I’m sure many of you will remember the home game against Dundee in April 2001. We needed a win to be able to secure the title the following week, at home, against St Mirren. After the game Martin O’Neill sounded irritated at the anxiety in the crowd, oblivious to the fact that the loss of a late goal would have denied many of us the opportunity to be there when the title was won.
If you’ve been there for the highs (Aberdeen) and lows (Kilmarnock) of the league season you’ve earned a ticket to the party. Let’s hope the SPL deliver a home game next, as reported.
Apologies for the extended downtime yesterday. Plans are afoot for five new servers to load-balance CQN (which sounds a lot right now but we’ve had similar thoughts before).
Let the record show that the death of Margaret Thatcher brought CQN down longer than when Rangers did the decent thing. Was hearing the news a ‘JFK moment’? I was in the wee room at the time, a treat for all the senses, so I’m not sure how my memory will handle the situation…. mostly audio.

Caling someone a F****** F**** is worse than a racist remark in Scotland.

Was over for the Aberdeen Hugh’s and Killie lows !! Wasn’t planning on getting over again but will price the flights – I’veearneditcsc.
bsr,
I was standing to the left of the bus that night.
Not sure if I saw you, unless you were. The wee gave whinging about wanting chips and asking your dad who were we playing.
This wee fella had a skint nose, from falling off his bike the night before. : < )
!!Bada Bing!!,
In that case I’ve no idea – sorry!
I heard the news about Thatcher when I was in the car and a newsflash came on the radio – while Luigi Macari was giving his opinions on Scottish football.
My reaction to the death was: a bottle of white or a bottle of red?
I have no doubt the SFA will deem it appropriate to hold a minute’s silence at the weekend before the cup semi-finals … they really are that out of touch.

Thanks for info.
Found it.
I had fast forwarded past it several times.
These pundits were amongst those who were excusing Green’s utterances because he had shares to sell.

The FA aren’t. The SFA would just be guilty of mischief if they even thought about it.
The GB will have a banner for Thatcher. No doubt about that. That will keep them in the news. I would imagine it will be a belter if it keeps up with some of their recent efforts.

Like you, I expect that a minutes silence will be called for….but, no they are not ‘that out of touch’…. they will do it, fully expecting (hoping) that some (many) will not observe it, which in their minds, will give them another piece of dirt to throw on Celtic and/or the fans.
To counter this … the Club should insist that, if her passing is to be commemorated, it should be with a minute’s applause…. this way, they wont be able to distinguish those who are showing polite respect from those who are celebrating her passing ….

Ha – you remembered. DVD being saved for Friday as I’ve another o̶l̶e̶ ̶t̶i̶m̶e̶r̶
mature Tim wanting to see it.
According to BBC website there are no minutes silences planned for Thatcher in English soccer or cricket grounds this weekend. I can’t see why Scotland would wanna be any different.
Margaret Thatcher: No silence from football and cricket
The Premier League and Football League will not be asking clubs to hold a one-minute’s silence in memory of Baroness Thatcher at their upcoming fixtures.
The former prime minister died in London on Monday, aged 87, after suffering a stroke.
Lady Thatcher was Conservative prime minister from 1979 to 1990 and won three successive general elections.
The county cricket season starts on Wednesday but so far no team has any plans to mark Lady Thatcher’s passing.
There was no minute’s silence before Monday night’s Manchester derby between Manchester United and Manchester City.
As well as Premier League games this weekend, the FA Cup semi-finals take place at Wembley, which come under the auspices of the Football Association.
It is understood the FA has no plans at present to mark Lady Thatcher’s death.
One minute silences were not held in the Premier League when former Prime Ministers James Callaghan and Edward Heath died, although respects were paid after the death of the Queen Mother.
It will be left to individual clubs to decide whether they want to pay tribute

Was going to be a smart ass and tell you that you were wrong ……. Then when I started writing, my brain kicked in and I realised you were right…. Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Mike in Toronto,
It’s fairly easy to distinguish booing from applause.
Rieperman
Yes… but when some are applauding what she did, and others are applauding because the witch is dead, it isn’t so easy…. boxing clever, you know?.
But I see Mart’s post… so it is possible that it wont be the case… but with the SFA, I do think they look for excuses/ways to try to make the club look bad (at least in their eyes), and I would be shocked if they dont seize upon this.
LiviBhoy 14:33 on 9 April, 2013
She was despised as much in Edinburgh, Dundee and Falkirk as she was in Glasgow. No minute’s silence will be observed at either semi-final. But the SFA are clueless, as well as corrupt.
Mike in Toronto 14:34 on 9 April, 2013
I don’t think Celtic need to make any statement. The antipathy towards her goes way beyond football. A minute’s applause will do nothing the hide the resentment.

I want my pint glass made of this stuff
All this hullabaloo with Chuck and Whyte put me in mind of an Alex Thommo blog from last year. It seemed strange at the time that more wasn’t made of it. In light of recent revelations it appears it could have some significance. Apologies in advance if this has been raised and explained already but I haven’t been around for a while:

Wonder if greengo’s racist remarks were carefully orchestrated to divert attention away from
His fraudulent takeover…
His sacking of Durrant & co
His disreputable attendance at the St Mirren game, linked with St Mirren’s change of heart
Or is he just losing the plot….?
Mike in Toronto,
I agree, they will take any chance afforded them to make Celtic look bad.

I think it has simply reached the stage where Charlatan believes he can do as he pleases and get away with it.
And why wouldn’t he? That’s what has been happening since he arrived at Ibrox anyway.
And if Charlatan feels the Zombies are about to turn on him all he has to do is say: ‘no surrender’ to win back their affections.
The easiest gig he has ever had…
Still no post split fixtures?
