Thought occurred to me that Bayern might want our manager after that performance last night. Hope I’m utterly wrong. Long may he stay at Celtic Park.

As we consider last night, we would do well to remember and focus on the following
– Bayern München failed to beat Celtic at home
– Had we held on for another few seconds, it would ‘only’ have guaranteed extra time with the undoubted further pressure from München
– This was (imho) our best performance in any match for a decade
– We are still on course for a treble
– At the end of the day, it still is only a football match. The world keeps turning with all the various more serious problems faced by very many people
– It’s a Grand Old Team

A very good performance last night.Well done to the team….( Players and fans).

” You have to let them know you are there”
is the old adage when playing a team who are at a much higher level.
In reality it means , kick, foul, disrupt, play on the edge of illegality, take one for the team, play ugly.
On top of that , the minnows will time waste from the outset, see how far they can push the referees patience, and again if necessary, take another one for the team.
In both games we played football, we worked hard and never resorted to the dark arts.
Last week at HQ we had a referee who recently averaged about 5-6 yellows oer game and 1 red every 1.7 games ( can’t find the stats so I’m going from memory)
No bookings for either team.
If teams are charged by UEFA when they receive excessive yellow cards, we should be given an award for exemplary conduct.
( perhaps we get a permission slip for pyro at our next game) 😀
I should add that it was NOT only the Hun fans who lost money to to the Bookies last night….So did I !
LOL
But MY Bets dont matter, especially after a GREAT Celtic performance v Bayern. I am far from being GUTTED…….I am very proud of Celtic last night and I look forward ( Hopefully ?) to winning yet another TREBLE this season.
Like some others on here, I was a bit fearsome of Extra Time last night, due to our bench NOT being strong enough ( YANG and IDAH did little or nothing when they came on ) as Bayern MAY have over powered us in Extra Time (as they had a STRONG Bench), and I certainly did NOT wish to see Celtic possibly losing out in a ” Penalty shoot out ?”.
When I saw KUHN going off….I was hoping that LUKE MCCOWAN would have been sent on rather than YANG.
I have seen nothing from YANG so far to have me believe that he is a good signing ?
Overall, a MAGNIFICENT Performance from Celtic over the Two Legs, well done to the Bhoys and Brendan and the Staff.

Thank you sincerely HJ.
Your post had me laughing out loud.
After 23 seconds of entry-level thinking (and with absolutely no intel whatsoever) my guess as follows.
How much money raised? Zilch
Why now?
Just the latest in a VERY long line of debt for equity scrambles … to meet FSR.

Frustrating to see Feyenoord Benfica and Brugge all £20m richer today and another few co eff points better. All guaranteed CL next year if they do get through their domestic leagues.
##########
There are no club coefficient points available for the play-offs, although the results do add to the country coefficients. Also, I think the progression bonus for qualification to the last 16 is €11M.
As everyone (except Extraordinary Jofus) has stated, that was the most mature and controlled performance in many years. As long as the suits don’t top up their cash pile during the summer, we could go far next year…
Burnley78 on
It feels doubly frustrating this morning as it really did feel this group of players was really aligned with the manager and the potential.
In the cold light of day despite a favourable draw we won 3 lost 3 and drew 4. It felt better than that.
We are out and Brugge, Benfica and a very poor Feyenoord are through to last 16. Feyenoord even sold their best player in the window and sacked their manager yet still got through.
Scotlands coefficient is so bad that we will now have the risk and jeopardy of qualifying every season for the foreseeable future. Until this season only rangers kept us in decent shape. The weakness of Hearts St Mirren Kilmarnock and the like dilutes us badly. Greece Turkey Czech Denmark Austria Belgium Norway and probably Russia when back will soon leave us in the rear view mirror based on current trends.
Red Star, Shakhtar, Olympiakos, Copenhagen, Bodo (mid season) Zagreb and others have all been over the course and distance of qualifying and if they do win their domestic leagues ( not a certainty in some cases ) will all be seeded above us for qualifier play off.
It’s a massive risk but I hope we do all in our power to keep this aging team (our oldest since 2007/8) for a real go at qualifying in August. I hope we sign Schlupp and obviously KT. We will have little time to gel many new guys for the play off but keeping this lot can be a priority. After that perhaps we can build on what we have if we do qualify again.
I really hope we can do this.
For now these are still great Celtic times. We have 3 big games prior to 2 massive ones in early mid March. After these we could have another incredible treble in sight.

Well done to the manager and the team on an outstanding European performance. We did not deserve the end result but that’s football as they say.
The manager must now be 100% backed in the transfer market.
Failure to do this will send us in the wrong direction and risk his departure and no more nights like last night for decades.

Apologies it was Euros and not £
10 for performance
3 for media
4 for gate money and hospitality for next game
So only approx 17 M euro not £20m. You are correct.
First time in my life with Celtic where I have not let the result overshadow the performance, it was sensational.
That team and the style of play MUST get rid of any doubters surely. We truly have made amazing progress.
Very happy we bunny

One watch out is that this was a really aging team.
The second oldest since WGS time.
We need to ensure we introduce younger where we have been successful in the past.
Qualifying first. It would be suicide not to ensure that. Maintaining current team is critical for this.
Then backing the right extra couple on top of KT that we may need.

Burnely78 – during some of the highlights from the other games, I noticed that in a couple of the games 18 and 19 year olds were amongst the goals (Brugge and Monaco I think).
Would be brilliant to see one of our Academy kids getting the breakthrough but the EPL hoover doesn’t allow us to hang on to the best kids and give them a chance. Can you imagine the likes of a young Nicholas coming through the ranks now? He showed he could play in the CL as a youngster but he’d have been off to England before he was 18 if playing today.
