The comment in today’s Telegraph by Joe Ledley confirming that, in the event they win the league early, Celtic have considered giving players some extended rest period before the end of the season has a lot of focus about it.
We have Champions League qualifiers starting on 2 July and hopefully extending six games later in the last week in August, all plans must be made with the objective of being as strong as possible for these games.
Last season APOEL Nicosia got through the Champions League group stages, beat Lyon in the last 16, before being stopped in the quarters by Real Madrid, but their European adventure this season was ended in August by Neftchi Baku. Rangers run to the Uefa Cup final in 2008 was quickly followed by an August elimination at the hands of the mighty Kaunas. We don’t need reminded of what happened in 2005, when the club formerly known as Artmedia Bratislava, and no longer playing top flight football, caught Celtic cold. Five times.
I’m keen to hear from Celtic on policing and stewarding at games. The club have to be attentive to all season ticket holders who feel they have been poorly treated, by police or stewards. Processes to deal with such matters must be open to supporter groups to audit, perhaps even to administer. Delegate thus, and you resolve many concerns.
The Lions Roar event at the Kerrydale Suite on 1 March, with a film of the 1967 European Cup final, will have commentary from Bertie Auld, Stevie Chalmers, Bobby Lennon, Jim Craig, John Fallon, Charlie Gallacher, Billy McNeill, John Clark and John Hughes. Mike Jackson will also be there with Billy. Tickets went on sale six days ago and there are only a few left…..

Perhaps it might be useful if the Green Brigade were to tell us all how many of their members, have actually been arrested say since the start of the reason. The GB could also stipulate the charges, the courts, the sentences and whether a football ban was part of the judicial process. It would be useful if we knew where the arrest took place, (ie at home, work, the CSA etc) as opposed to where the alleged offence was deemed to have taken place, ie at Celtic Park, and whether the evidence is likely to have been provided by say Celtic FC, or not as the case may be. Have any of the arrests involved breaches of banning orders, yes or no? Is there a pattern of targeted arrests particularly in Glasgow? Is there evidence of a deliberate campaign by Strathclyde Police in conjunction with Celtic PLC to target the Green Brigade, and indeed to eliminate it? Not convinced on that yet.
Celtic Mac @ might I add to your list details of any out of court settlements by GB members.

What glasgow cops do at the weekend is this. Lift some guy usually drunk on his own . Bam up said guy. Lift him for breach . Call for van car etc. Drive to stuart st spend three hours booking in . Before you know its six a.m and ahift over.

Italian footwear?
I dont know if you have been to Italy recently, but what I have noticed is that the height of heels over here among the footwear of the female population has reached vertiginous levels.
They are doing untold damage to their ankles, calves, knees and general posture – they have been warned of this for years: but they refuse to listen!
All in the name of fashion!

‘Well Ernie, We all have our reasons for wanting or not wanting independence. For me the chance to ditch the Butchers Apron should be taken.’
You talk about independence but I assume you’d want to be a member of the EU, which would suggest that you’re not against political unions as such, just a political union with the English and Welsh. As for the butchers apron, the saltire is an integral part of it, and for good reason. The Scots played a disproportionate part in forging and defending the British empire. I don’t see any difference between waving a saltire or a union jack. ‘
Deary me, Ernie. Fair enough the people who fly the saltire and union jack round your way aren’t the nicest of people and I understand why you would hate that. However, there is an argument for independence that isn’t so much about waving flags of any colour but about assuring more local decision making in line with what people want. I’ll never wave a saltire but I’d like Scotland to be independent and progressive. As for Scottish people fighting for the Empire – of course it happened. More Irishmen fought for Franco than for the Republican side too but I”m not sure what that would tell either of us about Ireland’s right to self-determination.

Indeed iki if no party exists there is always the anarchist route. There is however the chance to help mould party policy to one more in line with what you want. Not saying that would be easy , but it would be easier than it is right now.

Been there, done it, bought the Tshirt and badge.
You seem to think that I am not for independence.
I do not think that my previous post argued for being better together.
Thanks but no thanks for the offer of off-blog discussion.
Off-blog? Sounds like a Quango for controlling internet bampots. (wee smiley thing)
No recent visits Tallybhoy. My regard for Italian women is generally enthusiastic and I’d be glad to take the weight off their feet.

To be specific – if you look at 158 from outside of 154 – does anyone else see the wrestling move?
Absolutely, couldn’t agree more…
“Finally, we call on Celtic FC to make a public statement on the issues raised by the GB. It is simply not tenable for the current custodians of the Club to remain silent while fans are being subjected to this appalling treatment.”

That would also be a useful statistic, along with how many cases are continued etc etc. We need to know the numbers involved even if they tell us only part of the story, the police are more than capable of threatening and intimidating without resort to the chargesheet.
Who’s complaining abt Neils lovely top? Some peepil have just no taste!! o))

Not at all iki dont wish to brainwash anyone . It pleases me more to know you have thought about it. Some dont but the politics affect them the same.
Apart from the massive financial uncertainties over independence, I think those of us of a, er, nonPresbyterian persuasion should be looking very closely at the cultural trends in Scotland today.
I don’t see a modern, fair minded country struggling to break free. I see quite a dark wee place, where Catholicism would not pass unnoticed as it does in England and Wales…
Celtic Mac @16:58 it would not help if people were to settle out of court because such settlements usually involve a shut up clause, which would suit the police and possibly Celtic. Although I can understand the temptation.
A question in case anyone has the answer at their fingertips. Does consumer protection legislation encompass season tickets?

Celtic Football Club Statement
By: Newsroom Staff on 18 Feb, 2013 17:00
OVER the course of the weekend, the Club has been made aware of further reports and allegations concerning the ill-treatment of supporters by police at Celtic Park.
Celtic Football Club will not tolerate any unjust or inappropriate treatment of our supporters. The health, safety and well-being of our supporters is of paramount importance.
It is important that we deal in facts:
We have continually asked our supporters to report any incidents of ill-treatment or harassment directly to the Club and our absolute commitment has been that each incident or complaint will be investigated.
In addition, in December last year, it was agreed with our supporters’ groups that any such complaints could also be made through the Fans Against Criminalisation Group (The Celtic Supporters´ Association, The Green Brigade, The Affiliation of Registered Celtic Supporters´ Clubs, the Association of Irish Celtic Supporters´ Clubs and The Celtic Trust). Click HERE for more details.
Since December last year, we have received two complaints directly to the Club, both of which have been addressed.
As a reminder, should any supporter wish to make any complaint in relation to any form of ill-treatment or harassment, then they can do so by using the FAC link/email or contact the Club directly.
Email: fansagainstcriminalisation@gmail.com
Email: operations@celticfc.co.uk
Furthermore, Celtic has now proposed that, together with its supporters´ groups, we establish a Complaints Panel consisting of supporter and Club representatives. This group will administer any complaints and will provide feedback to supporters.
Accusations suggesting that the Club is in some way involved in targeting supporters are ludicrous. These accusations have absolutely no foundation whatsoever and, of course, are very disappointing.
We have enjoyed an exciting season so far and the Club is in fantastic shape on and off the field. Our supporters have, of course, played a huge role in this. What would be the Club’s motivation for being involved in activity which targets or victimises supporters? It is simply not true. It does not make sense.
Celtic has worked very hard over many years to ensure a positive relationship with its many supporters´ groups. We are delighted that we work together so regularly in the best interests of Celtic.
The health and safety of our supporters is our absolute priority and clearly the Club takes its responsibility in this area extremely seriously. In this regard, however, there is also a need for all supporters to ensure the highest standards of behaviour in order to create a safe environment at Celtic Park and other stadia in which to watch and enjoy football.
We are pleased to outline the Club’s position on this matter and are delighted to work with our supporters to ensure that any needs or concerns are addressed.
Leggo articulates the Loyalist problem with Neil.
He’s an unrepentant taig and gallus with it.
He has the temerity to wear colours on his tracksuit which co incide with the Irish Flag, he’s red haired and doesn’t even try to hide the fact, he spoke about a 32 county Irish Football Team in positive terms, his middle name is Francis and he’s mouthy.
Leggo and his ilk dress it up in footy banter type language but it’s depressing and sinister.
It’s like saying people from Jamaica, over here to take our jobs as bus conductors, go about with colourful Ethiopean bunnets, flaunt their crinkly black hair, talk up life in the Carribean, disrespectfully call themselves Winston and like reggae.
The subtext of all of that is that he/we should be secretly ashamed of our ‘differentness’ and not so ready to shove it in the faces of true Scots like him. We should ,even unto the fifth and sixth generation, assimilate ourselves . Use of the ‘foreign’ label in reference to the Irish flag is eloquent of the mindset. Modern Europeans , like the Irish, might scoff at folloishness like that in the 21st Century but it’s existence here, in Aul scotai, is a fact and unlikely to disappear anytime soon.

Good statement by the club. Hopefully the club and the green brigade can find a way of moving forward on this…

Ach, it’s only the windolene drinker Leggo, no one with half a brain takes him seriously. He’s even an embarrassment to the scottish sporting press which is pretty hard considering their low standards
and here is the song my 16.29 post was referring to

So who’s telling porkies?
Italiabhoy
The presbos say the same reversed. The thing is these guys are mostly old and dying off . Look at church attendances and the horrid odour order for confirmation. On the other hand look at young organisations like radical independence and see what their visions are. For what its worth its the young ones that will inherit the decision and they seem to be coming round to choosing yes. Imo religion will play less and less of a part in society whether we remain within the uk or not.
Excellent – what I wanted to hear…

Cover version of the Python Lee Jackson classic???
In fairness to celtic, I would never have expected them to suggest contacting FAC. After all, was it not the day of the FAC protest against the bill before the hibs game when plod went charging into Section 111 with little regard for the safety of others?
Can’t imagine FOCUS would be happy with the club publicly telling fans with concerns to contact FAC
Furthermore, Celtic has now proposed that, together with its supporters´ groups, we establish a Complaints Panel consisting of supporter and Club representatives. This group will administer any complaints and will provide feedback to supporters.
………….
Positive move.
I find the other remarks bureaucratic nonsense. To say we asked for complaints and only got two has an inference that they did not think there was a problem.
Hopefully they can meet with supporter groups and sort this out. Confidence and trust has to be built.
People do not complain to you if they think you are part of the problem.
It really should be easy enough to find out who is telling the truth.
The club say they are not involved in passing info to the police.
The GB say they are.
The GB also say that the head of security has appeared in court to give evidence against their members, that should be easy enough to check, and if they are correct that the Celtic head of security has indeed given evidence against them, I know who I would tend to believe.
Italiabhoy, a dark wee country?! PMSL! what an absolute load of nonsense! are you still living in Italy by any chance? Look, the Orange Order are against Independence, why dont all the wee downtrodden folk like you join political forces with them?!!
absolute tripe spouted on this board at times, usually by the same fear mongering pro- union types. Inshallah, we will get independence and we elect a progressive, dynamic, multi political and POSITIVE government
Firstly, that Leggat story is a wind-up surely, even for him. Im sure i’ve seen similar stuff pertaining to be from him before but done tongue in cheek.
Secondly, club statement gives me some reason for optimism and hopefully this problem ie.the police, can be tackled head on now.
The GB have asked to meet with PL + the club to discuss the harassment of the group.
PL cancelled the original meeting due to being very busy. Despite requests from the GB to arrange a new date there has been no response from the club.
By the time Celtic set up this ‘Complaints Panel’ the GB will have chucked it due to the ongoing harassment.
And the club know it.
will the club consider complaints from those harrassed away from Celtic Park e.g. airports, homes, workplaces
“Celtic Football Club will not tolerate any unjust or inappropriate treatment of our supporters.”
I have some trouble with that sentence. Stewards were telling fans if they went in on Saturday they’d get the jail. Celtic employees were aware of the intentions of the police on Saturday and senior employees were in Janefield Street very close to kick off time.
If fans are harassed they must inform the club, log your complaints and don’t let them away with this
