FORMER Celtic keeper Scott Bain will make a quickfire return to the Premiership after signing a one-year deal with newly-promoted Falkirk.

The 33-year-old former Scotland international No.1 was released by the champions last week and has been snapped up by Bains boss John McGlynn, according to a report on STV Sports.

Bain agreed to moving on with a year of his Parkhead contract still to run after dropping down to third in the pecking order behind Kasper Schmeichel and Viljami Sinisalo.

The shotstopper, who joined the Hoops in an initial loan switch from Dundee in January 2018 before the move was made permanent the following summer, is looking for regular game time and he could get that with the Premiership new boys.

Bain has been patient throughout his seven-and-a-half years at Celtic where has regularly had to play understudy to Craig Gordon, Joe Hart and Schmeichel.

The netminder, who also had spells at Aberdeen and Alloa, won 14 honours during his time in Glasgow.
