Bayern Munich sit six points clear at the top of the Bundesliga having lost only one game from 19 this season (at Mainz). As a guide, they sit 22 points head of Borussia Dortmund.
They are in the Champions League playoffs because of a bizarre result in Rotterdam. They had 80% possession against Feyenoord and missed all of their 30 shots on goal. Feyenoord scored with each of their three attempts.
The German side are smarting after they failed to win 12 domestic titles in a row last term. They are one of the strongest clubs in world football and will inevitably progress beyond Celtic.
None of that matters. Celtic still have lots to gain and learn from this tie. There will hopefully be challenges later this year in the Champions League against teams of this calibre, let’s arrive at them with a honed plan. We play Bayern free from the stress of expectation. Let’s enjoy the occasion.

Defo .. Big Jimmy would be the first to wind anybody up
In his own words .. a rubbish front man for Bad Manners :-) 🍀🍀
next shipwrecks meet up I may drag my ass up from ayrshire….lower the average age ;)
and defo duck when I meet TLT (apols)
Clunks ..
It’s just a few hours of talking shoite about Celtic and then the old cnuts talk about music :-) it might not sound great but it’s actually quite enjoyable for us youngsters (54) … been a long time since I have been the youngster in the company :-)
always thought there should be an official (non fecking golf shit) glasgow / edinburgh / ayrshire/ lanarkshire / larkhall meet up of CQN’ers
Where names could be put to faces
A place where hangovers and memories are created
notice when people fall out here, non of you guys are at the forefront
Would defo help to put names to faces and make CQN a community as opposed to…..what it can be (yes I am the worst at that)
Food for thought tho…
Clunks …
100% … when you meet any CQNer face to face it’s much better than an internet exchange :-)
The internet is shoite :-)
lets make that happen???
Clunks .. I think it’s usually an open invitation
I an a light weight I usually appear for a few pints then disappear… but putting faces to blog names is pretty good … then at least you know the idiot that’s posting rubbish :-)
Good morning all from a 1 degree Garngad…oooh chilly.
Glad all the shipwrecks had a ball.
Couldn’t make it as I seem to be going from 1 illness to another, latest dizziness and being sick.
Anyway I will make it back 1 day.
Right let’s get a win mañana and get back on track.

…………
Get well soon Big Yin. You were certainly missed on Friday.
I left around 5.30pm, I just canny drink the way I used to.
Having said that, I lasted almost 6 Hours before I became a wee bit knackered.
HH Mate.
Not too sure what the rush is to dish out money for a striker, who is probably no better than what we have.Once this window closes,I cannot for the life of me not see Jota and Kuhn on either wing, and Idah,Maeda as the strikers.Nothing jumping out better than what we have at the moment.Better,IMHO,to either get GT onboard as backup to KT,or if he is set on leaving, recruit now.Penrice from Hearts looks an ideal replacement.A maybe.Giving GT a better wage probably the ideal solution.Spend money, but not on vanity projects.Kvistgaarten,is he really an upgrade on what we have?.Will cost around £13 million to find out.
If we must get someone in,we have another window.Get solid in the areas we are short in now.
TB
Listening to BR he wants to strenthen the squad by the end of this window,he would not be drawn on which positions though, with the press assuming it will be another striker and left back, Johnny Kenny is back after having a good season with Shamrock Rovers and scoring fairly regularly in the 3rd tier of European football, not seen much of the lad other than against Chelsea in the ECL,could have scored a couple against them, what will Cummings do sign a contract and go on loan or stay and leave at seasons end, I think what we really lack is a fast defensive minded midfielder, a disruptor especially in European games, just my opinion. It’s like waiting for Christmas day.
TURKEYBHOY @ 10:21 AM,
Well it looks like a numbers game now.
As Wednesday shows we lack both quality and back up if any of our first eleven can’t play.
The point is though, that Celtic can’t afford to have 24 players on top wages, we’ll need to use experienced professionals and development players to bridge the gap.
McCowan was a great signing in that regard.
Yet three quality additions are necessary.
We’ve been linked to Kvistgaarten for sometime and I’ve not been in the go get him camp before this season.
He now seems stronger, 10 goals in 15 games for Brøndby IF, in a competitive league.
He’s 22 y.o. so fits the profile £10 mn, with the trophy haul and European experience Celtic can give him, that price goes one way.
Would like to see Kenny and Murray getting game time, they are more than capable at SPL level.
Penrice may be a good call, have seen a few Hearts games this season, especially in Europe – he’s definitely one of their best.
However, they are trying to build a team, so he won’t be a cheap option.
Hail Hail
Looking back on previous q uestions asked on CQN….here’s one.
Name the ex Celt.
Scored in
EpL
English C’ship
English Div One
English Div Two
English Conference
English Conference South
English fa cup
ENGLISH LEAGUE CUP
SpL
Scottish FA cup
Scottish league cup
Champions league
Europa League.
6 players out and 2 in so far in this window with Brendan still wanting a few and confirming KT won’t arrive this month.
It sure will be a busy couple of days and you’d imagine the striker would’ve been top priority with the advanced knowledge of Kyogo wanting to leave.
Exclusive we have a new #7

A minority of away fans are damaging our reputation in Europe aren’t in Britain.
Not only that and not only may this have an impact financially on the club, but further they risk damaging the prospects of the team on the pitch as away games are difficult enough without an absence of support
How many times do they have to be told? How many times do they have to be warned- by our own club and by other Celtic fans?
The bringing of pyros into away grounds is a premeditated decision and in full knowledge of the likely consequences.
I don’t think it is beyond the realms to specifically identify individuals particularly with CCTV et cetera and the fact that the away tickets are heavily regulated.
These guys need banned- both from anway games and from Celtic Park.
Typo-
A minority of away fans are damaging our reputation in Europe AND in Britain.
Looking at all the available info on Strelic. He has a good pedigree .5 goals in Europe,3 in CL.Seasoned Slovakian International, and scoring well for Slovan.10 in 18.Most pricing him around £5 million,Slogan saying £7,,probably have to go that.
Dessybhoy,
Brownhill from Burnley would be a great shout for that position.A real workhorse.Free agent in Summer.
January scorecard :-
02/01 Rangers 3 Celtic 0
05/01 Celtic 3 St Mirren 0
08/01 Celtic 2 Dundee United 0
11/01 Ross County 1 Celtic 4
14/01 Dundee 3 Celtic 3
18/01 Celtic 2 Kilmarnock 1
22/01 Celtic 1 Young Boys 0
25/01 Celtic 0 Storm Eowyn 1
29/01 Aston Villa 4 Celtic 2

Kvistgaarden probably outwith the price range now ..pity as I like his attributes…
We are now looking at second and third choices
Young players who are doing well the value will only go up !!!
As a club have we totally realised that obvious point it’s like we put off hoping valuations might just might go down…jeezo I think our first bid for kvistgaarden was around 4 million a year ago!!!!
Gary Hooper?
MAJESTIC HARTSON
Spot on.
Rasmus Hjöland
January 22 – €1.8m
August 22 – €17m
July 23 – €70m
Despite Denmark being ranked lower than Scotland in UEFA coefficients .. their players are more attractive to suitors.
Danish clubs know this.
We want this player? Brondby want serious value.
For me, this one is a bust.
Walk away. Go to next guy on the list.
CHAIRBHOY @ 10.38
There’s likely to be ten full international players lined up for Celtic at Fir Park tomorrow . How many can we sustain that fall into the high wage bracket? I think with a £100M sitting in the bank shortly, the wage structure can at least be tweaked.
The plan was definitely never to sell your main striker in the secondary window,
without a lined up replacement, and neither was it the plan to have one LB running out of contract, without any cover. That said I’m sure Arsenal are key to when KT comes to Parkhead because of their own options at LB, and it might go to the wire, despite their statement.
Striker wise, it’s all about negotiating the price of the target between now and the deadline.
HH
Very rarely see English football these days but just seen the last ten minutes of Forest v Brighton.
Defending looks like an optional extra for Brighton, really poor.
Kelechi Iheanacho is 1.85Metres
I will bang on about it again.
Having made vast revenues on the champions league games already, with various spreadsheets produced showing 46m euros in, would it have killed the plc to have rewarded the young supporters by making the tickets cheap and affordable such as £9 like liverpool do ?
School kids priced at £32it once again outrageous greed on hard pressed families.
BOURNESOUPRECIPE @ 12:53 PM,
Yes, it was great to get a lot of our key players signed up to better, longer contracts.*
Of course the club must ensure that over that five year contract the salary is funded by UEFA money, however, the “rainy day”, money could certainly tide us over if we had an off season, though that is anathema to the Board.
The elephant in the room was the two UCL games late in January and the play-off draw.
My feelings if we didn’t do the job v Young Boys, we would have kept Kyogo for Villa.
Also if we had PSV say, rather than Bayern, the amount of wffort and how much we’d be willing to pay to prise KT away would have been very different.
So in a ways it’s put less pressure on the Executive and maybe put us on a better bargaining position as far as KT, the Striker etc is considered.
I’ve certainly not given up on KT or staying up all night to get the promised Kvistgaarten.
*My thoughts were we did not want to make players too well compensated at Celtic, to ensure when a bid came in, they were more likely to move on.
Matt on for Brighton…
Hail Hail

Kelechi Iheanacho is on the bench right now and has only played 9 games since joining Seville in the summer. Reports of a loan move for the striker who worked under Brendan at Leicester.
Must agree with a few of the other posters . I absolutely hate what some of our fans are doing to the reputation of our club . We are viewed as scum all over Britain . When it came time for the villa game I as a lot others knew what was going to happen , a few weeks previous Birmingham held a rally for the anniversary of the bombings , the IRA were roundly blamed for what went on . It was a red rag to a bull
Going down there with our songbook and the feeling towards us among the natives .
I expect to be rounded on for this post ,but I just hate supplying our detractors with the ammunition we gave them on Wednesday , I myself is of Irish descent both side of my families , I have followed the bhoys over 66 years and yes I have sung the rebs often ,it just seems it has turned more toxic now , michael fagan banner at the game what in the name of god had that to do with our football club . Tin hat on .
JIMTIM,
I have followed Celtic for as long as yourself. I couldn’t agree more with your post.

just cause i am here now, let me have a ping at your tin hat.
i care not a jot that right wing or just plain little englander football supporters dont like celtic supporters politics. When the outraged are Simon Jordan and GB News, i think so feckin what.
I dont believe it is any more toxic now that it had been for 136 years from our founding till today.
Indeed, just being Irish or Scots Irish is enough for the hater to hate.
The hysterical hyperbole that all our support must conform to how others want them to behave is utter non-sensical.
Frem the earliest days we played, in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Newcastle, Sheffield, Leeds and many other places. We played during civil unrest , world wars, revolution, civil wars, internment, bombing campaings, irish people being rounded up and fitted up, punishment beatings and soldiers being slaughtered. We played when the orange marches were 100,000 strong, and we played when members of the royal family were being killed.
I was in Nottingham, when the national front mob attacked the celtic supporters in the square.
An uncle told me of a battle at the leeds semin final , all forgotten about now.
On reading the reports that the birmingham locals would be upset with celtic supporters, I bet those of caribeen, african, asian and irish descent couldnt care less.
Think of peaky blinders for the true make up of birminghams population.
And to another point. Would advisors to Prince William not have thought, you know sir, these people dont like what the royal family is, or indeed that you are a future king, they will sing horrible insults at you, are you sure you want to go ?
Like i say, i couldnt give a rats ass what little englanders think of us.
Dont get me started on the descends of irish stock now making up the backbone of england team.
If Kelechi is a stop gap AND can stay fit?
Take him for half a season.
When fit he’s a great player.
Not the most instinctive finisher but link up and leading the line work is very good.
