Attacking change looks more effective

163

Saturday’s win over Dundee Untied was as close to a perfect afternoon for the champions as we could hope for.  Remarkably, we picked up no injuries, despite some tasty challenges from United players.  Arne Engels in particular was targeted.  The absence of Paulo Bernardo leaves us light in the middle of the park, especially during this period of two games a week.

Adam Idah continued his scoring form, that’s five goals in six games since Kyogo left.  Prior to then, neither Adam not Kyogo were scoring with any regularity.  Kyogo took 13 games to score his last five goals for Celtic and Adam’s fallow patch was even longer.

This is a small sample size and we cannot rush to conclusions, but the slight change in Celtic’s attacking options looks to be more effective.  Could it be that defenders had figured out how to mark Kyogo?

Tomorrow’s opponents, Bayern Munich, earned a hard-fought point away to second placed Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday evening.  The result was celebrated like a win by Bayern players, who were fortunate not to concede on several occasions, including when Jeremie Frimpong hit the crossbar.

Munich are not quietly confidence of winning the Bundesliga and progressing into the next round of the Champions League.  They are eight points ahead in the league with 12 games remaining and they have won 17 and drawn four since their last home defeat in the Champions League.

That came at the hands of PSG in an empty stadium during the Covid season.  You need to go back six years to their last home defeat in front of fans in Europe.  So they are due another one, right?

With regards the Mibs and var cheats surely no Celt expects Willie collum to clean up all the problems ,he was one of the problems , the main cast Willie was in with are still in situ .

JIMTIM, 100% in agreement. I stated at the time that Gollum could NEVER clean up the place as he was always a major part of the problem(s). His wee cameo appearances, once a month, while entertaining to a degree, do absolutely zero to tackle the fundamental problems with SFA officials except ‘appear’ to be honest about some mistakes made. But, and here’s the rub, after identifying a so-called problem, what actually has happened? The square root of feck all!

The fact that Beaton is still refereeing after literally years of chicanery undermines any attempt to suggest that they are trying to modernise and move forward. Beaton’s last professional gig should have been the game against Albion Rovers at Ibrox when he allowed their equalising goal in the last minute of a cup-tie to stand despite their centre back (Moshi?) jumping into the ||Rovers’ keeper and knocking him into the net so that he could not play the ball. Anyone looking at that incident could only conclude that here was a referee that was utterly out of his depth at this level or was in other ways compromised. But, here we are years later, and he is still wandering around doing the same thing over and over again.

Gollum was, is and will remain a patsy, no matter how many wee videos he makes and how many times he admits a mistake was made. The fact that the same people are making the same ‘mistakes’ they were making last season, and the seasons before, says it all for me.

Sorry for the rant on this great, great day for Glasgow Celtic FC. COYBIG

  3. BACK TO BASICS – GLASS HALF FULL @ 7:18 AM,

The way I’d see Schlupp, if he was here next season, would be in the Mulgrew role.

It was controversial when Charlie came back, but I think most agreed, a good re-signing.

Left Back, Centre Half, DM, good at set plays in the opposition box…

Now, for me Schlupp could do that at the higher level we are now striving for.

No reason why KT and Schlupp couldn’t play together- we play three at the back Scotland NT style, which gives is options.

Early days, but we are sorely missing the utility player…

    He could be BR&CO’s Mooy!!
