are masters of the dark arts. Beelzebub!
“Even at the end of the Celtic match where all their players just walked off – they’re the embodiment of their manager.”
Asked precisely what the Hoops should do this evening, Strachan replied: “Don’t rush.
“I don’t think that they need to make any drastic changes to how they would approach this game and, sometimes, if you make too many changes as a manager in terms of tactics or personnel, players get spooked.
“You don’t want to create doubts in the players’ minds where they start to think that the manager doesn’t trust them to play their normal game – I’ve done that before as a manager in Europe.
“You then realise, actually, if we play our game, on occasions the opponent isn’t that good and that gives everyone even more confidence because you played the game on your terms.
“It’s like standing up to a bully at school. You have to put your own mark on it – sometimes you’ll have to take a couple of hits.”
When VAR is doing that……. The Smallest Nations have nae chance. LMFAO.

Hello again all you young rebels
Well! that was hard to take bhoys, hoped for a backs to

Suppose we could make excuses, that referee for a start,
but let’s be honest, the champions league is beyond us

Everyone’s had their say regards the reasons, should buy
better players, go to another league, blah, blah, isn’t going

Couldn’t do this last night too scunnered ….I noticed a few were enjoying the pain though…sticks out a mile …anyway as people have mentioned…lack of physicality..even CCV looks ordinary in a physical sense in these games …it is no surprise our most recent successes in last 20 years was a physical team …we conceded FIVE fouls last night ….sorry but that is criminal…..giving fouls away breaks up play …we really are rubbish at the dark arts ..surrounding refs …etc ….not worth criticising individuals apart from ref who was shocking….from Slovakia I believe….no top 5 country’s ref’s available?…or Dutch, Belgium or Scandinavian…
Ref reckons it’s safe enough now to yellow card one of them . Oh has not stopped running or trying .
…………..
SPOT ON Mate.
I havent been ” OHs” biggest fan, but last night he really tried to put himself about when he came on for the 2nd half.
It was a dismal night for the Celts, and the Ref and VAR Crew were shocking, but as I watched the whole game, there was ONE issue that left me totally BAFFLED ?
NOT ONE Celt appeared ABLE to take the ball in and keep possession ( Apart from the first 10 minutes), and with the exception of the young Bhoy ” OH”, who showed real desire and some skill in his 2nd half appearance.
I Posted yesterday that ” I feared the worst” BEFORE the game, and for once I was sadly….. correct.
SIMONE and his Mob are VILE CHEATS…..NOT any better than Mourinho and his Porto team from 20 years ago.
DESPITE last night….When my Heid came off my pillow this morning, I was STILL a Celtic supporter.

Sadly Celtic did call out this referee 8 years ago both publicly and officially.
