In the early years of our re-emergence as a ‘proper’ football team under Martin O’Neill, Celtic were patronised by the suggestion that they ‘don’t play friendlies’, largely as a result of Martin’s ability to win games against teams from south of the border.
That comment is seldom aired these days, as for many years, Celtic have stretched their muscles in friendlies without worrying too much about the score. Gordon Strachan’s teams would lose the meaningless games with regularity but would largely win the important qualifiers which followed. So much so I’d probably feel uncomfortable watching Celtic apply themselves too much when it didn’t matter.
We will get a good measure of how match fitness needs to improve ahead of Champions League qualifiers in two weeks when we face Ukrainian aide, Sevastopol, tonight. Ukrainian football is one of the most sought-after properties in the game at the moment; the Russians have been making amorous overtures to the entire league, as they hope to build a super-league by joining up with the Ukrainians. I’m sure Celtic officials will have an active interest in the subject ahead of the game.
No injuries, please, you can forget about the score.
Delighted to hear Roy Keane is coming up for the Celtic Charity #19 game for Stiliyan Petrov’s Foundation on 8 September. Stan played with some timeless Celtic heroes (Roy’s 13 games doesn’t give him enough material to qualify for this accolade) in his seven years at the club; my money is on the event selling out (ticket details at bottom of page) as they are confirmed one at a time……

Doing fine! One or two health issues but not worth posting about. Some ghuys on here have got real problems.
I take a minute or two every day to count my blessings, so doing ok!
Was in Thomas Cook this morning looking for a holiday, Glasgow Fair, they are the most expensive of all travel agents.
I was told when I tried to negotiate a discout on a holiday I liked that “there is an embargo on discounts until further notice”.
I only went in because their shop is two doors along from me!
Hope you and Dad are well too!
Cavansam thanks.
Jimmy’s should have read Jinkys, infuriating predictive text on bearly readable in sunlight Kindle fire, the near hopeless holiday accessory. Trying to steal wife’s regular Kindle all week but she’s wise to it and keeps it hidden. So off to pub with ’67minor for match soon.
Phil.
Holiday^& flight centre are good.
Young coz works there. O))

Thanks!
Because I work for myself and I’m not rich like some posters on here, I need to count my money at the end of June and see what I can afford!
Some years it’s no very much!
So, always book late for a bargain.
I was in the Cetic Store at CP with Olivia last Friday, so budget severely dented following her purchases!
Hope you are well on the way to a full recovery!
They where doing good deals for family of three Phil. Well so mrs BT told me.
October for me im afraid.
‘Attractive Ukranians’ is very apt, and certainly not an oxymoron.
Unlike ‘a handsome intelligent hun’.

The 2 fast days a week diet genuinely seems to work.
I’m on that myself as soon as I’m back from this holiday
My wife told me beside the pool today I don’t look like a 50 year old man – I look like a 50 year old woman. Much chortling from her of course.

We won 2-1, by the bye. Watt scored a cracker and Messi had to get in on the act in injury time. Fantastic performance by everyone inside Celtic Park. Fair play to the commentary team, giving us the credit we deserved, apart from one howler from Provan, who reckoned on the replay that the ref got it absolutely correct: Mascherano shouldn’t have been punished when quite blatantly said Mascherano pulls Tony Watt back right in front of goal. Mascherano, like Song, should have been off the park.

Take the train up to Oban, lift 19 bikes from the bicycle racks
at the high school and head down to Glasgow.
Phone the school and tell them to arrange a friendly fitba’ match with the school in Glasgow where you drop off the bikes.
They can take a bus doon tae the City and cycle home….Simples.

Welcome to the club!
Just keep taking the medicine and don’t eat bread, potatoes, pasta or anything with fat in it.
Cut down on red meat and substitute with fish and chicken.
Start going for walks and build up slowly to some decent exercise.
And the best bit is, nae drink!!
Until you reach your target wieght.
I’ve lost 17 lbs since the start of the year.
I’ve now got my Superman shape back…..but I’ve found it hard.
Best of luck and take care.

Sorry to hear that, but you know what the doc says makes sense.
Fish, amigo. Fish is your friend. Fresh or frozen. It’s not dearer than meat and you can get some good deals in places like Aldi. We bought tuna steaks there for less than £3.
You can steam it, bake it, grill it or barbecue it. It goes with potatoes, rice, pasta, salad, everything. It doesn’t take long to cook.

This is my fourth week on eating sensibly, have lost 5 kilos so far.
Just restrict your intake to less than 1500 calories a day.
