Being formed by immigrants still has power to shock

1162

A club formed by the Irish immigrant population sends best wishes to Scotland and Ireland. Read all about it! It’s as though our heritage still has the power to shock. How timely the outrage came hours before Celtic launched their “We are Celtic – and we say No To Racism” initiative.  This morning Scott Brown reminded us, “Celtic has been a club open to all people since its formation in 1888”.  Stick to task, Celtic.

Congratulations to our former boss, Martin O’Neill, in getting the Irish to at least the knock-out round. Commiserations to our other former boss, Gordon Strachan. Gordon will be feeling sore right now but he should lick his wounds and stick to task. He got the better of Ireland on their head-to-head and came within a whisker of also getting the better of Poland. The loss in Georgia was typical Scotland – you cannot change everything in two years, while Ireland taking four points from six off Germany is inexplicable.

Gordon is by far the best man to take Scotland the World Cup 2018 qualifiers; get on with it.

Saltires, when Ave Maria was sung at your dad’s funeral, it brought back how well your gran sung it.

That Pogues gig at the QM, was great. They played the barras just after Jock Stein passed away. That was my favourite Pogues gig although the Saturday night of the 3 gigs on the trot they did in 1987, comes close. That night was mental. The Heraghty’s young team (of that time) were out in force for that gig.

  4. From now until January we will be pounded by stories of Nir Biton being sought after by all and sundry. We had a full year of VVD,now its Nirs turn.I would have thought we would have been given a break from all of this by the rush from English clubs to sign the Sevco goal machine that is plying his trade at Ibrox,or even the new “Kafu”from the same neck of the woods.Seems not.

Still,I would not be a bit surprised if”The Louden Tavernier”is not punted in January to keep the lights on a bit longer.

Have you been reading the excellent JOHNJAMESSITE? He knows more about The Lying King than anyone else,it seems.

Including King himself-at least JJ can attempt to figure out King’s end-game. King himself canny!

Efe scored Nigeria’s first goal in a 3 nil win against Cameroon.

He dedicated the goal to his wife.

Let’s hope , as well scoring in his country’s green and white , he scores for the green and white of his club.

I like Efe,and rate him highly. Oh,I know he’s prone to errors, dontajoooost, but trust him, give him a settled role,he’ll be fine-as is the case for his country.

Anyone who’s petrified of cocking up is guaranteed to do just that. And that is how Efe is wi Celtic at the moment. He’s settled in his role with his country.

    And trusted.

I genuinely believe he would be the same with us,given the same circumstances.

  8. Guys

I’m just perusing the league tables for the EC groups.

Who the hell were the pot 1 team in the NI group. Was it Greece – who finished last behind the Faroes?

  9. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Bobby, Efe has made mistakes and the way some of our support go on, he causes us a goal a game.

In a hail hail website article last week, the guy who wrote it said teams we play are guaranteed a goal start when Efe plays.

I challenged this by asking him , apart from the Rubentus and Fenerbache games plus the penalty Efe conceded at Tannadice, how many goals has he been directly responsible for. The chap never replied like all others I have asked the same question to.

I think, as I have said before, it might be in Ef’e’s best interests if he left. His card has been marked now by our support and the media, unjustlyin my mind.

  10. Dallas,

    Agreed.

I have had the same run in with a mate of mine. Every goal whilst he’s on the park is his fault.

Another beauty is we won’t win in Europe as long as he plays.

    Some great results prove otherwise.

  11. Billy bhoy,

Aye Greece are the top seeds. Braw group eh? ;)

Ranked 7th. I can see that changing on the next shuffle.

Not surprised by sudden interest in Nir. It’s a translation from agents and clubs that are watching him. He could have gone in the Summer but another few months will put another few million on him.

We will go for Souttar as a long term replacement.

Regardless of the rumours about Johansens conduct I would sell him in January. Good player but upsets the chemistry of the team. I’d like to see him removed as a number 10 option to give those more deserving of the role a shot.

Johansen will do well in Germany.

We lack creativity. We lack power when we need it.

Johansen is a Nordic or Germanic style number 10. Hard working but lacks the puff when he eventually works a goal opportunity due to being unable to complete under lack of oxygen.

Stefan should look at Zidane vomiting before he took a penalty to remind himself what completing means. That’s not to say he’s not fit. He is extremely fit but finishing a chance or making a pass when your body has given up

Is a learned skill. Johansen is not as I’ll disciplined as Gravesen he just plays a different discipline from his team mates.

Ultimately, Ronny needs to find a chemistry among new recruits. The secret to success that Scotland and England can’t find in international games.

I’m with you on that. His confidence has been blown to smithereens by the reaction in the press, and latched on by some of us too.

Anyone who is a first pick for a country like Nigeria should be hailed by us as the star he is. Or should be.

But his confidence is fragile. The first battle in a game is with yourself, are you up for it.

    Hell,yes! Nigeria.

    Aw,f..k,I hope so. Celtic.

Same person. Different teams. Different press and different fans.

I know I wasn’t alone in watching Fenerbahce first goal and simply saying to myself,Efe I wish that had been someone else.

But the fact is,it wisnae. It was Efe.

The first battle is in your head. His head is right wi Nigeria. It’s all over the place wi us.

And we need to sort it. Because experienced and highly-rated internationals are becoming a rare commodity at Celtic Park.

I have been on a couple of Hun sites and a few were trying to make out JJ was a Tim,maybe Phil.Again trying to bury their heads in the sand. This was shot down by a lot on Hun Media who know the guy personally. He is a “Real Rainjurs Man”.To quite a few on there,he has got them worried, the rest,as usual, shouting him down.

If it all comes out and justice is done, this will be as good as the last lots demise.Admin will be nothing like the last farce. All eyes will be on the administrators, and whichever company is picked for the task will do it properly.

Could be a great run up to Xmas.

I’d say the emergence of JJ has signalled one slight change from last time a ‘Rangers’ team went bust. Some of them are actually looking at the message (and as you say getting a bit worried) and not just the messenger, then ignoring it.

Johanssen flicked a ball past his marker in our half, outran the defenders and finished coolly inside the area.

    Just a coupla weeks ago.

Having ran his guts out all game, that took some doing. And especially just on time-up.

It was a great goal-and he got crucified for not doing cartwheels after it,sliding towards the corner flag, celebrating wi the fans.

I was knackered just watching him.
