Beating Newco the only language they understand

203

After humiliation upon humiliation, Newco reduced Celtic’s ticket allocation at Ibrox from 7,000 to 700 tickets.  Prisoners to their own fans, their board took action, knowing Celtic would reciprocate.  Celtic issued a notice at the time saying they would rather not play silly buggers (I think that’s how they put it), but Newco boxed themselves into a corner (a bit like their idea of visiting fans), their allocation for Celtic Park was also reduced.

A new era and a new season, both clubs seemed keen to revert to 7,000 visiting fans but Newco were worried that come 2 January, a winter wave could be in play, reducing or eliminating fans altogether when the teams meet at Celtic Park.  Unable to face their fans having permitted 7,000 Celtic fans at Ibrox in September if the same number of Newco fans were not able to cross the city in January, they capitulated.

The only lesson they actually learn is being well beaten by Celtic, no matter who is watching or refereeing.  Attempting to communicate with them in any other way is pointless, they will learn nothing and I include financial responsibility in that.  Get back to scoring five against them as a matter of course, they understand that message clearly enough.

I think we could improve on many positions , we have guys with reputations who we can’t rely on ,the boy you countered with being one . Wonderful wonderful player when he gives us it , and when he is playing .,turnbull the past few weeks too has been playing off the boil , he also on his game is good , our captain fits in with the other two . The jist of my post was these three are as soft as putty , not battle hard at all ,it’s an area of the park we are so badly lacking . It’s no bad thing having skill but against certain teams we need battlers but that is IMHO. Don’t know if any others noted it , but down at the newco end after we beat them at Celtic park , broonie was surrounded by 9 newco players Halliday and Kent had a swing at broonie , only Celt to intervene to help was ajer ,our present captain was an onlooker that really scunnered me . I also am unsure who our left back is , do we have one . HH

  2. That Sevco stat on red cards in domestic football is even more astonishing when you remember they’ve an absolute headbanger waddling around upfront.

In fairness the rest of our lads were probably too busy laughing.

Thanks for all the well wishes I got out of hospital last night. What an experience.

Discharged with the same pain I went in with, now I’m out of breathe when talking, walking or doing simple tasks I have Anti Biotics to take for an infection of Cholyitus or something (my daughter has my discharge paper and my feckin phone) nurses and junior staff were brilliant but I will not tell you what I think of the doctors.

Anyway thanks again to all for the best wishes, Big Jimmy was keeping me up to date as my concentration levels have been affected and the pain means I cannot concentrate too much on something, so thanks again.

Glad you have a diagnosis but that’s a real sore one as you say. Hope they have you on strong pain killers.

You are correct on that point . Beaten by one goal if only Thompson had scored with the penalty . I worked with the Dunfermline goalies dad at that time ,believe you me if they had needed 8 goals they would have got them , family steeped in newco . But my view to you on that , I wish I was watching the Seville team instead of what we are watching now pal . HH

Glad to hear that you are out of hospital, but less so that you still have the same degree of pain that took you in there, firstly to A&E if I am not mistaken. Big Jimmy said that you would be undergoing some scans, did these actually take place while you were either an in or out patient? Best wishes regardless.
