History makers on Saturday but Brendan Rodgers and his players will have nothing but tomorrow’s game against Bayern Munich on their minds today. In truth, the 100-year-old 62 game unbeaten run achieved by Willie Maley’s team looked like it was equalled despite minds being focussed on Champions League duty.
While there was no shame in losing 3-0 in Munich two weeks ago, Celtic were poor. It was not until Bayern achieved their objectives Celtic players looked less intimidated. We were unpicked repeatedly in defence while we retreated under the merest pressing from Bayern.
A win tomorrow is not beyond Celtic, but win or lose, we have to learn how to compete against teams of this level. We have endured harsh lessons against Barcelona and PSG over the last 13 months. Progress would not necessarily mean repeating the kind of remarkable 2-1 victory we got over Barcelona five years ago, being competitive in the game and defending with discipline would be a start.
BRENDAN RODGERS – The Road to Paradise is available now from CQNBookstore.com and for the first 100 sold on the bookstore we will include a free gift.

Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has hit back at the club’s striker Robert Lewandowski after the forward criticised the club’s work in the summer transfer window.
Speaking with Bild (h/t Mark Lovell of ESPN FC), Rummenigge was adamant the German champions brought enough players in and suggested Lewandowski will face some disciplinary action for his words.
“Clearly Robert has been affected by the PSG transfers,” said the chief executive. “Nevertheless, he is employed by us as a footballer and earns a lot of money. I regret his comments. Anybody who criticises the trainer, the club or his teammates will immediately be in trouble with me personally.”

…………………….
You could eat a meal in the BV….or there’s a couple of meat and chicken joints right at Glasgow Cross.
I eat in both sometimes and they are pretty good….5 or 6 lumps of battered Bayern…sorry Chicken….or next door you can have a nice Bayern Burger and French Fries ?
Apparently in Merchant City there is a Fan Zone with drink and eatables obviously…but I#ll bet it will prove extra pricey ?
Looking forward to meeting you mate in the BV.

Lewandowski out is great news. Muller – who would probably have played up front – is also injured. Not sure if they have any other decent strikers or if they will use Rodriguez as a “false 9”.
Think we have half a chance of getting a result, but we will have to get the basics right this time.
Would like to see better protection for the full-backs. No ball watching! Keep switched on to the off-the-ball movement. And give them something to worry about at the other end.
all you lot going to the blane valley cyber pint to you all. im feckin jealous. will watch it in my local here in cheshire with the hun taxi driver. left leg king billy tatoo .right leg ftp tatoo. if only some of the catholics in the pub knew what ftp meant. by the way when rangers win he puts 32 red shirt on when they get beat he puts his liverpool shirt on w—-r ktf.

If we can neutralise Coman and Robben and big Moussa plays up front against Hummels then we might scrape a point. I, unfortunately, have to agree that wee Paddy won’t be missed against Bayern as he was a passenger in Munich. Possibly a bold 2 up front with Moussa and the Griffalo might shake them up. However, our defence is the key to whether we take something from this game or not.

1PR’s absence. Agree. My eye brow was raised when I saw he was starting in Munich. Then my spirits were ‘un raised’ as he was out hustled and out muscled. JF offered a good deal more when he came on.
2. Better defending? Deffo. And/but defending starts at the top of the field then the middle. The space and time we afforded them to stroll out from the back and through midfield was suicidal.

Rodriguez .
A one foot ( the left ) No 10 .. Doesn’t look capable of playing as a No 9 . . Not as sharp as some of his team mates who occasionally give him lip re giving the ball away . Fond of the Hollywood goal (with the left peg ) attempt from distance . Looks half the player he was at Monaco . Doesn’t look like the player Real Madrid played 80 million euros for . –
Hopefully not tempting fate CSC -way down soth.

The grub in BV is good. Look forward to seeing you again tomorrow. Safe journey.

Dammit, where am I gonna hang my jaikit tomorrow?
Bournsouprecipe Dalmarnock, Railway Station ,isn’t good for our fans who come from the East,The Forge if it had a Railway Station, would be ideal, the other alternative is Bellgrove, which for me,at 74 is a good walk,or a taxi, but to think back in the day ,there was a Railway line ,were the Superstore is,but along with Another railway Station in Rigby Street, they filled it in ,back in the sixties, and built them Flats that you see in Springfield Rd and London Rd,if only someone had a vision years back of keeping these lines and Stations opened,it sure would have eased the traffic that we see on match days.
ELTIC are delighted to announce that Kieran Tierney has signed a new six-year deal which will see him remain at the club until at least the summer of 2023.
The 20-year-old is a firm favourite with Celtic supporters, and has already clocked up nearly 100 first-team appearances for the Hoops since making his debut against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park on May 2015.
He was an integral part of the treble-winning invincibles last season, while this season he’s captained the team twice and scored one of the contenders for goal of the season, with a blistering 40-yard strike against Kilmarnock in the League Cup.
And Celtic supporters will be ecstatic that Kieran has committed his long-term future to the club he’s always supported.
KT signs new 6 year contract
KT 6 year deal. (With us!!!!)

Well done,KT.
A genuine living-the-dream Celtic man.
HH
For those of us here old enough to theoretically have a 20 year old son (i.e. Most of us!! Or at least the youthful cqn crew!!) KT is akin to another son to us.
HH jamesgang
Brilliant news about KT, A 6yr deal wow that’s unheard of. What a Statement by KT, Celtic through & Through, I love the ghuy.
Folks ye have convinced me to eat in the BV.
Jamesgang I have looked and searched in vain to find CQN corner, I think it doesn’t exist or else everybody scatters when they see me coming.
What time do ye feckers meet at & where the bloody hell do ye hang out.
Kieran Tierney is here for 12 in a row, 12 in a row.
James
KT was born on the same day as me.
32 years apart :)
This is how it feels to be Celtic

CORKCELT
We’ll explain exactly where The Coarnir is tomorrow.
Corkcelt
Like you, I couldn’t find CQN corner the first time I went …. now, that is not unusual for me, as I have the world’s worst sense of direction (I could get lost going from my bedroom to my bathroom some days!) … so, getting lost/not finding something is the norm for me!
but, I can assure that it does exist (although the ‘corner’ thing can be a bit misleading …) it is just by the store/pools office …
If your sense of direction is anything like min, I suggest that you do what I did …. Find another great CQN’er who is going and who will take you there! In my case, Hrvatski Jim was kind enough to get me there …. and, as a bonus, he even sprung for lunch first! A prince of a guy!
Corkcelt
Just outside the pools office.
Look for an outstandingly handsome tim with a giant smile and gentle kind words for everyone.
That’s’ BlantyreTim’s da…… we’re just along a bit!
DD – explains everything.
HH jamesgang
Taking off.
By the time I land I expect us to have signed Jordan Larsson. And Kenny Miller (just for the craic….)
HH jamesgang
Fantastic Celtic, fantastic Kieran Tierney.
Brilliant news
