BEACHBALL SUNDAY 2

Cheeky Celtic supporters are planning to get around the Police restrictions on bringing banners into the League Cup semi-final at Hampden on Sunday by shopping at Sports Direct.

The Police are planning to ask supporters for fire certificates for their banners which will effectively ban the vast majority of banners from the national stadium.

However Celtic fans on social media are planning on getting around this restriction by staging Beachball Sunday 2. In 2003 Celtic supporters staged Beachball Sunday at Ibrox as the club progressed in the UEFA Cup towards the final in Seville.

Now on Sunday, playing against a different Rangers, the Celtic supporters plan to buy every available Sports Direct Beach ball and to inflate these inside Hampden.

Earlier this week, the crisis hit new Rangers had to accept another emergency loan from Sports Direct owner Michael Ashley who now has effective control over the new club. Ibrox fans are proposing boycotts and demonstrations at Sports Direct stores but Celtic supporters look certain to have his tills ringing as the Sports Direct beachballs sell out.
