BBC editorial standards on Celtic complaint

481

I consume tons of BBC material, TV, radio, Sounds and online.  It is the most value for money media out there (apart from CQN).  It has is critics, those who would do away with it and leave the road open for the global conglomerates – that is never how they see it, of course, but I would campaign for its continued independence.

When Celtic marked the death of Shane Warne, a long time Ange Postecoglou fan, their choice of photo was attacked by a BBC correspondent on Twitter.  Unfairly so, judged the BBC Editorial Standards Board, who issued a takedown notice.  The correspondent did as he was told, albeit without the grace to apologise.

For a long time Celtic have been a cheap hit.  Politicians and journalists have felt free to work in the darkness of innuendo, an indication of the drop in standards across public life in general.  Some standards are worth maintaining.  We can only hope lessons will be learned.

OK then — what are your thoughts?

Easy to criticise the musings of others — so what are your ideas?

I can help with a few options …

60K — same capacity / better facilities / more corporate / poss non matchday stuff.

67,525 — bigger capacity with a nice number to remind us of who we are / all the stuff as above.

67,525 plus an attic — more seats again but with room for growth / make the ground tourist friendly.

    Consequently what are your thoughts?#

With your property / surveying experience what would you suggest?

And if not now then when and with what changes?

the FMcC P/head that we have at the moment is based on a design that is over 30 years old and the physicals themselves are nearly 30 years old — we need to plan ahead.

  2. Given the tremendous financial strength of the Club and given the volatility of the game now. I’d think it reasonable to sit tight……investment in the team is priority, further development and success for Big AP should be at the forefront of supporters minds……….( the split level car -park’ n ‘ Spa can be…. errrmm…..” parked” for the time-being, while The Edmiston Shit- Show marches towards a familiar conclusion).

    We’ll wait and see.

    That way failure comes.

We need to get our erse into gear regarding building for the future.

If we don’t then we will end up like the old board.

WE need to shorten the critical path — start the planning now.

Get some options / drawings out for review.

  4. Good morning from a dry but chilly North Staffs.

Just back from a Confirmation Mass – only 3 candidates – changed times indeed.

Was in the main stand 3 years ago – well overdue a refurb to the facilities at the very least.

Please don’t take this as a criticism, but while most supporters will just agree that the South Stand needs to be rebuilt, or a new mini-stadium constructed for the B and Ladies teams, you take it to extremes and provide a complete specification, down to the number of rows in each new tier and even calculating the increased capacity down to the last seat.

I find that very funny and not in a nasty way, although if Celtic do get round to rebuilding the stand, I reckon you’ll be on here slaughtering the board if it’s not to your exact specification.

  6. Well done KT attracting interest from the likes of Real Madrid.

Wether he stays at Arsenal or not what an achievment

(I need to paint the front of our house at some point, it takes the full blast of coastal salt-water laden winds….I could do it this year or next…………….I know it’ll get done, I know who will do it and roughly what it will cost. I’ve little need to discuss. I “plans” with the missus…….or the dugs, at least not If I don’t want to complicate matters.)

  11. ” In a surprising move that is sure to rock wurld football, Celtic have today announced the imminent takeover of US outfit LA Galaxy……

…..the new Club name will reflect some of the Parkhead Club’s history and be known as

    LA Maccaroon Bar…………………”

  12. Gerry McNee: I love him, as my photo appears in his book :)))

Main Stand: Last year’s prices were £644 gulp! Last year was my first as a Senior Citizen, so I “dropped” to £424

Facilities are ridiculous for that amount of money. Where I sit I can’t see either of the big screens at each end of the ground, we’re stuck with 42″ TVs above us, which you need binoculars to view. Asked about upgrading them to much larger sizes to be told that due to them having to be watertight they couldn’t do it, of course, I asked are the ones already there were not watertight, to which I received no reply. Catering is 2 outlets, with very limited choice, though they are staffed really well. Love where I sit, but, as always, taken for a total mug :((

  13. ” in a move that has set tongues wagging across the the global sports catering wurld………….LA Maccaroon Bar, the newly branded football franchise have introduced full a -la -carte, at -seat dining experience for hungry season ticket holders……….. reports from bewildered Club executives suggest that season Book costs for the coming season will start at 6 grand………….”

  14. I agree that the food/ snack provision on matchday is duff, there must be some way of subbing it to someone better as Bada suggests………

  15. If I go to a match I usually eat beforehand or have plans made for afterwards.

I’d much rather have an at-seat toilet experience capability :))))))…………having a thimble-sized bladder means 90 minutes can be torture.

  16. Bankie

Of course a beer can would have been an ideal receptical back in the day. Just watch the sharp edges

  17. Sent off in the first minute, what a butthead.

    Could’ve been a 2nd red for Motherwell.

  18. Gene, I was hoping for something a little more plush for my paradise flush……………….

Something akin to a pop-up individual Canadian Hot Tub type contraption where one might go through the motions in a degree of comfort……………..my contributions to the games commentaryare usually pish so it would all fit………….

    :))))))
