ANGE POSTECOGLOU has been named the Premiership Manager of the Month for August.
The 57-year-old Greek-Australian gaffer has led the Hoops to five successive league wins since the start of the season to go into tomorrow’s home Glasgow derby two points ahead of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Ibrox outfit.
The holders will also face Motherwell in the Premier Sports League Cup quarter-final at Fir Park next month following their 4-1 victory over Ross County in Dingwall in midweek.
As reward for a flawless record, Postecoglou has picked up the boss’ honour for the sixth time since arriving at Parkhead in June last year. The champions have netted 21 goals in their Premiership outings, including nine in the landslide win over Dundee United at Tannadice on Sunday.
APPLAUSE…Ange Postecoglou returns the crowd’s accolade after the 9-0 win at Tannadice.
At the other end of the field, Joe Hart has been required to retrieve the ball from the back of his net just once, in the 3-1 victory over Malky Mackay’s club in the Highlands last month.
The Hoops boss, speaking to the Celtic website, said: “It’s pleasing to receive this award again which, as ever, is received by us all as a wider team and recognises the collective efforts of the players and my backroom team.
“We’ve worked hard in the early part of the season, delivering some excellent performances and really positive results, but we know we will need to maintain these really high levels to achieve what we want.
“I would also like to thank our fans who, as ever, have been magnificent once again all month in supporting us.”
