Battle of the Ages ends with LLLLLiquidation Day!

407

I took and made a few calls after the BBC broke the news about Rangers liquidation.  So much to discuss, so many possibilities and so much uncertainty remains.  Rangers are gone and whatever you think or hear about a Newco, it will be a shadow of the club Rangers were in the early 80s, never mind today.  But still, we have plenty to focus on as we prepare for the enormous events that lie ahead.

I then took a call from my Dad who told me to forget about tomorrow. “This day is about history, about all the events over all the years”. How true.

My friends in Celtic, tonight raise a glass to Celtic fans past, who never lived to see how this Battle of the Ages ended, celebrate for each of them. Celebrate all of those league titles and cups you were denied which were ‘won’ illegally by Rangers over the last 14 years. Celebrate for every hard working man and woman in the country who pays their tax every month, no matter the hardship. This is a victory for all of us. LLLLLLLLLLLiquidation Day is here!

We’ll worry about how other clubs plan to get their hands on your money tomorrow.

So the big L day is upon us.

Must say I feel underwhelmed, I thought I would be shouting from the rooftops.

The real battle starts now I suppose, the SFA/SPL and their dodgy dealings to allow them back into the SPL.

Interestingly, when Rangers went into administration in Feb, I was told that one of the key players ‘was going to jail’.

I think that HMRC may feel the same way

  7. £2 Million profit a year with no European football?

Charles Green lists savings of £7m on salaries as an advantage of a “newco” exit from administration in a proposal to potential investors in Rangers.

While he has stressed a preference to win creditors’ agreement, he outlines a lesser requirement to keep star players as one positive aspect of a newco.

Green is leading the consortium that is due to take over the club on Thursday.

In the event of a company voluntary arrangement being rejected, Green’s group will progress with newco plans.

Rangers are likely to be precluded from European competition for three years if they are reformed as a new company.

The business model, which describes the non-agreement of a CVA as a “very unlikely event”, also anticipates pre-tax profits of £2m for each of the first three years of a newco.

You are of course right to highlight that we should focus on this moment and leave tomorrow until….well…tomorrow! However I have been wondering what we Celtic fans need to do to prepare for the New Era as it fast approaches. Not that I want to start up the ole CQN Songs Debate again but we need really need to know what this new football club will actually be called since we might meet them in one of the lower cup competitions. Unless…..

  11. Yes to Newco, enter at the bottom of the SFL.

They will eventually be back in the SPL but it will be more than 3Yrs before they rampage through Europe again.

  18. !2th June has always been a significant date for me.

It was at 3:06pm on June 12th 1988 that Ray Houghton put the ball in the England net.

I don’t know what time exactly the plug was pulled on the huns but I will never forget this day.

  28. Agree with Auld NL Heid. New Rangers will not have eveything in place in time for next season, unless the Scottish football authorities decide to slow eveerything down to let them. Then we would have FIFA problems.
