It’s the battle of the Lennons at Celtic Park tomorrow with Danny enjoying the best run of form in his managerial career. St Mirren are on 20 points, joint with St Johnstone, who they beat in Perth last month, and have already taken a point from Ibrox this season. They are a technically sound team who will be more difficult to create chances against than Dunfermline were on Wednesday. They can also play a bit.
Team formation will be enormously important for Neil Lennon. This is the type of fixture he would previously select a 4-4-2, with two wingers, giving width to the game, but leaving a central two outnumbered by opponents who inevitably pack the middle of the field. If Celtic persist with this strategy they’ll need to tighten up in the middle.
There is an interesting subplot to this weekend’s games. Earlier this month there was a daunting 12 points between Celtic and Rangers. A win for Celtic tomorrow would see that gap shrink to 4 points, with Rangers playing their game in hand away to Kilmarnock at lunchtime on Sunday. As well as playing for three points tomorrow, Celtic have the opportunity to put pressure on Rangers.

5-0 would be lovely but St Mirren do not look like goal fodder. I was quite impressed by how they tried to play football.
If you watch the equaliser v Rangers it started with an exquisite inside of the boot pass from their keeeper under real pressure and the passing from there got even better.
They have a footballing philosophy to be respected
Joe Led Centre Mid, Wrap this game right up, Celtic TV commentary on Wed saying what an advantage to have a midfielder at left back, I can’t agree with that if you see the goal and their second half game plan.
Joe in the centre where he is best.
Another must win game…
Just 25 more hours..
C^mon you Bhoys in Green..

Napoli played with great pace and power, Cavani in particular.
Jeff Stelling of Sky wondered if he would make it to the “best Lge in the world” EPL. The usual English arrogance.

As was pointed out in the Guardian – since he played in World Cup semi-final he may just make it in England.
Thoughts with Charlie Mulgrew and his family, as his father has passed away.

I think he tells lies about their EPL thing because he’s paid to. After all, it’s nothing more and nothing less than the Sky Premier League.
Commons out with the thigh injury that forced him off in midweek and Mulgrew is absent because of a family bereavement.
No doubt one of the usual suspects will claim Commons hasn’t recovered from the beating he sustained from Neil Lennon in the dressing room though…

Tis true, there are one or two SP Hell teams trying to play a wee bit more football. Is it co-incidence that those sticking to the Up N Under, clug n clatter, 11 men behind the baw style are all from the same school of you know what thinking….. Me thinks not.
Right def off out, got some cages to rattle.

Such arrogance eh? Fancy that a player with such experience could possibly manage to play in such a prestigious league as the EPL.
Personally I don’t think he could hack it with the likes of Stoke, Blackburn etc.
EPLismainlypashCSC
I wonder if some smart cookie at Sky might not start telling the commentators to start questioning the EPL’s quality based on CL results and the number of also rans in the league.
Over time they wear it down and then go back to the EPL and say, you’re getting half what we paid last time. Your football is gash.’
Oh yes, i forgot, the advertising industry feeds off the great EPL myth too.
Back to the drawing board…………………

Kenny sumbdy.
Way too many funny replies to that post.
I was in the works canteen there. I winked at my wife who was sitting at another table with her pals, then this weird lookin’ guy at the next table to her – wearing one of those Celtic scarfs that your granda and his mates used to wear in the 60s – stood, up, came walking over, sat down beside me and stated talking about Erasure. Strange.
Just watched SSN where they showed Hibs new manager Pat Fenlon being intoduced to the media by Rod Petrie.
Fenlon expressing his delight at being here
Petrie then said to the press “any questions ”
No questions were asked by the assembled media——Stunned Silence
Perhaps they were stunned that we have another Irish Tim manager in Scotland
Just seen the front page of the Daily Record there:
DISPICABLE
Rangers have no intention of paying £50m tax bill that could help equip our war heroes
I couldn’t believe it so I had to look again, and I realised it said
DISPICABLE
Sheriff’s blast as he jails conman who ripped off our war heroes
So what’s wrong with 5-3-2 nowadays
Defensively
The ideal system when if we have two overlapping full backs and we are playing at home vs teams who play 1 man up front
Also 5-3-2 lets us have 2 center halves and a sweeper (although with our current crop of centre halves we might need two sweepers!)
It probably doesn’t suit when we have wingers like James Forrest – who is excellent attacking and not so good defensively, its hard to find a place for him unless its one of the three midfielders, meaning that the other two midfielders should probably be a bit defensively minded
5-3-2 If its good enough for martin o neill then its good enough for me

Tam, Martin bought players to play that system, Neil is buying players to play a different system, a more modern system if you like, strong athletic players are coming in now plus the usual two or three skillful short arses, times have changed can’t see us as a team going back to that system..
Hail Hail

Stelling works for Sky, Sky’s “jewel” is the EPL, hence “the EPL is the best league in the world”.
I like Jeff Stelling, well more than I did RIcahrd Keys, but he is little more than a shill for Murdoch’s sales operation.
As for Butcher being treated different than Lenny – did Terry shake hands with anyone before the hearing?
Fritzsong @ 14.10
I actually like Jeff Stelling but it’s the mindset that irritates.
