Bedwetters better wear a nappy

351

“We weren’t as sharp as we usually are. A lot of my players looked tired, too many of them simply weren’t in this game,” said the Celtic manager after a 0-0 draw with Hibs, a result that would allow Rangers to close the gap at the top of the table to one point.

The manager in question was Wim Jansen after a game in April 1998, the “Rangers” in question was Oldco, not Newco.

Yesterday’s Celtic performance was miles better than the one 24 years ago and yesterday’s Hibs were superior to the Hibs team relegated back then.  Those of us who were there, use it as a counterbalance when red lights appear to go off.  You can win a difficult league even when you cannot win important games.

Wim, in his first (and last) season at the club, remained calm, despite the alarming performances at the most crucial of times for Celtic.  He knew he needed to lead the players and the entire club through a difficult period.

I see parallels between Wim and Ange, their softly spoken demeanours, tactical insight and determination to keep all eyes on the prize.  Yesterday’s result and performance is not what the manager or anyone wants to see, but bedwetters better wear a nappy, we are in capable hands.

You can dress it up whatever way you want but you are a troll.

Celtic forever and many more have your measure.

The very first day you posted, 2 well known and respected posters on here, called you out as a well known troll, who has been barred from the vast majority of Celtic blogs.

They even gave your first name.

Virtually everything you have posted since then has proved them correct.

In internet slang, a troll is a person who posts inflammatory, insincere, digressive, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community.

It’s a poor day for the blog that an honest, up front man, like Big Jimmy is banned.

  2. It has taken me sometime to arrive at a conclusion but ………. I think the internet is full of eejits.

Surely under the law, it’s not for Celtic FC to provide documentation that proves they have no legal connection to Celtic Boys Club.

It is the responsibility of the plaintiff to provide such proof.

    ——-

That’s a relevant point and hopefully a deciding factor.

    Quote from Celtic’s QC –

“He said his clients(Celtic) believed they wouldn’t get a “fair trial” because documents which would be key to their case that the boys club and Celtic FC were different entities were missing”. We have to ask why they are missing – mind you we are talking about fifty-years ago!

This would be worrying if the action was given the go-ahead, which apparently will be decided today.

Looks like ‘Habit & Repute’ is the prosecution’s line of attack. The absence of documentation plays into their hands.

I was sitting in the front stand in line with the 18 yard line When Andy Ritchie “scored” that screamer from the half way line. Well, I thought it was Andy and I thought it was the halfway line. The freezing fog had the better of me.

    —-

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I think the other foggy night might have been v Hibs. I think they were 2 up and the game was abandoned, or maybe my mind is too foggy 🤔

I really do hope for your sake and your credibility that you have no connections to the lawyer / compensation complex that has grown up around the CBC abuse litigation?

Just a case that you provide chapter and verse on every single element of this long running case — which would appear to have a very active media / social media grid element to it — from a very lawyer / “prosecution” friendly perspective.

Football — you offer nothing new.

Politics — you offer nothing new.

Life in general — you offer nothing new.

CBC case — you are the font of all prosecution knowledge.

I would say that it all adds up to an interesting outlook.

So the question remains — do you have any contacts / links to the case?

My thoughts are that the lawyer knows his case is as thin as Diet Coke — for various reasons — and is trying to shame the club into an out of court settlement using any means necessary.

He has worked very hard to generate — possibly even buy through the use of publicists — bad headlines / publicity for the club at every level.

It is within this environment that your recent arrival on CQN and your laser like focus on this one case has to be viewed.

Apologies in advance if I have got this wrong but the view from Kiltoon is that you are very much a one club golfer and the question has to be asked — useful idiot vs paid shill vs wind up merchant vs concerned citizen ?

    Discuss !?!

The old habit and repute angle — from memory it didn’t work very well against AS.

In fact it could be argued that it helped him as some of the incidents put forward to make the case were so weak / ridiculously bad — Banquo’s ghost at a 4 person dinner — that they took the focus of the main charge.

I would have thought that the fact the abuse was discussed by the Celtic Board (assuming that this can be proved) raises a presumption that there was a duty of care, whether or not the two entities were legally separate.

So the papers were regularly reporting on legal action against Celtic FC because of sexual abuse at Celtic Boys Club and you decide that the fact that the possibility of legal action against the club was discussed in the boardroom – shockeroony – is proof that they are guilty.

The world has to be a happier place that you are not a defence lawyer.

  11. Tom McLaughlin on

I don’t always agree with JHB but for anyone to claim that he never posts anything about Celtic is patently untrue.

  12. MADMITCH @ 9:47

    ——

My interest in the case is because it could do harm to Celtic. I make no judgement, but anyone can see where the plaintiff(prosecution) wants it to go. Thompson Solicitors have bided their time in setting this up – the recent decision in the Scottish Parliament (2020) to allow class actions to be pursued in Scotland has been what they have been waiting for. Until this is resolved it should be a matter of concern to all in the Celtic family.

  13. Saint Stivs,

Absolutely not a criticism, only an observation.

You have posted twice today so far, none are Celtic related.

  16. Ukraine in the news — the establishment angle / the news grid angle.

Troops vs civilians — the UK is in a bad place with the way it has handled the Bloody Sunday events.

All Russia has to do is lie / invent / stall for 50 years and they will be in the clear.

War crimes — the UK is in a bad place with the way it handled war crimes in Iraq / A’stan.

Claim they never happened and when the evidence turns up use the fog of war and PTSD.

Then blame the victims / the lawyers / the old politicians.

In the end it is the hypocrisy that gets you.

We have them in the Nations league as well (as do Ireland). FAI selling 2022 season tickets at about 250-350 euro. Friendly with Belgium selling pretty crap seats at 120 euro. Good luck with that

  18. Pity Celtic by numbers couldn’t do a Superbru style leaderboard on Celtic related posts.

I think the results would be illuminating.

  19. I wonder how many class actions will be brought through the Scottish courts?

  26. Frankly I am disgusting, indeed saddened by some comments about ” White Christians ” and ” White lives matter in overdrive ”

The theme of the blog yesterday was compassion. Compassion for one individual who deserves a reprieve.

Where is the compassion for Ukrainian refugees?????

It can coexist with an understanding of the bigger picture and a realisation that there are double standards and hypocrisy involved on the part of third parties in how such events are viewed according to, for example, the ethnicities of the victims or the geo politics at play. .

It’s sort of like being able to fart and chew gum at the same time.

  28. Ernie Lynch,

What did BIG JIMMY actually write to cause his red card? Me – and a few others – seem blissfully ignorant about it. I get it was a spat against some online nemesis, but have no insight on the specifics that got him carded?

If I could attend the swally, guess I’d find out. But the Uber fares from downunder are a bit prohibitive.

BJ has a BOOMING/BLUSTERY editorial style on here and most punters seem to dig his auld patter.

As Paul allows a fair amount of bordering-on-abusive mud-slinging, it musta been O.O.O to get a ban??

Not that we’ve all signed up to an etiquette charter or anything, but surely it’s Paul’s prerogative (and Paul cops plenty abuse too btw) to remove any poster for breaching what he decides is acceptable or tolerable?

Or else it’s a place where certain types of abuse fae the right kind of poster – is permissable, as long as it’s against the wrang kind of contributor. Gets a bit schoolyard-cliquey then, IMO.

We need different characters on here, so surely BJ will get to come back someday – and mibby even wiser for the experience. HH

As I have said a few times, you do seem to get a tremendous amount of stick which, IMO, is totally unjustified.Keep on keeping on.

On that point, the reaction of those who totally support Ukraine to those who say` Well, at least let us look at the argument of the other side` is didturbing.

Had the Scotland – Ukraine match, on 24 March been sold out before the Russian Invasion last Thursday, it could have been said that the SFA had acted in good faith, with no reason to believe the game would, or might not be played. For the SFA to sell tickets for said game yesterday, when FIFA has not even confirmed that the match will go ahead or when is nothing short of a disgrace. And no faux solidarity from Rod Petrie will change that fact. The only message exhibited by the SFA here is the priority of getting the ticket money in the bank, and, if the Ukraine decide that playing said game in three weeks is not their priority in the midst of war and do not show…….added bonus.
