Bedwetters better wear a nappy

351

“We weren’t as sharp as we usually are. A lot of my players looked tired, too many of them simply weren’t in this game,” said the Celtic manager after a 0-0 draw with Hibs, a result that would allow Rangers to close the gap at the top of the table to one point.

The manager in question was Wim Jansen after a game in April 1998, the “Rangers” in question was Oldco, not Newco.

Yesterday’s Celtic performance was miles better than the one 24 years ago and yesterday’s Hibs were superior to the Hibs team relegated back then.  Those of us who were there, use it as a counterbalance when red lights appear to go off.  You can win a difficult league even when you cannot win important games.

Wim, in his first (and last) season at the club, remained calm, despite the alarming performances at the most crucial of times for Celtic.  He knew he needed to lead the players and the entire club through a difficult period.

I see parallels between Wim and Ange, their softly spoken demeanours, tactical insight and determination to keep all eyes on the prize.  Yesterday’s result and performance is not what the manager or anyone wants to see, but bedwetters better wear a nappy, we are in capable hands.

  1. Is hatate still injured? Adrenaline burst realignment? I never played at any decent level so u wouldn’t know

    I don’t think we’re far apart.

Hibs were bad. No one is saying they were the better team. Their tactics were a disgrace.

    Not saying we were ‘badder’😊

    But we were pretty bad.

  3. Paul67- many of us have used the term “bedwetter’ before and thought it funny but we have ben educated that others find it insulting and we should stop using it. I will try to- but will probably slip at some point.

There is a plea to allow constructive criticism of the team and I back it. I just wish there was more of it. There is far more expressions of frustration and bad mouthing of scapegoats than there is constructive criticism but we must allow that some try to do so and fall short, repeating their old bugbears regardless of whether they were relevant or not.

For example, we had many posts looking at the really stupid late passage of fanning about at the back and some called it season defining. As Super Sutton pointed out- we , yet again, did not lose a goal because of this. It was wrong but it is fluff.

Our problem is not the defence. Molde cut our defence apart and did it in several ways but we will not face a European team until July. We need to solve our Scottish problems and that is- a difficulty in creating goals.

We dominated Hibs but created very little – if we continue without a Kyogo or G-mak then we need to find a style that suits our small front three.

I don’t ned to tell Ange this – he knows more than I do- but we should allow each other on CQN to bore each other without thinking we are doing serious coaching advice

It’s just a blog and it used to be a very good one.

The day someone posts that James Forrest’s blog does a better job than this one should be a warning, even if it is not true

Very good post. That’s 2 posts this morning ( yours and CORKCELT’s) where I fully endorse the sentiments expressed.

  7. Big Jimmy,

Very sad to hear you’ve been red carded.

Always enjoy your posts, your honesty and integrity shines through.

  8. The pitch was terrible yesterday, and slowed us down, having to take extra touches, looked like they trained on it,and didn’t roll it,along with the constant time wasting, disappointed with Maloney’s tactics.

  9. Maeda looks a more effective player coming in front the left. He is also adjusting to new styles of ‘defending’, ‘refereeing’ and ‘robustness of play’. So far he’s contributed in terms of goals, assists and work rate since arriving. Early days.

I would give him more time before making ant judgements.

Hatate has faded since his explosive start. Again, getting used to packed defences etc is bound to be a challenge. Still looks like he needs to focus a bit more and indeed learn a bit about the game. Sees and plays some lovely passes. Gets a few wrong too. Has contributed goals and assists and good defensive actions. Better when O’Riley plays.

O’Riley – best of the January signings. Nuff said.

All three of these guys have improved the squad. All three have more to offer. They came in cold at a crucial time and delivered.

    Don’t lose sight of that.

As excellent as Hatate has been in games, what’s the view on the protection he offers/assistance he provides Calmac?

It seems to me that Callum, when Bitton isn’t in the side, invariably becomes our defensive midfielder whilst at the same time teething to drive us forward/split the opposition midfield. It’s a big ask on his own.

So far, when Reo is on it, he’s really on it. When he’s not, he offers little more than Tam or Matt. I’m just wondering what the view is on our strongest midfield partnership

No idea what Big Jimmy did to get red carded but considering the number of down right racists and ones with obvious mental health issues still polluting this blog, it does look odd😱😵

  12. Fran Alonso saying Murray Park pitch not good to play ,after the Ghirls were beaten 3/0 by Sevco Girls ,I watched some of it the pitch looked ok ,in fact there training ground looked good a bit of money spent on the ground ie a Stand and I noticed one thing about that club they are good at letting the public see and know who plays here and they own it ,Don’t see much of that up at Murray Park, maybe when Barrowfield gets redesigned it will look good .

It’s a bad sign when “visitin” bottons, dullyins and guff-nugget trolls are allowed free rein and old skool Glasgow Tim characters like jimmy Bhoy get a card…..

I suspect that a number of posters will be struggling with issues of one sort of another, and their posts may be a release valve for them. Ridicule isn’t appropriate.

The trouble is that certain posters are a bit selective in who is or is not to be cut slack, and it’s fairly clear how they decide who is in which camp.

What is the opposite of the present centre right Tories who are in government in Britain??

If real right wing Thatcher led Tory party was in govt in this 👆 time, then those whining about ‘right wing’ would’ve had plenty to whine about.

Labour Party, which if truth be told, would be ‘more’ right wing than the present centre right, Tory govt, a Labour Party that believes men can give birth?? that is more interested in pronouns than its working class voters?? that its leader Starmer as head of DPP (department of public prosecutions) failed to prosecute the pedophile Jimmy Saville?? that stitched up the great investigative journalist Julian Assange?? that happy clapped 2 years of lock down misery for 2+ years whilst supposed to be the opposition and opposing nothing, being more like the red cheek of the blue Tory ass?? dismissed out of hand the alternative scientists view that the lock downs were a vast unnecessary overreaction to a virus with a 99.999997% recovery rate, which only Nigel Farage on GB news has given the “true” death toll of 17,000 and ((NOT)) 170,000+ reported by every other news outlets watched by, what seems like, most CQNrs, a media that is now rolling out the ‘red’ carpet for Starmer after spending a full 5 years of sleekitly trying 48 times to overturn Brexit, and his smearing, Jeremy Corbyn, with accompanied unsubstantiated fake smears from every fake news media outlet apart from, RT UK, GB news wasn’t formed then or this, what posters on here lazily call “right wing” news would’ve accurately reported on the McCarthy-ite smear campaign against a politician who was a unique concept in UK politics, a politician who wanted to build from the bottom up the way, and who openly supported, Sinn Fein, and is 100% behind a united Ireland, etc, etc,?? a Labour Party that happy claps the oppression of Palestinians?? that smeared its former leader, Jeremy Corbyn, as an anti-semite without providing a shred of evidence to back these claims up?? that has expelled tens of thousands of Jewish people from Labour Party membership because they all love, Jeremy Corbyn?? that covered up the corruption from Labour Party ‘staffers’ who colluded to prevent Jeremy Corbyn from becoming British PM after 2017 GE which he lost by 2,000+ votes because of internal corruption within Labour Party from pro Blairite ‘staffers’ see #LabourLeaks, or a ScotGov that detests Glasgow Celtic and all who support it, and tries to change the sex of 4 year olds at schools without parents knowledge, and thee only news outlets in UK to report on this, GB news, and Daily Express, a ScotGov that has 99.9999999% of local media in its pocket, that wants to deny Scots the right to a jury trial, that agitated along with Libdems for Brexit before Brexit was even a thing??, the Greens see ScotGov??

There is one political party in Britain, led by, George Galloway, that is doing what the misnamed, Labour Party used to do, look after the workers, check them out, WPGB, is 100% working class, 100% socially conservative, anti-imperialist, anti-NATO, anti-woke, pro peace in Palestine two state solution, etc, as time goes on that looks more difficult sadly, and yet, only GB news has had the balls to interview, GG, as a staunch Brexiteer, a Brexit for the workers ((NOT)) the bankers, that’s why the illiberal and, undemocratic, ScotGov, Labour,Party, 100% of British / Scottish media, simply cannot accept that the poor, forgotten, North of England, and other poor areas, all voted for Brexit, a no deal Brexit means an automatic united Ireland as it renders the Good Friday Agreement, defunct because of the border issues, the crappy ‘deal’ that was agreed by the corrupt, imperial, Tory govt in UK, and the equally, corrupt, imperial, EU, sucks and misses the point, throw 2+ years of virus chaos on top and, Brexit hasn’t been properly executed, yet! But but but, The Tories will continue kicking the can, Labour Party, ScotGov, Greens, Libdems, all want to overturn a democratic vote, as ScotGov wants to overturn the democratic vote of Scottish people n 2014 to ‘remain’ in UK, ScotGov has not once accepted that democratic vote, never once tried to make it work for Scots people.

Only the Workers Party of Britain has had no involvement in any of the gross, deceit, or, failure, above. 👆

Glasgow Celtic FC born from political oppression and genocide. 🙏
