It was important to Ange Postecoglou’s legacy that he won the Europa League with Spurs last night. Even more important for his future was how he won it. Spurs nicked a goal before the break and were clearing their lines and running the clock down from the start of the second half.
This did not make for an enjoyable watch, but it was evidence that Ange has grown as a coach. The slavish commitment to an unproductive football philosophy was abandoned; Ange is prepared to play for the result.
Two match stats are worth comparison. When Ange took Celtic to Bodo/Glimt three years ago Celtic ‘enjoyed’ 59% possession but lost 2-0. When he took Spurs there this month, Spurs won 0-2 with 31% possession. An injury hit Celtic team were easy for Bodo/Glimt to pick off. Spurs went north to make it difficult for the home side and were able to break effectively in the second half.
Brendan Rodgers walked the same path. For so long, he dominated Scotland but was humbled in Europe. A Pauline Conversion happened this season between games against Borussia Dortmund and Atalanta.
Neil Lennon outperformed Brendan and Ange in Europe because Neil never entertained purist fantasies. You need to learn to be pragmatic in life. Be a fast learner.

You are lying even now bout posting 9 years ago to me,your posts where a scroll by til you started swallowing every bit of racism, black and brown people, invasion shoite, getting called hunlike by you has made my day,you stick to your rancid racism, you are simply not to be believed.
For those wanting to expand the league to include even more dross please tune in to Livi v Ross County on Sky.
This is being broadcast nationwide.
it is an absolute embarrassment and reflects poorly on those running Scottish football.
Bit harsh surely GM?
I mean … the capacity crowd are riveted.

Yip didn’t know it was on, gave it 5 minutes. Stadium 80% empty and as for that pitch, thankfully noticed the darts was on…..
BRRB – yip. Me too.
Hopefully Ross County can finish the job next week.
They look a bit tired.
Don’t know why?
Two of last three games they’ve not turned up until 90+6 minutes

Maybe Celtic fans have forgotten where they came from and are now the judging, pointing, sniping, snarling, sneering, mean spirited, landed gentry, pitch forked 04:00 am eviction, mobs and mobs and mobs, of cold hearted tims who are the many, not the few, sadly.
Good luck to Lennon Miller at whatever club decides to pay €9m for him.
The chimneys may no longer be there … but some people are still blowing smoke in Lanarkshire.
Over and above the direct financial benefit Celtic deliver into Scottish football … our indirect role as the usual transfer suspect of choice …
… must bring extra money to any club who introduce a teenager who can do a pirouette with no one near them 50 yards from goal and kick a ball further than they can trap it.
Delighted that Ross County got a draw at Livingstone. Here’s hoping they win up north.
Now I know Lennon Miller must be a. very good player, because all the media, pundits, keep saying he is.Trouble is,Ii have never witnessed him do anything really.
I have tried .
Re the claims that Ange is a mason.
I know another masonic Greek who’s always hanging round with piles of bricks; Con Crete.
Will get ma coat.
Lennon Miller for 9mill or Hibs’ Nectarios Triantis for mibby 2m – no contest imo.
Read a wee piece from that wee naff Danny Murphy’ there god he doesn’t like Celtic . if the scouser goes back to Newco he is the man to bridge the gap with Celtic . Did he not say that the first time the scouser took over at the Victorian lavvy , doesn’t give the celts any praise at all .
PCS,
Lets pray, and I am not even religious.Anything but that pitch.

Thanks for mentioning the Ibsen play.
One which really shaped so much of my lifelong cynicism re the popular press and how we are manipulated. Eg Covid etc.
burnley78
Well to be fair it was BRRB who first mentioned Ibsen, the great Norwegian playwright.
Not easy at any time to be accused of being the heretic, (as I am sure you know) ,witness the Catholic Church’s reaction to Galileo’s challenge to what in effect was a doctrine, but as it turned out not one based on the scientific. Guessing when BRRB mentions Henrik in the Brazen, most think he is referring to the King of Kings….

Jimtim, first noticed his rancid sh1t on MOTD after Slippy became manager at Villa. Talked about his success (!?) at Rankers and how he was a winner. Blah, blah, crap and blah. Not one of the others picked him up on the fact that Slippy had only won one trophy out of nine. Basically talks pish on MOTD, but gets well paid for it.
Arse of a man.

Do you have a link to your €9m suggested fee?
I would not mind seeing Lennon Miller with us,i am sure he would come on under the coaching tutelege of Brendan Rogers.
The fee i am sure we would afford, nowadays daft money set by clubs, not L.Miller, the boy will be a success imo,i hope it is with us.
Lets see what happens as playstation transfer season beckons in and out
HH
As we enter transfer window can folk NAME source of their speculation(media outlet) and fee.
Ie L.Miller £9m
Triantis £2m
Remember clicks count for advertisers as sales plummet for their copy

Nobody on a casual fitba blog needs to provide proof points of what they post.
Sure; blatant lies and misinformation can be called out and challenged.
But CQN is a place for all sorts of weird and (occasionally) wonderful opinions.
Transfermarkt has Triantis pegged at 750k (quid)
As he’s improved of late, it wouldn’t be unrealistic to think Sunderland values him in the low millions
A-League comparables like Alex Paulsen, Jordi Bos and oor Marco Tilio all moved for circa 2million quid (transfermarkt)
Like houses, players are only worth what someone is prepared to pay for them so you can’t tell their real value until the deal is done. But informed guessing on a non-serious blog isn’t a big deal.

Q/PH.Nobody on a casual fitba blog needs to provide proof points of what they post.
AT -The strapline of cqn at one time was ‘not lazy journalism’all i am forward here is the source of rumour,if its an opinion say so,if in the media provide a link,ie melbourne Times report Celtic linked with player x,or blog y says we are goin for player x etc.or me thinking Lennon Miller would be a good buy(my own hunch)
Q/PHSure; blatant lies and misinformation can be called out and challenged.
AT -True but lets cut the lie before the error is compounded and repeated.naming a source can do that prior to lie goin twice around the world,if its personal opinion it can be debated out/laughed at/piss ripped out of etc
Q/PH-But CQN is a place for all sorts of weird and (occasionally) wonderful opinions.
AT – it is,long may that continue,a source wont alter that, but those mostly come from media who thro social media whip fans into expecting player x or y to come here, then it is used as a stick to beat folk doing their best to get players in,and there has been occasion the club were not interested in player x or y but clicks are needed and papers sell truth is ouf the window.
Tranfers are generally complex £multimillion deals, time is needed
Q/PHTransfermarkt has Triantis pegged at 750k (quid)

AT i havent looked at Triantis tbf but i find transfer markf highly questionable, how they weight the value of players, tis bit questionable,Just me,sometimes players go against data ie Stan Petrov pre and post MoN
QPH Like houses, players are only worth what someone is prepared to pay for them so you can’t tell their real value until the deal is done. But informed guessing on a non-serious blog isn’t a big deal.
AT long may you voice your opinion,if so say
Thats your source Q,all i am asking if its in press say that too.remember they are complex deals as well as that a source can clarify where an error in gossip started.
Ps i have friends at this time of year who morph into human Celliknooznoo beings.it just get boring,as its not factual.its pyuir windae hingin gossip, more wrong than right.
Transfer dealing is not easy,it has to fit both sides as yoh say,and livin next door to worlds bestest paid league disnae help.
Hope all well down under .Would yoube making a visit over soon?
HH
Hey AT.
That CQN strapline was mibby a brand stance for Paul (at one time) but his mission statement wasn’t adhered to in the comments section ( I never received my editorial guidelines sheet when I signed up, for starts !).
I don’t take that much of the posts/pish on here as gospel and certainly not all of my pish either.
Still enjoy a fair bit of what many posters contribute; informative, speculative or other (except obv hun trolling)
IMO it’s mainly Celtic-mindeds shooting the breeze so I’m not going to start to annotate or qualify all my contributions if I don’t feel its merited.
It’s been 2017 since we were last in Glasgow (just ahead of travelling to the Lisbon 50th) and we’d sure like to do Europe again when it would be good to meet some CQNers f2f and chew the cud over a brew.
As for the hounding of Kneecap, the same rapper LowKey did an interesting piece (information/speculation I dunno) on Galloway’s YouTube about who may have been involved in hounding Gary Lineker out.
I didn’t check LowKey’s data or sources but found it interesting nevertheless.

I also noted the £/€9 M (not sure which currency) valuation of Lennon Miller, think it might have been BBC football gossip, anyway he looks a promising player but Motherwell ain’t getting £/€9M unless it’s an eventuall tally through a series of generous add on.He may be worth that in a few years but not at the moment.
I can only judge what I’ve seen of Lennon Miller which to be fair isn’t an awful lot but in most games against Celtic I haven’t noticed he was playing apart from our 3-0 after FirPark last season ( I think) when he hit the woodwork maybe twice ?
3-0 win #
Delighted for Ange on Wednesday night but the match itself was awful , not that Spurs care mind you.
The Livingston pitch looks like the one my 10 year old grandson plays on. Shouldn’t be allowed in professional football

……………………………………..
Agree about the pitch.
Would just add that 10-year olds shouldn’t have to play on it, either .
I have recently been wondering about the logic of people learning an instrument starting with a really cheap, poor one; and only moving on to a more expensive, quality instrument once they can play well.
Good morning all from Govanhill. It’s Shipbank Friday!

Ibsen
Stuff we didn’t really expect to chat about on CQN eh.
Why we must win tomorrow.
In the lives of all CQN folk born after 1961 we have been in 33 Scottish Cup Finals.
11 v versions of Rangers
5 v Aberdeen
4 v Dundee U
3 v Dunfermline
3 v Hibernian
2 v Motherwell
2 v versions of Airdrie
2 v Hearts
1 v Inverness CT
We have won 25 of them and our head to head v each of the above is good.
Except v Aberdeen who have beaten us 3 times in my life in Scottish Cup Finals 1970 1984 and 1990 I think. We beat them in 1967 and 2017.
Time to level it up v the Dandy Dons.
Also want to win because they hurt Reo.
And to win another Treble.
Good morning CQN.
Thought this was a very good article.
IMHO, pitches exactly where Celtic Cyberspace should.
Intelligent, informative, factual .. with an edge.
