In the early years of our re-emergence as a ‘proper’ football team under Martin O’Neill, Celtic were patronised by the suggestion that they ‘don’t play friendlies’, largely as a result of Martin’s ability to win games against teams from south of the border.
That comment is seldom aired these days, as for many years, Celtic have stretched their muscles in friendlies without worrying too much about the score. Gordon Strachan’s teams would lose the meaningless games with regularity but would largely win the important qualifiers which followed. So much so I’d probably feel uncomfortable watching Celtic apply themselves too much when it didn’t matter.
We will get a good measure of how match fitness needs to improve ahead of Champions League qualifiers in two weeks when we face Ukrainian aide, Sevastopol, tonight. Ukrainian football is one of the most sought-after properties in the game at the moment; the Russians have been making amorous overtures to the entire league, as they hope to build a super-league by joining up with the Ukrainians. Re Crete: depends what you are looking for. Malia is for teenage madness. Chaina and Aghios Nikaloas are busy towns with lots therein. There are several Cretan holiday resorts with beautiful beaches and slow pace: Aghia Galini Makriyialos. If you end up at the western side and are fit enough. Take on the Samaria Gorge truly beautiful trek from the island’s top to bottom

Starry, You need incentive. Post your weight on here at a specific time on a specific day each week. If you haven’t lost any weight we can slag the erse off you, if you do you will get all the plaudits. Re advice I agree with fanad, I’m not a fan of diets, once you go back to normal eating the weight goes back on. I’d eat normally but just replace fattening stuff with low calorie alternatives and take plenty of exercise. Also VIP drink plenty of water. Re Cholesterol a pal of mine started using stuff called Zero-Chol which he got from health Shop and dropped from 6.6 to 5.6 in 8 weeks. I’m trying it now but have another 6 weeks to my next blood test to see if its working if not Doc is going to put me on Statins.
Who is Henderson. Is he an Academy player, can’t remember ever hearing anything about him.
Sorry just scrolled back and saw Kojo talking about the lad. Will be interesting to see how he goes.
