Battle of the Ages ends with LLLLLiquidation Day!

407

I took and made a few calls after the BBC broke the news about Rangers liquidation.  So much to discuss, so many possibilities and so much uncertainty remains.  Rangers are gone and whatever you think or hear about a Newco, it will be a shadow of the club Rangers were in the early 80s, never mind today.  But still, we have plenty to focus on as we prepare for the enormous events that lie ahead.

I then took a call from my Dad who told me to forget about tomorrow. “This day is about history, about all the events over all the years”. How true.

My friends in Celtic, tonight raise a glass to Celtic fans past, who never lived to see how this Battle of the Ages ended, celebrate for each of them. Celebrate all of those league titles and cups you were denied which were ‘won’ illegally by Rangers over the last 14 years. Celebrate for every hard working man and woman in the country who pays their tax every month, no matter the hardship. This is a victory for all of us. LLLLLLLLLLLiquidation Day is here!

We’ll worry about how other clubs plan to get their hands on your money tomorrow.

Regarding the changing of the rules to sharing gate monies.

    Can they really do this?

Does this not go against working practises.

What a glorious day and hearty congratulations to Paul67, RTC and others for getting the truth out there.

I’m on holiday at the moment in the South of France so can really enjoy the bottle of fizz I have chilling in the fridge. Before I do I will go for run that takes me past the villa Minty owns down here. I pass it towards the end of my run when I’m usually flagging. Not tonight. I will bound past it like a spring lamb wearing the biggest grin on the Cote d’ Azure.

Today is a victory for Celtic Football Club, Celtic Supporters and indeed, Scottish football in general. It is also a victory for good over evil and right over wrong.

    Today the good guys won.

    Enjoy your evening all.

  3. Motherwell Supporters Trust have already stated no to Newclub.

Motherwell have become the first club to react to the news that Rangers will be liquidated after failing to agree a CVA out of administration.

The Lanarkshire club said it would canvass supporters and stakeholders in the club before coming to a decision on how to treat a ‘newco’ Rangers and its attempts to enter the SPL.

A spokesman for the board at Motherwell FC said: “The Board is very aware of implications of all scenarios and will consider them in detail when all the information we need is at our disposal.

“We regard the sustainability of the club and the integrity of the sport as inter-linked. We have a duty to act in the interests of our club and we hope these can be reconciled with the interests of the game.

“It really is more important than ever that all Motherwell fans continue their fantastic support of our club.”

Supporters of a number of SPL teams have lobbied their clubs to state their intentions when it comes to a vote on ‘newco’ Rangers. A vote of eight to four by the SPL members is required to approve immediate entry to the country’s top league.

  4. How can a company that no longer exists have a vote in an organisation they used to be a member of?

I think a lawyer is gonna get some money out of that this

  5. The SPL have told BBC Scotland’s ace reporter Alasdair Lamont that Rangers will be in the SPL fixture list when it is issued on Monday and Rangers will have a vote when the SPL clubs decide on a newco Rangers being admitted to Scotland’s top league.

rangers get to decide if they stay in the SPL. Only in Scotland…

When Newco Huns get the knock back from SPL .. It is being assumed they will enter 3rd Division….

Are there other teams who have a much more credible history who may also have a case to be considered?

How can they vote when they don’t have a valid licence as an SPL club, they are dead?

  17. If I’m honest I always harboured doubts that Rangers would be liquidated but now that its happened my emotions are a little muddled.

I’m moved by the posters who’ve remembered their deceased fathers and relatives and I’m also at one with those who highlighted the new direction in this affair where the criminality will be investigated and those responsible pursued and held to account.

Now that I’ve mellowed (in years) I seek no vengeance, I’ll just raise my glass to Celtic supporters, past and present, and wish that justice will be done.

Added to the fact that tickets for Celtic Park are much more expensive than tickets for most other clubs we will be doubly punished.

A quick analysis of last season’s attendances showed that we had an overall average home attendance of 50,904 but an average overall attendance (inc away games) dropped to 32,494.

    Total home attendances = 967,176

    Total away attendances = 267,631

    Assume each ticket costs £25

    Under current arrangements £25 x 967,176 = £24.2m

Under proposals where we might have to split money we will get £12.1m from home games plus £3.35m from away games so a shortfall of £8.75m per year.

WEATHERSEAL TRANSFER WINDOW OPENS AS SCOTTISH PREMIER LEAGUE SECURES FIRST MAJOR SUMMER SIGNING!

Weatherseal Home Improvements Ltd (Weatherseal) and the Scottish Premier League (SPL) today announce an exclusive partnership which sees Weatherseal become the league’s “official home improvement partner”.

Launched on the first day of business after the transfer window opened on Saturday, Weatherseal is the SPL’s first big signing of the summer after a significant undisclosed six figure deal was unanimously rubber stamped by the twelve SPL clubs.

The SPL’s new partner aims to engage with clubs, players, supporters and the media alike to support and promote Scottish football in a highly proactive fashion.

Weatherseal is owned by none other than Brian “Quantum” Kennedy is it not?

What I’m excitedly anticipating is Lawwell and co revealing their hand. I think they have played a blinder so far allowing the Huns to hang themselves when it must have been so tempting to lend a hand to accelerate their demise.

I don’t think for one minute they have been idle. Lawwell is many things .. Stupid isn’t one of them.

I assume that there will still be a legal challenge from Dave King to the transfer of share. If so, it begs the question who will be at the SPL meeting on Monday.

If King is serious, he will be seeking an interdict/injunction against any share transfer on the basis that the shares were promised to him by Craig Whyte. That in turn will start a legal argument which could go on for the whole of next season.

    And beyond…………

  28. Paul, as you may remember I’ve been ‘copying’ and saving all your posts on this theme since Monday 13th. Feb. What a day for you to break the 70,000 word barrier!
