Irish Premier Sports didn’t dismiss the clear error by the referee. They said even if the referee didn’t deem it a foul on Maeda he has a clear head knock and he has to stop the game.

I would agree had Maeda stayed down but he got up.
Too honest.
Brendan making the point that the squad needs improved. I thought Kuhn going off was a major factor in us dropping deeper.
Shouldn’t need to stay down, it was a foul and Maeda was trying to get back to help his team mates
Well Done Brendan and all of his backroom staff.
But most of all well done to our pool of players who gave everything and left nothing on the field. Unfortunately, we didn’t convert our chances in the first half, but we should be proud of the effort put in. We also know that we can now play and compete at this level.

I think it’s a case of the refs wanting the ‘big; names to go through against a ‘smaller’ team rather than against Celtic specifically . Or at least they are sub consciously scared of making decisions which might disadvantage the ‘big’ team .
Its a long way from 7-1 in Dortmund.
This campaign has been a learning curve. Fair play to Brendan. He was man enough to change tactics to suit the games and we have had an amazing run.
Weird, but the only thing the huns have to celebrate this season, is Celtic drawing away against one of the top 5 teams in the world.
If Atletico had lost that goal – what would their collective reaction towards the ref regarding the foul in the build up been?
Enough certainly to send the ref’s hand up to his ear.
Proud to be a Celt as always but especially tonight. Back the manager and we could just be on the cusp of something really special.

I’ve never seen a ref stop a game for a head knock when the player is on his feet.
I feel like I’m nitpicking but a savvy / cynical hard nosed European player would have stayed down and forced the refs hand. Any number of those BM players would have done it. Every one of Real Madrid’s would have done and Atletico Madrid’s whole team would have surrounded the ref.
It says volumes about DM’s honesty as a player and a man ( which I totally respect ) that he didn’t stay down but on this occasion it didn’t help us.

It is why Athletico do win a lot in Europe. We don’t.
No issues with the ref from me. It was a long way from the ball and from him at the time. It’s football and these coming togethers happen. I did think the linesmen were poor all night. There were 3 off-sides in our favour that weren’t called.
Let’s enjoy the rest of the season.

I often think after these games that thats what big teams can do to you, but i think tonight we were just unlucky.
Brendan Rodgers looked as gutted as ive seen him.
I liked how he talked about giving a performance for Scottish football too.

Zagreb meant we had a as tough a tie as we could have had.
Brugge getting a tie v Lille and a possible qtr final was there for us.
Even another go at Athletico had we done it tonight.
Love the new format. Credit to Brendan and the team. I hope we can keep the team together but fear not. I would love us to qualify for next season but so would fans of Olympiakos or Copenhagen or Red Star or Shaktar or Zagreb or Bodo. All possible opponents.
In interview a winded Brendan again called for backing to add quality to the squad, to let him ‘go again’.
As one pundit quipped in-match, would keeping Kyogo have made the difference tonite ?

He had the backing this window and saw how hard it is. I really hope we don’t lose AJ and DM this window but would not count on it.
Any other new guys really won’t be integrated in time for play off.
Best I reckon is we keep this lot together until end of August and ensure we give it our best shot at qualifying first.
Assuming we win the league of course.

We finished above Brugge in the table. They got an easier draw. Thems the breaks.
We competed with a top five /six European team over two legs , what’s not to like.

If you let it be known, to a team of CL sharks, that you are too precious to play a single long ball to get you up the pitch, then that is just naive and dumb.
Even more naive and dumb if you have a player with unplayable pace as your best striker who is an all round Tazmanian devil, and you still don’t play a single ball for Maeda to show you what he can do?
Celtic are now the club of the precious, pretentious, snobby, snooty, erses.
Imagine the daft Huns being in Europe for longer than the clever Tims.

It was great seeing Hatate skinning one ir two if them in the middle of the park but he tried to too much/they had too many men around him and BM would get it back.

I’m surprised to not be disappointed personally at all, the level of progress is stark and palpable.
I’m only upset for Brendan and the team – even a 1-0 with eventual knock out after 120 mins or pens would have seemed fairer, considering the effort and maturity on display.

While spending a decent amount of money on player doesn’t guarantee success it must surely point you in the right direction, if you have the right manager.
Im not expecting us to break the record every season but, surely there’s a speculate to accumulate scenario here thats paid off.
