  1. One for the data crunchers …

The class of 2013 — Super Six — How many have started a game?

Was tonight a record at 4 with poor SM injured?

If it was a record then a statement was being made.

    Barca had to win tonight

Last season by the 6 th game they had qualified as group winners

Calling Celtic “Matalan” now is it?

What would you rather we did went out and spent crazy money we don’t have?

Prudence has its price for sure but financial profligacy? We don’t need to look too far to see where that gets you.

I’d far rather we took a thumping from time to time than jeopardised our unbroken history and our children’s inheritance in the club we love.

FFS,here we go again.”Do you want us to end up like the huns”.

Naw,i want us to use the money we wasted in the summer to replace the two players who left. Not Pukki,Derk,Balde.

The huns had no money to start with. They were skint for 15-20 years.Get a grip.

  5. Strange, strange game probably adversely affected by the fact we were out and Barca wanted first place and had had a couple of poor results.

I’d like to think the bhoys would have a pride and determination to show up and compete. It honestly didn’t look like it!

It is obvious we were up against an excellent side but did set up well?

The selection bewildered me (not difficult TBH). Can anyone give me any idea what the plan was?

  6. If tonight’s result is accepted by the support it will become the norm, it was a joke from team selection to substitutes to formation nothing made sense. A bad night that could be the start of many a bad night in Europe.

  7. Billy Bhoy supports wee Oscar on

Well, that was dreadful. Really cringeworthy.

6 games, 5 defeats and only 3 points out of 18.

A 1-7 aggregate defeat to Barca.

It can’t get any worse than that, can it?

That surely must be the worst performance EVER by a scottish team?

    Surely?

Oh Wait! Reasons to be cheerful…….1,2,3

    1/ rangers 1 Ajax 8

    2/ rangers 1 Juve 8

    3/ rangers 2 Eintracht 13

And they did manage to secure 2 measly draws one season in the CL during their EBT years. God Bless Chuckles for “buying the history”!

Lots of angst tonight. But can anyone name the 11 players in our squad that could have won tonight?

    No, you can’t!

Can anyone name the Celtic player that would grace the Barca squad?

    No, you can’t!

And finally, can you say whether the team that is 330 million Euros in debt won or lost tonight?

    Yes, of course you can!

TET, can you confirm if “Barca” is Catalan for “Sevco”?

  8. what happened to Celtic tonight could happen to any team playing Barca at Camp Nou…

looking forward to next year’s adventure in Europe..

  9. Just watched Celtic get a clip on 60 years of sports personality as we ruled Europe no one can take that away from us. Keep the faith HH

  10. Celtic will not splash the cash when needed in January.

Celtic will not get lucky in CL qualifiers next summer.

Celtic will romp SPFL next season.

Sevco mark 2 will romp the Championship next season.

Celtic will downsize, but not too much, still to be competitive with Sevco mark 2 following season.

And Dermot and Peter and Dave King and Sandy Easdale will live happily ever after,

    THE END

  11. Tony Donnelly, well said. Made me smile, which is saying something after tonight. Agree with what you say. And with Burnley 78 earlier. Got to keep a perspective. Tough one tonight, and very disappointed, but my son and me will be there on Sat. Keep the faith. H

  12. DeniaBhoy in awe of wee Oscar's Courage on

I thought being out of the CL after the Milan game had allowed NL to put out a team that knew how to pass and move in a forwar direction with Stokes and Commons being key to that . I said after the Motherwell game that I hoped Sammi’s time was up – thanks for some great memories big man but our team plays better without you.

The same can be said for the flying Dutch man – useless since he joined us and did not merit a place tonight. Pukki – Ditto.

In defence, Ambrose looks short of class when he plays against CL opposition. His attempts to play football out of tight situations is entertaining in the SPFL but a recipe for disaster against players who are quicker of foot and thought. He needs to be told to be harder in the tackle and faster with the pass if he is to improve and win his big money move.

  13. Billybhoy….

Ajax only won 1 0 at Ibrox mate….4 1 in Amsterdam..

I know ..coz I had £200 quid on them at Ibrox when the Orcs missed a sitter in the last minute.

  14. I’m hurting like most but we need to get real too. The gulf in class and how far we are on the journey has to be acknowledged, agreed ?

Of course we can criticise, as long as it’s constructive, that’s a good trait, as it will speed us on our journey.

  15. I’ve played to a decent standard.I have a couple of coaching badges.I watch a lot of football.I’m an old guy now with a sense of what is important and a lot of history behind me which allows me to stand back and take deep breaths.I’ve coached lads and kids to play and understand that the ball will always beat the man, even if that man is Usain Bolt.It has been a fair while since I’ve seen a centre half like VVD.He’s better than Rio Ferdinand was at the same age.

Pukki looks like a natural number 10–so does Stokes.

However it is how they are used which counts.

Pukki is a player.Sammi I think, has been told he can go.

    Joe Ledley is the same.

If Neil has the courage, there are younger players at the club who could do the job.

    Sky highlights have finished.

    Me go pint.

  16. This season’s CL campaign has been a par performance. We are a 4th pot team for a reason, and financially our team are miles behind most we compete against. Last season in the CL was a massive overachievement, one of the consequences of which was expectations for this season far higher than we had any right to expect.

I thought we would have got a EL place for finishing 3rd but Ajax were better than us in both games and deserved to finish above us (arguably they deserved 2nd in the group but as usual the Italian clubs get the dodgy refereeing decisions).

What Ajax have that we don’t is a footballing philosophy, a strategy that the club follows at every age group from kids to the first team. First and foremost they give youngsters a chance, youngsters who come through their own set up and a few from abroad who can fit into their philosophy. They play attacking, entertaining football and have players who are brave on the ball. Their manager (De Boer) is answerable to a Technical Director, an ex player (Overmars) not a bean counter who plays at being Director of Football. The Technical Director is responsible for football at all levels and ensuring the philosophy is followed throughout the club. The club is littered with ex players in positions of power.

We currently have a unique opportunity where we can totally revamp how the footballing side of our club is organised and run, a chance to set up a model where we produce our own young players playing entertaining, attacking and successful football whilst at the same time maintaining domestic dominance.

  17. Paul67 et al

The last three games against Barcelona have been won, or lost, by the odd goal. The most recent one with ten men. Our better, best even, results, have been when we have a line-up and a set-up designed to stop them scoring. Stop them scoring. Neil Lennon’s team was not designed, nor as the result shows, capable of doing that. Neil has to take the responsibility for being in charge when we have suffered some of our worst ever defeats in Europe, both this year. Now, Barcelona are a top class team, nobody would think otherwise, but not many were not surprised at the team that started against that team, a team with three of our better players on the bench.

  18. Bhoy did that hurt , just hate getting beat dosn’t matter

if its Morton or one of the best teams in Europe ,for what

it is worth my opinion only, I cannot fathom out why NL can

play Mathews tonight after being out for so long and Sammie

for me looked disinterested for 80 mins, but for me the biggest

dissapointment was the way we carelessly gave the ball away

and did not press and close down as a team, just saw NL give

his interview agree with most of it, but he says again that he

    knows the problems and he will sort it out, {I am Paraphrasing }

but he has said this in the past and I hope he does this time.

  19. deniabhoy in awe of wee oscar’s courage

I’d disagree entirely about Efe. No doubt he made errors tonight, but many of them were when he was attempting to play some. I wasn’t at the game and tv limits your view, but it seemed to be a lack of movement and therefore options that had our defenders being caught in possession. Auld Heidi mentioned our lack of athleticism and appetite ? That was apparent when any of our guys were on the ball and was forced to run with it. Defenders taking such risks are prone to getting caught ?

I did not say I agreed with your opinion, only that I recognised it as such.

You said it was a fact. I disagree.

I think it also simple and ignores many factors that put Celtic where we are and not all are financial.

If it were simple we would not be where we are – but that is only my opinion, not a fact.

I had £500 on it at 11/10 with Ladbrokes and remember that chance they had. Heart attack stuff!

  23. I still don’t why we were so off the mark tonight. For us to beat teams at this level every player must be at their best. If not, we will and did struggle. Surely there should be no need to motivate any player. You are playing in one of football’s top arenas, against a top class team in the CL and most important of all, in the hoops for Celtic.

Adam at left back after a lengthy absence was a strange one especially playing Barca!

Neil mentioning on TV 4 players who he gave pass marks to could come back to bite him. He could create divsions in the dressing room by such comments. Not what we need right now. These guys will know their performance was poor. Some things keep internal as you’re just giving ammunition to our many detractors.

Anyway, I’ll be there on Saturday backing and supporting whoever is selected.

  24. Hi I’ve only posted once before.,about how you became a Celtic fan. Well this week after I read Larss7en( hope that’s right) I felt I had to post. I was married for 21 and a half year( il tell you how many days) and then it was over. Devastation 3 years down the line and I’m still the same an absolute basket case whatever that means. It feels like a bereavement. Hard to say but god it’s sore. I’m the same with kids got a five year old. Lost a few so called friends because I talk about my ex so often(can’t get over it). I’m completely ripped apart and I know how you do stuff out of character. I’m 3 year on this trip and I don’t feel any better. Went to my daughters(5) nativity yesterday and was distraught. Drink has ruined my life as it has my parents and grandparents and my 2 bros and my sister. My other 2 sisters are both alcoholics as am I. My gran died with alcohol poisoning my mum died because of drink, my siblings cos drink and drugs and we battle every day. Just want to say that BRTH’S piece was insperational. But we fight just like celtic it wasn’t good enough tonight but sometimes is. When you look around and see stuff no matter or when you look around and see celtic stuff yes matter. Bhoys thank you for being there and special to BRTH and Larsso7en. Hail Hail ps this was posted under the influence
