Avoiding Bobo, Crown Office, Keyser Soze

653

Well done to Tony Hamilton and his team at Celtic Charity as well as the 60,000 participants for a memorable weekend which confirmed the spirit and heritage of the club.  It was great to see Martin O’Neill and Kenny Dalglish revel in, as well as so many of our more recent heroes, some of whom are aging better than others.

Credit also to the English Premier League players who turned up in such numbers, and who spent 85 minutes avoiding Bobo Balde, after Robert Pires ‘met’ the central defender early in yesterday’s game.  For all the array of talent on show over the weekend to prize goes to Carlos Cuellar, who spent £11k at the charity auction in the Kerrydale Suite on Friday night, the biggest donor by some distance.

The wee guy from One Direction looked terrified from the moment he first flicked his hair on the touchline, and he was on the same team as Bobo.  I’m sure he’ll recover quickly from his knock and enjoy telling the story for decades to come.

Henrik still has it, his movement was unmistakable but ‘Big Greenock’ looked like he was still 22.

The report by the Scottish Law Reporter yesterday that the Crown Office are in possession of material in which prosecutors refer to possible “discussions between former Police Officers employed by a media firm connected to Rangers FC and serving Police officers” moves the debate on recent well-publicised leaks onto a new level.

Charlotte Fakes has apparently been reported to police for inappropriately obtaining material.  While this has yet to be established, the act of reporting the content as being inappropriately obtained, had the unintended consequence of confirming the authenticity of the material.  All of which puts the content of said material under scrutiny.

Post-Leveson the media have been cautious on reporting Charlotte Fakes material without clear evidence that a crime had been committed by ‘victims’ of the leak.  If the Crown Office have now acted, parts of the media still independent may be emboldened.

With Charlotte Fakes now as easy to find as Keyser Soze the direction of the police investigation will be difficult to predict.

  1. LiviBhoy - God bless wee Oscar on

    Geordie Munro

The current Celtic squad has more CL appearances than most of the bottom half of the EPL players put together. I love the myth that the English think their league is streets ahead of anywhere else. Would love an English team in the last 16 of the CL.

  2. scotlands shame on

Geordie munro exactly. Were Celtic in epl then any player not signing for top 6 club wud choose us ahead of all the also rans down there. Comparing squads the now is like comparing apples an bananas but suits folks agenda.

  3. Scotlands shame, it’s like saying how well would man utd etc do if their telly money was cut from what it is now to somewhere close to a million quid!?

Summa, that’s ok. We have our fair share of dafties too:)

  4. Arthur Calwell ?.

I read his memoirs [ can’t remember the title ]. Bought second hand from a wee place in Bank Street .

Strongly denied he was a racist but insisted that Australia wouldn’t /couldn’t survive if it became a multi racial society.

  5. Big up for Tony Hamilton and all others (players, fans, managers, celebs, etc) connected with a truly unique day in Scottish football, and on this occassion the money will go to charity and not to Charlie Green’s retirement fund.

“When the Celtic squad is looked at, it doesn’t even compare to the squads of even the worst teams in the Premier League. In short, they would be in a relegation fight”

Presumably the worst teams in the EPL would be qualifying for the knockout rounds of the CL, being that in the last two seasons Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City (twice) have failed to do so…..

    ………………………………………………………

    Nothing to stop you.

Guje Borgesson, the mother of a Swedish girl Annie who was found dead on Prestwick beach petitioned the parliament calling for a Fatal Accident Inquiry into all suspicious deaths.

She was let down by the parliament and MSPs who treated her as if she was a paranoid mother not prepared to accept that her daughter had taken her own life by drowning.

There was no evidence of suicide and a fair bit of evidence to the contrary but it is simpler for the police and authorities to simply rule out foul play and attribute death to suicide. There are several other cases like this where overwhelming evidence of murder/manslaughter is simply not investigated for various reasons and accidental death or suicide is given as the cause of death.

Simply, yes one foreign national that I know of has petitioned the parliament.

  14. WIGAN manager Owen Coyle has a clause

in his contract that will allow him to take

the reins at Celtic if the position becomes

    vacant.

    Dave Whelan, chairman of the

    Lancashire side, appointed former

Bolton boss Coyle in the summer, and

was asked if he could see the FAI

contacting him about the former Dundee

    United striker replacing Giovanni

Trappatoni as manager of the Republic

    of Ireland national side.

Trapattoni endured a torrid time at the

    2012 European Championships, with

Ireland scoring just one goal and letting

in nine and their recent 2-1 home defeat

to Sweden in a World Cup qualifier has

left them with a mountain to climb if

they are to reach the finals in Brazil in

    2014.

Recent results have led to some people

    questioning the 74-year-old’s abilities,

and Coyle was one name mentioned as a

    possible replacement.

Whelan said: “You never know. One

thing [Owen] said to me when I gave

him the job was ‘If Celtic ever come in I

    want the job at Celtic’.

    “That’s one thing I respect.”

Mention the Masons or Orange Order and fear becomes a factor.

Fear of retribution, by violence or otherwise is a spectre that lurks around these groups. Not without good cause.

Then there is the fact that most people simply do not want to stand up and be counted.

The latter factor is mitigated when numbers rise and there comes a time of critical mass (over 1000) when people feel more comfortable and this applies to the former as well in that there is a perception of safety in numbers……they can’t kill/harm us all.

But the man/woman working in an engineering works where the bosses slink away on a Wednesday night with their wee brief-cases would think twice about signing a petition of this sort especially if they had a name that was unusual like…..well…….like…. Minogue.

Beautiful and heart breaking thanks for posting. Some of the posts on here about others seeking refuge are deeply disturbing. Ironic given that so many of the Celtic support are the descendants of refugees.

  23. I was unfortunate to be 20 in 1989, just as i was really into going to the games home and away, ‘they’ were winning all the time, and ‘he’ was scoring against us with astonishing regularity (I think he ended up with 27 goals against us).

Big Roy was my hero back in the day, but endlessly skint, caught ball watching, a yard slow and must have hauled him down at least half a dozen times, ensuring a spot-kick.

Henrik on the other hand was scoring against the top defenders and the top goalkeepers in the world (not in europe) when he was at his peak, and I think if you asked most players in Europe at the time they would rate him the best.

McCoist did score a barrel load there is no doubt about that, but I dont think he could have got anywhere near Henke.
