Being competitive and disinclined against Bayern

362

History makers on Saturday but Brendan Rodgers and his players will have nothing but tomorrow’s game against Bayern Munich on their minds today. In truth, the 100-year-old 62 game unbeaten run achieved by Willie Maley’s team looked like it was equalled despite minds being focussed on Champions League duty.

While there was no shame in losing 3-0 in Munich two weeks ago, Celtic were poor. It was not until Bayern achieved their objectives Celtic players looked less intimidated. We were unpicked repeatedly in defence while we retreated under the merest pressing from Bayern.

A win tomorrow is not beyond Celtic, but win or lose, we have to learn how to compete against teams of this level. We have endured harsh lessons against Barcelona and PSG over the last 13 months. Progress would not necessarily mean repeating the kind of remarkable 2-1 victory we got over Barcelona five years ago, being competitive in the game and defending with discipline would be a start.

Brendan son, Tommy Burns{RIP} didn’t park a bus in his life, maybe he should have. Only saying.

Even Mr Stein would tell you that, his teams didny play the fabled, Celtic Way, every week.

The Willie Maley song has sabotaged the Celtic mindset.

    Horses for courses, the cute way, ye canny go wrang ;

    …….oot.

Apparently, we’ve all been suffering under a delusion.

According to the Meeja, KT is NOT a Celtic player………..

He is a Man Utd. and Tottenham TARGET.

    C’mon guys….keep up!

  4. Just read there that KT resigned.

    :-(

Then I realised he has really re-signed.

    :-)))

43-0 to the hooos tomorrow on the back of that.

PS can someone not do something about the badverts on here. A friggin nightmare. Even turning off JavaScript and having a decent ad blocker is failing noo. Get a grip CQA (Celtic Quick Adverts)

  5. Gordybhoy64

I’ll give that a try. I don’t generally use Firefox as it is slow and hangs frequently. But to get rid of the Badverts I’ll take the jump. At least for CQA.

  6. MWD- I was getting ads even with Adblocker, i uninstalled it then reinstalled it, no bother since.

  7. Big jimmy, KT is Mick the millers bhoy, am sure the Wishaw bhoys know who he is . Ps can assure you mate that’s who he takes the tough streak from . One hardy bhoy

  8. The ad contract is nearing its end date and we are seeing then on 21 November with one item on the agenda, the problem that the ads are causing.

A compromise solution needs to be found but the status quo isn’t acceptable.

In the meantime please try switching off JavaScript – it removes all the problems in two seconds flat.

Go to settings then safari then advanced then turn off JavaScript . Then go to CQN and you will only see the ad for Brendan’s new book – the rest are gone.

You need JavaScript fr videos, podcasts and well if you want to see the ads! It takes two secs to switch on – use it to watch the video etc then switch off.

It will clear the ads from the other sites too, Celtic Blog etc

  9. Mike,

Save the birthday greetings until June, unless you particularly want to wish me happy birthday every day :-))))

Sure you have more important things to do with your time, but appreciate the sentiment anyway.

Hope you’re keeping well, despite all the turmoil.

    Take care my friend.

G lucky you….I was born on the same day as Pat (soupsupper) Bonnar.:O(

  14. Cheers Guys. To tell you the truth they seem to be more problematic on Apple devices rather than Android.

But I’ve slain them all to date, however the company Pc’s, now that is a real challenge. Schhhh.

  15. Tontine Tim. Mary Travers…up with the very best.

MiT. …when we lost our King Charles Spaniel Lucy , after a few weeks Mrs HJ decided to get a white cockatiel. We went to the animal rescue centre and came back with a black labrador.

Fantastic news all round about Kieran. This could be our most significant signing for many years.

First time in my life I got the starter and 3 bonus questions on University Challenge all right tonight. Now, Nigella is giving me the eye on her new show which she recorded solely for me. Pity none of the rest of you can see it.

Burnley/Newcastle is not one of your boring goalless games.

    No

    It’s much worse.

Mrs HJ got 16 questions correct one night. She must average 8 to 10 most weeks. Problem for me is that UC wastes too much time on Elizabeth 1st / Mary Queen of Scots etc. and nothing about Dan Doyle, Jimmy McGrory, Charlie Tully , Billy McNeil etc.

  19. Hrvatski Jim,

16 correct, jeezo wouldnt get that if i watched for a year,

now The Chase, thats a different story;-))

I know you have your own opinions.

However I sat beside Packy Bonnar at a Killie v Celtic game probably 2000/2001. I had my bhoy with me who would have been 9 and the big man was an absolute gent.

That’s the only time I met him and I was left with the impression that he was a decent, kind man.

I know others have posted different in the past but in the interest of fairness, I thought it was correct to post my positive experience.

So don’t feel so bad VP :-)

    Hail Hail

  22. I don’t know about old players but in current squad Tony Ralston born same day as me but 35 years later, if my arithmetic is correct.

That’s fair comment, mate. And fair play to you for pointing it out.

My observation is based purely on his media performances over the years. I find them disappointing,to say the least.

  24. Good evening, friends.

I still remember playing golf in June 2001 and learning that Henrik had just agreed to stay for another 3 years amid loads of speculation that he could be leaving that summer. I still remember thinking simply “Three more years – THREE MORE YEARS!!!”.

16 and a bit years later and my current favourite player in The Hoops signs up for 6 more years – SIX MORE YEARS!! Realistic to understand that this is a win-win situation for both Club and Player but nevertheless we’re talking about a guy who has been with Celtic since the age of, what 8 and certainly gives absolutely no suggestion that he wants to go anywhere else anytime soon.

Couldn’t be happier with the news. A 6 year contract. Honestly can’t ever remember a Celtic player agreeing a 6 year deal!

    Outstanding performance from all concerned.

And just one more sleep…… ;-)

  25. BMCUW/VP.

Punditry wise I see where your coming from.

He knows how to ensure that his contract is renewed.

    Hail Hail
