Attitude for Tynecastle

2311

I watched Hearts batter Pat Fenlon’s Hibs into submission at Easter Road last month.  They are not a good team but they have elbows and commitment, often the key resources in a football game.  With our interest in the League Cup and Europe curtailed, and the league title a sure thing, it is enormously important that we remain in the Scottish Cup into the New Year.

Attitude is the most important attribute for Celtic this weekend.

Things you don’t expect to do when you start blogging: I took four calls from journos yesterday asking if I knew a Celtic fan prepared to go on record as an IRA supporter!  I don’t, for the record, not one, so no one else should bother checking.  Lack of support for that organisation and, where support exists, an awareness that representing yourself as such, is not inconsequential, will explain the dearth.  Just as it’s not inconsequential when you represent your club.  I can’t see many inviting the consequences.

I also got a call yesterday and a faxed copy of a contemporary Celtic View (yes, a fax) from a fan who was beside Jock Stein when he went into the crowd at Annfield that day in 1972.  It was all very cordial, of course, no one argued with Jock.

Jock was at the height of his powers.  Five years from the European Cup win, two from his last final and four months since losing a European Cup semi-final on penalties, he had yet to lose a league as Celtic manager.  His comment in the View, “The Wreckers are chanting about things that have nothing to do with football” was respected, Celtic fans went back to football matters.  But this was 1972.  News from Ireland was despairing.  Rangers fans (and according to newspaper reports, Hearts fans) were chanting “UDA” without censure, Celtic fans eventually retorted.

This is all sooo last century, apart from the consequences, of course.

Sharp focus for Sunday…

  1. The Hertz game is NOT being shown in Italy!

Just the usual EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga, French league, Dutch league, MLS pish. Not to mention Serie A.

    Thirty-odd games live!

Impossible to watch them all, but you will be lucky if five of them actually turn out to be entertaining! Usually from La Liga and the Bundesliga.

I agree that I would like to find a way to protest at UEFA’s conflicted position on political expressions at football.

I would like to do it without getting Celtic kicked out of UEFA competition.

I am open to ideas and initiatives as to how to achieve both these aims.

I wonder if we could get done for having UEFA stickers over our mouths as gags during a home qualifying tie that we expect to win?

I did, Paul Murray was eluding as to why RIFC have no scouts and that if these guys sitting at this meeting get on the board it is the first thing they will be behind, followed by great applause, next a guy comes up to the mic. With a question, but starts with ” there is no doubt that Celtic have been behind more young boys than Rangers” followed by great cheers and applause from both the floor and the main table, SMSM not chasing this one up I see, well so far any way, oh and Alky Murray said they should be selling one million strips a year, and that there has been only one pub that he has been in and saw a Blackthorn tap so it not a good logo to be on the strip, and he has been in a few watering holes I would bet.

never having once went over a price plan, i got hit with a mega charge during the summer.

on looking at the itemised bill there was a serious of calls from turkey, via my nephews phone , which ran for nearly two days constant.

phoned up, and said, how can this happen,

well you must have called them and left the phone on.

for two days ? what about the other calls and text i made during the same time this call was meant to happening, well sir cant explain that but you ust have made the call. how could i call him while using the phone normally ?

my nephew, who i trust on this tells me, i didnt call you, i wanst even using my phone away at all, i didnt call anyone,

i got charged, couldnt get out of the contract and vowed to leave this particular company soon as i could.

while away this week, mrs ss suprises me, ive orderd us new phones, same company, they called up , time for an upgrade, here you go, same-ish plan, looks good, me less than happy.

gets home called them today, i dont want an upgrade, not with you anyway, take it back,

em sorry sir, only your wife can cancel this contract, 20 mins of various press 1 press 2 options before i even got to speak to someone.

A wee update from the other night.

It appears the monitoring process at 30 June is a self certification one. CW and self certification? Go figure.

Another bit of info turned up that suggests bill was overdue mid June. SFA argue it was not an overdue payable but if it was definitely overdue then clarification needed on which of the 4 criteria applied that made it not payable.

My view subject to discussion and sight of SFA words is the process depends on trust and neither party at the Scottish end is trustworthy.

Quite what UEFA do with that I do not know but unless they are presented with this conclusion, and I stress it may change, then we will never know.

When I worked in England I was forever hearing “Wait til I tell you this one Paddy…”

    The best way to shut them up was;

Two guys, one 6 foot 3 inches tall and weighing 15 stone from Yorkshire and one 5 foot 4 inches weighing 7 stone from London, jumped off the top of Big Ben at the same time.

Which of them hits the ground first ?

Found today’s leader a bit disappointing to find out what an insulated life P67 has had, I know very few Celtic supporters who don’t support the IRA, then again there are/ were many versions and factions and I don’t know many who supported them all.

What I find most disappointing is the P67 refused to correct those hacks about the meaning of the banner and allowed the IRA distraction to take prescedence in a very important issue concerning Celtic supporters

I was convinced I was walking on grass, international size and the Falkirk boys train on it everyday. Mark Mlller on loan from Dundee Utd will be allowed to play.

The best bit about the pitch is that it it does not have those irritating tiny black rubber pellets that get everywhere, stuck in your socks millions of them in your boots,no the Falkirk pitch is covered in Green pellets. Good luck wee fat Jimmy Bell getting all those green pellets out of your smelly socks on Sat night.

Its been asked on here before, but I will do so again. Why are there so many links to Daily Mail (and others in the group) stories? I’m beginning to think it is deliberate to increase the clicks to their websites, and ultimately increase revenue.

Someone, but I can’t remember who, suggested the large number of links was because the Mail didn’t have a paywall. They don’t need one. Their revenue model relies on adverts.

“I know very few Celtic supporters who don’t support the IRA”

I think you misunderstand Paul’s point.

He was being asked to find an IRA supporting Celtic supporter willing to forego anonymity and out themselves to 4 national newspapers and be interviewed.

Do you know people willing to do that?

You and I know that the papers are not interested in exploring the nuances of Irish Republicanism but to have an example to hold up and say to Peter Lawwell “Ban this IRA apologist from CP immediately!”

We saw how Jeanette Findlay was dealt a low blow by Nicky Campbell in her Radio5Live interview a few years back. They are interested in promoting outrage not truth.

I hope any egotist who thinks they can outwit this system, thinks twice about taking on the press in their own house where they make the rules. It could only harm us.
