Back pages filled with empty nonsense

My inbox today was full of angst at the latest series of ‘favourites’ for the manager’s job.  There are upwards of 20 journalists working on this story right now, each of whom need to push the story on every day.

No information?  Tough, write something.  Not found a single person Peter Lawwell has spoken to?  Hard lines, get Ownie’s neighbour’s granny on again, she’ll be good for a word.

Who’s fault is this?  The journos are just doing a job, the media have space to fill – and it will be filled with any type of speculation.  We all know the rules so why take the bait?

By the time the news of Neil’s resignation leaked out on Thursday Celtic’s moves were already underway.  Potential candidates jockeyed for position in the limelight for a couple of days, and for most cases they were disappointed the call didn’t arrive.  Even Henrik was talking about returning to Celtic at one point, only to reaffirm his commitment to his current employers a couple of days later.

Agents will also be busy offering their clients, Celtic will respond respectfully, but just because an agent opens a one-sided dialogue doesn’t mean meaningful dialogue is taking place.  Celtic will also speak to applicants out of courtesy.  If a former player or prominent candidate asks to be considered, you can expect Celtic to meet them, whether they have a genuine interest or not.

>90% of this activity will be fruitless.  Some of it will seep out into the public domain but it is vastly more likely that those wanting to raise their profile make the newspapers, as opposed to those Celtic have approached.

  4. I don’t post much but had to say my bit!

The problem with Owen Coyle, for me, is that just about every time the guy speaks, he comes out with “the EPL, in my opinion, the best league in the world” pish. That does my nut in and he says it when reporting on Scottish games, feckoff back down there if anyone will have you then! In saying that, if they appoint him, I will support him.

I would go and get Poyet, that would be tough, I know but he may fancy a crack at the UCL.

    No need for worry.

Just beware of opportunistic infections in the short term.

The first few months are the most dangerous.

The meds will taper off slowly as the immediate dangers pass.

As Kojo says he will have a new lease of life and feel like a young man again.

It is truly a second shot, but the family should be prepared to suffer the mood swings and occasional illnesses.

My wife created a new hole in the ozone, spraying door handles and anything the kids and grand kids had touched.

I still am reluctant to shake hands with anyone and if someone sneezes or coughs nearby I have been known to scowl and pass remarks about hygiene.

From earlier: Good to hear. We have around 700 players from age 4 to adult, male and female, able and otherwise, playing football for the club each week.

While the Lowland League team get the headlines, and goodness, they deserve them after the cup win on Saturday, the purpose of the club is to use football to create more cohesion and belonging in the town. It seems to be working.

Welcome any time, and if you know any players born 1997, let me know!

Not posting anywhere as much as I used to, (I know) I know a guy who works with Coyle’s brother and says, “He wouldn’t touch it with a barge poll”. Take from that what you will.

I couldn’t care less about Owen Coyle turnin us down before it’s the fact he played shockin football and managed to get relegated with both burnley and Bolton into the bargain that should rule him completely out of the equation for the managers job at Celtic.

I’m actually having nitemares at the thought of no champions league football, Owen Coyle in charge and a half empty parkhead for league matches next season.

Murat yakin, Michael laudrup, oscar Garcia, are all foreign names that would excite fans and give us somethin different. Closer to home Steve Clark, Steve mclaren, Malky mackay would be better bets than Coyle.

  26. kevinlasvegas on

I know, But the guy’s no reason to lie to me and I hope he’s right, Coyle not for me.
