It doesn’t really matter to me how other people write their own history. If Queens Park claim to be the same Club as the Queen of Clubs, they are welcome to, as long as they respectfully allow me to express scepticism. Fortunately, Queens Park’s business model is not dependent on making such an outlandish claim.
A whole lot of nonsense has been written on the subject of a recently liquidated football club, “it was the holding company that was liquidated”, when it wasn’t actually a holding company, and then we have claims about advice from a “panel of the London Stock Exchange”, which was quickly withdrawn.
We are asked to believe that a football club cannot go out of business. It’s an interesting thought, not one I subscribe to, but interesting nonetheless. If you are happy with this belief, fair play to you, it doesn’t matter what anyone else believes.
I’ve met Jim Spence. He’s a guy who emerged from the Dundee Untied fanzine world and established a reputable career in the game. His affinity for United has never been hidden, nor should it be. United, as all clubs, have gone through periods of turmoil but Jim has called things as he has seen them, with his own club, and with others.
This week Jim made a comment about a football club which went into liquidation. It was more tempered than comments made by a former manager and director of the liquidated club, by the chief executive of its successor club, by all the contemporary newspaper coverage, and by the successor club’s current head of PR. Despite this, Jim has been on the receiving end of a sustained campaign by the thought police.
Jim may privately think what those at the successor club once said, but if he also wants to express those thoughts, the consequences can be acute.
He’s not alone. I know others in the media who have told me straight that they are not prepared to touch the Newco/Sameco subject, the resultant hassle is not what they got into journalism for.
Charlotte Fakes has given us a glimpse into how powerful people can manipulate and control Scotland. It has given reason to pause ahead of next year’s big decisions. The BBC and only the BBC are strong enough to stand up against bullying, you can forget the commercial media for one simple reason, this subject is the equivalent of commercial self-harm.
It wouldn’t seem like the weekend without Rangers International writing about going legal on someone or other, although I suspect they’ll be content having played to the gallery with this one and not trouble the BBC, but questions remain for the BBC, no matter what happens next.
I consume enormous volumes of BBC output every month, it is my first port of call for news, and often my last. It is one of the best aspects of British life, but if it can be intimidated like the commercial media, there is no point in it existing in the first place.
Fortify your journalists or shut the doors.

Very sorry to hear the news about your brother Mik67.
Condolences to you and the rest of the family.

There’s a very simple question to ask if anyone starts the club/company nonsense – did Steven Naismith leave the club or the company?
If he left the club, and you’re still the same club, how come you didn’t get a transfer fee?
If he left the company, then that’s no big deal is it? You can’t accuse him of betrayal because he just left some corporate organisation, not your club.
RIP Miki67

I’m not really sure what Celtic can do to stop people living in denial. It’s pointless getting upset because people are too stupid to accept Rangers no longer exist.
Can one still purchase shares in yawn deed club? Ive a biscuit tin full of old ten bob notes just wasting away.
Billy Bhoy…
thanks for taking the time to read my ramblings.
I believe that the hierarchy is this…..
Champions of a non-diddy country go right into the group stages;
Champions of a diddy country (as we are now) play off against diddy teams;
Only is we are 2nd in Scotland (and Scotland isn’t diddy enough to have only one CL team)….would we play the likes of Arsenal in a qualifier.
Clear as mud….:)
Bottom line, as long as we are Champions, and keep qualifying like we did this year, things won’t get worse.
I think…..:)

I have just read the sad news of the passing of Miki67.
The man, knowing the seriousness of his condition, fought with a passion that was truly admirable. For me, he wrote some of the finest invective I’ve ever read on this site about the deid club. He put them in their place and he outlived them.
Michael, RIP, and condolences to all who knew him.
200??

My most sincere condolences on the passing of your dear brother Miki67.

Oscar Knox is my Hero – RWE
Moan and groan all you like, bur just like the media and the SFA, PL and DD are content to ignore all the shennanigans.
………………
You mean this?
“SFA thought Deidco were too big to fail. Their death was unthinkable to the SFA.
They set about making plans to avoid that unthinkable fact.
They colluded in a five way agreement.
They ignored, altered or stretched their own rules accordingly.
They failed to implement Uefa rules properly.
Despite all of their schemes, the club were liquidated and the assets sold off to Sevco.
Other than Craig Whyte, the SFA have effectively not held anyone accountable for this event.
They have given a free pass to all others.
The SFA enquiry found that no sporting advantage was gained by a decade of cheating by Deidco.
Jim Spence might just go back to Dundee Utd fanzines as they are more ethical.”
The above are just factual statements other than the last comment about where Jim Spence might feel he is better off.
The topic was Jim Spence, the BBC, the SFA and the denial at Deidco.
On the other hand your own wee post reeks of moaning and groaning, and you really had to reach and twist to get your own pet moan in too. What’s that all about? (please note that this a rhetorical question)
You are not privy to what anyone at Celtic is doing any more than I am. But if it suits your agenda to cast PL in the same light as the SFA then go for it.
HH
Miki67 you will be sorely missed, you were an inspiration. RIP

terrible news on your brother.
Miki67’s posts on here were like a breath of fresh air.
A sharpness and clarity that cut through some of the stodge
we can get on here at times.
He will be missed

Agree with a lot of what you said.
My biggest gripe is the flab that is allowed to build up in the squad.
That is both established players who are allowed to drift and the high wages we pay.
A couple os years ago I speculated that the club had a bare bones revenue target of £50mill — very limited Euro action and no domestic cup wins. The corollary to that figure is that we should have a bare bones — no big bonus payments — football / squad wage bill of £25mill.
That is the template we need to work to.
If £50 mill is the revenue then £50mill is the budget:
*** Squad wages = £25mill.
*** Stock / consumables = £10mill / very rough, possibly a bit high.
The mark up on pies / Bovril / strips / Nike branded nonsense would choke a horse.
*** Club running costs = £10mill / CEO total package £250K.
We are very flabby in this area.
At the top we pay too much, at the bottom we employ fans at low rates.
*** Investment both squad and physicals = £5mill.
Rough and ready figures — Anyone with better numbers then let’s be having them.
My big worry at the moment is that bare bones revenue has be allows to slide below £50mill.
However the club running costs have been allowed to balloon.
My fear is that the bare bones football wages are well past £25mill.
This is where my comments about flab come to the fore.
Plus the club running costs are much higher than £10mill.
The amounts we are paying to the top tier of the commercial management are to my mind organised theft from the support / working class.
Consequently we need Euro football because PL is fat and happy.
It just makes the squad building efforts of the past 3 months all the more nonsensical.
Well it looks as if Miki67 has the best seat in the house for tomorrow’s game. Michael, I am pleased your pain and suffering is over.

Miki67 — to steal from another’s post — Missed but not forgotten.
Larrybhoy,
Like everyone on here I was shocked to hear the news about your brother Miki67. He was without doubt one of the great CQN posters. He had a great way with words and a wonderful sense of humour. I will miss his musings and great wit.
Sincere condolences to you and all of Michael’s family.
Hail Hail

A man who made lurking around CQN worthwhile. May I have just a little of his courage and good humour in a time of trial. Condolences to all who grieve for him and wherever he may be may he rest in peace.

Just a thought – Norman Bates thought his Ma hadn’t died didn’t he? That didn’t end well either.
Funny you should mention that:

Larrybhoy,
Miki67 posts were always straight to the point and no prisoners taken.
I will miss his posts, a good man and a sad loss.
Condolelences to you and your family.HH
Paul67,
For as long as I can remember, the BBC, for me, is the only port of call for news of any stripe. I am appalled at the thought that they would allow themselves to be intimidated by any outside agency, let alone a dead football team and its apologists. BBC Scotland maybe but the Beeb? Maybe the famous Trust’s attention might be drawn to it. They seem to having a few anxious moments themselves just now.
Miki67.
Remember the day you posted with your bad news like it was yesterday. You tackled your disease with courage and will inspire others who face the same fight. Rest in peace.
Larrybhoy, I hope that how well your brother was regarded on here is of some comfort to you and your family at this difficult time. Condolences.
Has MIKI67 gone to his eternal rest? A great mhan and a great fighter. God bless him and his loved ones.
Larrybhoy:
Just heard the dreadful news about your brother mate, and he’ll be missed by every single one of us.
I don’t post as much anymore as I used to, but I do lurk a lot, and like other guys here I was blown away by his courage in the face of devastating news. He will be remembered by all of us, as an intelligent, articulate poster … with a passionate anger at the spectacle of cheating and corruption across town.
He lived to see some of our greatest days, and I believe he goes to a better place knowing that here we’re in the early stages of our days of victory. A final, total, victory.
I am only sorry he couldn’t have won his own personal battle.
Miki67, rest in peace my friend. HH.
It’s not just because Jim Spence’s off-hand remark is true. It’s also because JS has let the cat out the bag and so the continuity issue once again enters the public domain. An awful lot of people out there put great faith in the BBC and they are much more willing to accept the BBC version of events than they are to accept zombie spin . The smarter zombie knows that and doesn’t like it.

Sorry to hear the sad news of Miki67’s passing.
I’ll remember him as a fiery and funny hunskelper of a poster on this site.
Condolences to all of his family and friends.
Good day from a bright sunny crisp and pleasantly warm late summer’s day in the Great Garden State.
I have to go along with our host on the BBC angle.
As an expat, my second page opened in the morning, after CQN, is the BBC News Scotland page.
I know many people here who value the BBC News sites more than the national ones. PBS features BBC News programs every day.
If one of these “channels” is compromised and the journalists silenced then the whole BBC News effort will be called into question.
The powers, not in Scotland but in London, must act forcibly and quickly to ensure that their employees are not muzzled by intimidation by a segment of society seeking to justify their delusions and regain their importance.
Never got the privelage to meet Miki67
Though through his posts on here I KNOW I WOULD HAVE BEEN ALL THE BETTER for the chance.
His courage was an inspiration and brought him into my thoughts often when thinking of my small problems.
Another example of what make CQN so special as said earlier by better men than me today we heard of the loss of one of our own and it does feel like it.
Sleep well brave celt
Eternal rest give unto him , O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him may the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Larrybhoy and family you are in my prayers.
