BAYERN DUO QUIT

ARTURO VIDAL became the second Bayern Munich star to quit international football last night.

The 30-year-old brought down the curtain after Chile missed out on qualifying for the 2018 World Cup.

Arjen Robben, of Celtic’s Champions League rivals, also called time on his career with Holland following their failure to reach Russia.

The 33-year-old winger scored both his nation’s goal in their 2-0 win over Sweden, but they went out to Mikael Lustig and Co on goal difference.

Vidal said his decision comes with his “soul crushed” after he missed out on Tuesday through suspension.

The reigning South American champions lost 3-0 to Brazil to end their hopes of mixing with the elite next summer.

Vidal said: “Thank you, lads, for everything, for all these years together. For teaching me and for showing a country that with effort and work anything is possible in life.”

The Chileans finished level on points with Peru, who earned a two-legged play-off against New Zealand, but went out on goal difference.

Chile’s Argentinian manager Juan Antonio Pizzi also announced his retirement following the failure.
