Balance returning, Magnificent effort

1052

After a tenacious win in Paisley on Friday Celtic were back in the groove last night.  Passing was swift and accurate, movement – perpetual.  It was a quiet game for Kris Commons, which at an earlier time would have meant a game with few chances for Celtic, but the prodding of Johansen, Armstrong and Mackay-Steven ensured Thistle played much of the game trying to chase shadows.

The return from injury of two of our three right backs, Adam Matthews and Darnell Fisher, has given the team better balance, although Adam still looks to be finding his sharpness.

John Guidetti established his early season reputation against Thistle with a League Cup hat trick but that seemed like a lifetime ago last night.  The striker had the odd chance but the terror he inspired in defenders a few months ago has gone.

Enormous thanks to winning bidder for our Open Golf Championship Hospitality competition, which finished a moment ago raising £2050 for our School Kitchen project for Mary’s Meals in Malawi.  Thanks to Eden Mill Distillery and Brewery in St Andrews and all who participated.

It was a stunning effort and the money is now in place to complete the fourth CQN school kitchen!  Well done to all who played their part.

Celtic sponsor, Magners, who have helped from the beginning of this recent school kitchen project, have a competition to play at Lennoxtown and Celtic Park.  You can enter your 7-a-side team into the Magnificent 7s competition before 5pm Wednesday 15th.  It would be good to see CQN represented.  Qualifying round takes place at Lennoxtown on Sunday 26 April with the finals at Celtic Park.

    o.g rafferty.

Memory ( not a reliable thing ) says that he tried to argue that RFC was already registered….Don’t remember a motive being attributed but I imagine he would have been willing to come to an agreement if he had been successful. Think he ended up paying costs.

Newco fans try to claim historical links to a former club which once polluted Scottish football with its institutionalised sectarianism, can’t think why you’d wish to.Wee Fergus made a statement at the time of his takeover which went something like ” we could have saved money by purchasing the club for one pound but it’s reputation would have never recovered.” Now it appears Ashley will even own the name Rangers.lol.

Would it work if they had a ST based on 17 home games, instead of 19.

If they come up, their games could be on a match ticket basis, like a cup tie.

If they don’t come up, another two games can be designated as such.

That way, supporters who won’t tolerate watching them can buy their ST safe in the knowledge that they are not paying for the desecration of or stadium.

All ST holders can have the option of buying tickets for the designated game and the club makes up the revenue.

    Next problem?

I think I paid on the first day for ST’s last year and that was 20 April, guess it will be around that time this year

That ain’t what I said. Just that I personally don’t know anyone in that position.

ST sales have dropped but it would be guess work just how much of a drop is linked their death.

  9. If Celtic win the treble, my guess is quite a few supporters will invest in a season card on the back of that.

Others will buy one because they are in a better financial position than they were in previous years.

Indeed some will join in because they have come of age.

I think it is bad form some CQNers demanding that the club sets up a 2-tier price system for season card holders.

We should be welcoming new and returning season card holders, not branding them as not worthy.

  13. Karen’s mum passed away this afternoon after a brave fight against ovarian cancer. I have never seen a braver person or someone with such strong faith in Jesus. Mrs Winning Captains is heartbroken – we all are. Our youngest boy, Justin became a teenager today. The wee guy is devastated. Margaret, rest in peace.

  14. Just getting ready to take the good lady out for a wee anniversary meal 32 years married today, where does the time go? she still believes I Love Celtic more than her, can never convince her otherwise without laughing.

  22. I’m thinking.

Why don’t they just give up Ibrox, move to Hampden and start again as Queens Park Rangers?

They obviously cannot continue to stay at Ibrox. Their fixed costs eat up their main income source which is ST and match day income.

Even if crowds dropped to 20,000 that still let’s them out wage other clubs bar us.

Queens Park Rangers. It has a ring to it, a kinda deja vu moment. Too bloody sensible and anti hubris.

given the latest news regarding the huns surely we should be calling them

  24. We had two tier season books when the 1st rangers were in existence, if you had a season in the family section you paid less and didn’t get the 2 Glasgow derby games as the visiting hordes got an expanded visiting area.

Over time we started to get offered tickets in other areas at £40 pound a pop with no concessions

When the price was dropped by £100? My ticket didn’t drop , it went up !!!

it will be interesting to see what club will decide to do , reintroduce this pricing model or only give them a restricted allocation (my preference)

    Assuming they get promoted !!!
