On loan at Birmingham City during season 2022-23 transformed Auston Trusty (26) from an Arsenal project into a respected defender in the English Championship. Just two years earlier, Cameron Carter-Vickers earned the same reputation in that division with Bournemouth as a loanee from Tottenham.
Auston spent last season with one of the busiest jobs in football, central defender at Sheffield United, who lost 28 of their 38 Premier League games, a campaign which saw them finish bottom after only three wins. The central defender role at Celtic could hardly be more different.
Celtic have broken their transfer record only once since Chris Sutton arrived in the summer of 2000 – with then-20-year-old Odsonne Edouard’s £9m signing in 2018. We are back paying big bucks for another 20-year-old today, with the anticipated arrival of Arne Engels (the Belgian turns 21 next weekend).
At this age, central midfielders can be adapted to fit whatever role their manager thinks best. Consider Callum McGregor’s migration from a No. 7, to an 8, to a 6. We are going to need plenty of energy in the middle of the park this season, one of the characteristics I expect we’ll see in Arne.

THE BLOGGER FORMERLY KNOWN AS GM on 30TH AUGUST 2024 10:07 PM
Melvin – sorry to offend but best case he’s a moron.
—————
You’ve not offended me pal. I just think that kind of bullying is uncalled for.
People entitled to their opinions without a pile-on of name calling.
Isn’t that what a blog is for?

Don’t think there’s any need for that or others calling people Huns and morons.
Just because someone’s glass isn’t half full, doesn’t warrant those types of insults.
We all see things how we see them and should be able to express that without worrying about personalised attacks.

First game was home to St Johnstone in August 1969. I was only six and don’t remember why I was allowed to the game. I went with an uncle who took lots of family in a transit van every week. My memory of the game is being told to look out for a new young player who was going to be brilliant (Vic Davidson) and playing tig with a cousin the same age , as we ran in and out of everybody around us.
45 to go. Although sky suggested a “deal sheet”. If the bones of a deal is signed by both parties , the remaining transaction can run until 1am. Offering some flex and time. (Not sure if specific to England or UK)
Sky reporters from Celtic & Rangers .. Mark Benstead outside testing ground .. Luke Shandley reporting from inside Celtic park next to the grass …
Obviously good position for Engels & Trusty coming out the tunnel

Drambowiecelt – how right you are, they lived through the very thin times – they are with me every time I watch the Bhoys
I think the McCowan signing will be great business especially in the league games. Our squad will be stretched with the new European League format.

A verbal agreement has been reached between Celtic and Dundee for the transfer of Luke McCowan.
The player is now on his way to Glasgow to complete the deal.
Paul the spark. Right on. Can help Hatate and McGregor as has similar qualities. He’s gallus!
Luke McCowen sp? Confirmed by Sky as signed
I Million for McCowan, most exciting window in years.
Not much money going about in this window.
Quietest I can remember.
I’m really pleased about McCowan. He can tackle, pass a ball well and shoot. Brendan can make him a much better player.
Fecking Lawwell wasting all our money…Who does he think he is
Brother Walfrid spinning in his grave..

So far Celtic are on 15 million euros without the 13 million euros for engel and the 1.2 for mccowan

Celtic`s recent record v Huns:

But many pundits, including ex-Celts, say you can never predict the result of an Old Firm game. Hmm..
What is the Starz on 30th August 2024 10:35 pm
:-))))
Goodnight all.
First game vs Killie January 1961. I was 10. Bobby Carroll scored the first, Stevie Chalmers got the second. Standing under the floodlights between the Celtic end and The Jungle with my oldest brother. Game ended 2-2. Can’t, or won’t, remember the Killie goals. Always thought we won 2-0 until I looked it up a couple of years ago. Was introduced to my somewhat distant uncle, Paddy Crerand, after the game and stole some Parkhead grass as a souvenir.
Jinky..and me ..Remember every name ..The squad that taught me all the rebel songs ..
My Dad ..Benny Curran (gardener) Benny the painter…Jim McKay…John Bamford…
Ginger….Joe gibbons….John Mcmillan…Jada Kane….As the seasons went on I was able to sing..
Everything ….Wearin o the green.. irish soldier boy ..Dyin Rebel.
Smashin o the van…Kelly the boy from Kilarne etc etc….
That got me a half croon……on the way home .win or lose lol…..
Delighted with the signings .. but just as delighted who already have the jerseys…
Don’t think any of the new signings will start our next league game …
And I suppose all the people who stated Brendan was going to walk might pop back on to say he might still be sticking about …
Roll on Sunday … always confident against any form of The Rangers … only doubt is surely they must get a victory one of these days … but hopefully not this weekend
Great window.
James Forrest does not think so.
Oh dear.
FFS Celtic really taking the Drama to a new level.
Gftb,
Why would they be due a win?
If we played Stranraer 20 times, you would not expect them to win one.

I know … but even in our dark days we actually beat them now and again ..
Even I can admit they are a bit better than Stranraer and Beaton & Dallas aren’t even Stranraer fans
All kidding aside I think we will pump them but don’t want to be too confident online :-)
