Back to black for Celtic

592

19 years after last having money in the bank, all we needed was ‘Armageddon’ to allow Celtic to return to the black.

Despite a drop in income from domestic football turnover increased an incredible 47.7% to £75.82m thanks to participation in the Champions League, leaving a balance of £3.76m in the bank (after season ticket money arrived in) on 30 June 2013.

The profit for last season of £9.74m more than made up for the loss of £7.37m made when competing with others who were subsequently found to be unwilling (not just unable) to pay their bills.

This summer’s transfers were split between the financial year just reported and the current period, with a £9.66m investment in football personnel and £5.19m recouped from player disposal (clearly the Wanyama sale was post-year-end.

These figures are retrospective and would have read hollow if the club didn’t reach the Champions League again this season.  With that status achieved we are now in a remarkably strong position to continue to scout, recruit, develop talent and improve the playing squad.

More detailed analysis tomorrow.

What’s all this garbage from Rangers fans about our club’s accounts. The last time their former club posted accounts that had any connection with reality I was thin and had black hair. Nowadays I answer to ‘Santa’

My children will tell you, they used to get over fed before the game. Refuse to pay rip off prices for poor fare in the stadium.

  11. unusually for me I am in this parish on a Monday, driving earlier between 7-7.30 so I decided to listen to SSB . Big mistake , the quality of caller is even worse than I remember, I heard two guys on ,Celtic supporters, now we like to crow about how thick the other lot are, but dear God we had a couple of charmers on tonight.

Both of them making no sense and the depth of their arguement was minimal, I was reaslly surprised they were not binned after 90 seconds. Perhaps it shows how poor the quality of caller and listener is nowadays.

My Hun radar was on full alert when one of the Celtic supporters referred to Scotlands best young manager as “Alistair McCoist” , fishy.

Sorry , I missed your reply.

I think our board are doing a wonderful job.

But it is all predicated on us achieving CL football.

The planning for qualification this season left a lot to be desired.IMHO.

You are forgetting that I have been referred to for years , and on many occasions , as a mineshafter.

I care deeply about our club.

The Hun has not gone away.

The Zombie will replace the Hun soon enough.

I have always said that The Rnagers would not die.

The club may have , but their Catholic /Celtic/Fenian hating supporters will always be there to try and persecute us.

We will be able to molligate them if we have a strong financial advantage.

Make no bones about it .

There hatred for all things Celtic has only strengthened .

My views are held out of concern to stay above them.

    Complacency was their downfall.

I don’t want it to be ours.

There is a loan of around £20m (from the Co-op Bank) due to be repaid in 2019. They do not seem to have paid much of it back since it was taken out in the early O’Neill years.

    ————————————————–

We will be on 9 in a row by then. DVD sales will cover the loan.

  16. My boss is Peter Principle on

Yesterday it was £2000 so today you have saved £800.

Celtic really need to look at the benefits .

A free pie and programme , plus preference for away tickets is not much of an incentive for an additional£1200 per season .

    Celt for life 08.42

I was told by steward in the business class section yesterday that it would “next month”.

    They haven’t a clue.

I was told the same thing last month.

The have given the Business class lounges a modern sparkle ( see what I did there Ronnie)yet there are not enough seats.

Fans paying the better part of £2k , and they have to sit on the edge if window sills.

Meanwhile the Kerrydale lounge has plenty and is free.

Celtic had better think this one out or they are about to lose a few Business class season ticket holders.

That’s where we disagree. I think the board is doing a good not wonderful job. If they are doing a wonderful job the figures would not be dependant on cl group stage to keep us in the black.

Why are the media stating that sevco are recognised by Uefa as being oldco whe all they have to do is go onto the Uefa site and type in ‘rangers’….up comes the detail on the llast season of the now zombied team…..lload of plonkers in the SMSM

  23. Quite amazing the number of goalies who have played in the SPL performing now in the EPL. Marshall, Boruc, Ruddy, Sperroni and the wan fae yon deid team, who plies his trade with Hull, are all first picks. Great to see Davie Marshall particularly playing so well.

When any sevco fan pipes up with you owe the co-op £30m when talking about our financial results .

    Just say

If that is true it must mean WE are the same club ,so when are your club going to be paying the £59m you owe to 276 creditors .
