Being taken for a brainless clown

629

I like Alex Ferguson.  He likes his football and cannot hide the respect in which he holds Jock Stein and the great Celtic team of the 60s and 70s.  Like you and I, Alex is immersed in the history of the game here, a history he contributed significantly to at Aberdeen.

So, when questioned by the Daily Record on the potential shuttering of Hampden, his overwhelming reaction was for the loss of history:

“… leaving your history behind you

“You’re throwing away all that fantastic history

“history you are throwing away

“That’s a fantastic history

“history has been formed

“The history of Hampden is riddled with fantastic games

“We need history to tell us where we’re going”

No football fans are more immersed in history than Celtic fans, it sustained us through many a dark day, so these words will resonate with you.  But fear not, there is a solution!

They can raze Hamden to the ground and have another venue BUY THE HISTORY!  Why didn’t this occur to such a great mind?  Buying history is a fairly straightforward issue in Scotland.  I now own the Crimean War, which I purchased from a guy in Edinburgh last week.

The same vendor was selling the Renaissance, which I would love to own, as I would really like to have painted the Sistine Chapel in the 16th century, but he was wanting £1000 for that, and an internal voice told me I was being taken for a brainless clown.

I wonder how much the bookies have lost with the odds on offer for Sevco’s opponents? I got Killie at 7/1 last week and Motherwell today at 9/2.

    TET,

It’s two thirds partner. I found it hard to believe myself by that’s the correct answer.

Geariod,,yip was Mal. I know his bro Joe better, he’s a hollow leg as I swear he can’t actually drink that much.

Paddy Kelly worked for my da for quite a few years,,lovely fella and I know his wife as well. I know paddy as Sharkey.

Tontine Tim,,after the NI games the squad hit the town and got lashed and tried to pull. Stayed in city centre hotels. Mal straight after the game would go for a few pints in his old local the Roddy’s and then stay in his old bedroom in his mas house then have a family day.

Gerry Mac stayed in the hotel and never graced his oul room. On seeing Mal heading out the door by himself while the rest where hitting the town acting bigshots Gerry shouted after him away up to your Republican club in andytown. No time for that fella and neither did my late father mica drive boy or not.

Also heard billy bingim would pass a hat around for cash for himself. You were expected to kick in as his caps got your a better paydeal.

No wonder I wouldn’t entertain that shower.

  6. Hebcelt – The Saloon bar in San Fran is a great bar. I think it claims to be the oldest bar in US. Always interesting characters in there. Probably more of a late night place and in an interesting part of town.

  7. Russia is a very religious (orthodox) country.

Discouraged during communist times but the church has always been a central part of Russian life.

Your explanation gave three scenarios, that makes it 66.666, but there are only two scenarios given the fact he already has a boy, no way can that be spun to make it 2/3, it’s 1/1 all day long.

    Quiz books can be wrong.

    TEt ,

Before replying i looked at the question and answer again.

I makes sense to me when phrased like that,,and I believe that wiki link SFTB put up on the subject explains it even better than the small answer in the book.

It is a strange one as like I said I genuinely thought every kid was a 50 50 but when you look at the bigger picture ie more than one kid then you’ve moved away from 50 50.

    Does this help.? ;)

Ernie Lynch if around,,,you agree two thirds?

    Hail Hail

  10. Jeepers Mahe really stirred it up with that question.

What I want to know what difference it made that the Dad was a King.

It still matters not, I have been a gambler for nigh on 50 years, dealing with figures daily for nearly 50 years gives me a small insight into odds, it’s 1/1 all day long, stat people could make it whatever they want but it doesn’t change the fact it 1/1.
