KYOGO FURUHASHI has completed his £10million move to French outfit Rennes.
Filipe Jota, of course, has just sealed his switch as he takes the opposite direction on his return to Celtic after an absence of 18 months.
Kyogo has ended his three and a half year association with the Hoops in which he scored 85 goals following his £4.6million arrival from J-League Vissel Kobe in July 2021 as one of Ange Postecoglou’s first recruits as he revamped the ailing Parkhead team.
READY TO GO…Kyogo Furuhashi in the colours of new club Rennes.
The Japanese international frontman, who celebrated his 30th birthday a week ago, leaves the champions with applause from the grateful fans who took the little striker to their hearts.
So, we say: “Au revoir et merci, Kyogo.”
Or, if you prefer: “Goodbye and thanks, Kyogo.”
The pacy attack-leader is swopping silverware for survival at a club who have just dropped into the third bottom place in the 18-team Ligue 1, as CQN reported earlier today.
Kyogo, speaking to local media, said: “I’m really looking forward to getting to know Stade Rennais and my new team-mates.
“I hope to make a rapid contribution to the team’s performances.
FAREWELL, CELTIC…Kyogo Furuhashi applauds the Celtic fans after his two goals in the recent 4-1 win over Ross County in Dingwall.
“After some great years with Celtic, I was looking for a new challenge in a recognised league. Physically and technically, the league is very competitive.
“The coach and the directors told me how much they wanted me to bring my qualities and experience.
“The club is not in the position it has been in for the last few seasons, and our objective will be to climb back up the league table.
“I feel ready to give my all with Rennes.”
Bonne chance, Kyogo!
