Being there

1087

I’m sure many of you will remember the home game against Dundee in April 2001. We needed a win to be able to secure the title the following week, at home, against St Mirren. After the game Martin O’Neill sounded irritated at the anxiety in the crowd, oblivious to the fact that the loss of a late goal would have denied many of us the opportunity to be there when the title was won.

If you’ve been there for the highs (Aberdeen) and lows (Kilmarnock) of the league season you’ve earned a ticket to the party. Let’s hope the SPL deliver a home game next, as reported.

Apologies for the extended downtime yesterday. Plans are afoot for five new servers to load-balance CQN (which sounds a lot right now but we’ve had similar thoughts before).

Let the record show that the death of Margaret Thatcher brought CQN down longer than when Rangers did the decent thing. Was hearing the news a ‘JFK moment’? I was in the wee room at the time, a treat for all the senses, so I’m not sure how my memory will handle the situation…. mostly audio.

  1. Timtanium: my test came back abnormal b4 Xmas, had colonoscopy after two further tests, pollip removed which had 95% chance of becoming the big C, got the all clear two weeks ago.

Bhoys & ghirls don’t ignore screening test kit, it could be a life saver.

I wouldn’t go near the EPL mate. Giggs gave away the first goal last night.

MUCH better players than EPL standard of all ages in other markets.

On a personal note, Giggs had his coffers filled by our travelling support for one of his testemonials, his thanks, he shamelessly dived to win a penalty against us at old trafford in the CL when we lost there 2-3. He is also a horrible human.

  3. I have just emailed the SFA regarding the recent racist comments by Mr Green (copy attached) however I wont hold my breath waiting for a reply.

    Dear Sirs,

I find it strange and disconcerting that you consider racist language and it’s usage as less important and has less of a priority than swearing.

Swearing, unless it’s by Neil Lennon it seems , is a more normal and accepted part of football life than racism.

Whilst writing I would also be obliged if you could let me know the outcome of your investigation into the extreme racist and sectarian chanting that went on at Ibrox Stadium during the last match ever played there by Rangers Football Club the season prior to the current one.

Perhaps you could also clarify your perception of exactly what liquidation means. You seem to be pursuing the notion that the current incumbents at Ibrox stadium are the same club as the previous club, which was liquidated last year. This is clearly not the case.

Please accept this as a formal complaint about the racist language utilised recently in public by Mr Charles Green and let me know by return what you intend to do about it.

I look forward to receiving your response by return.

    Best regards

What’s the story with Durrant & McDowell?

Between them they are costing Crazy Chuck over £125k a year. He wants rid of Sally an forcing him to get rid of the 2 of them, he hopes will force Sally to quit.

    Thereby. No compensation.

This time I have been advised by my specialist there is no need as im going through ongoing treatment for other condition and he has all the test results and intrusive details he needs.

I remember years ago the Billy Connely joke about Getting to an age when the doctor lost interest in the front of you and took an overwhelming interest in your backside, GOING RIGHT OVER MY HEAD :)) I get it now .

  6. Lhads, getting married in September, but we have a problem getting a place for an evening reception. We’re looking for a bowling club but a lot seem to only hire out on a Friday not a Saturday. Anyone got any ideas?

  7. no doubt that MSM will do their best to demean Celtic winnng the league , if not they will still try somehow to involve the dead club

  8. ianbhoy929- good news mate.

Just completed my hat trick of colonoscopy, endoscopy and cystoscopy. More pictures been taken of my inside than my outside.

  9. the fixture list is astonishing to say the least – creates NO drama and entertainment for the fans – Scottish football authorities are a self serving , arrogant body who have ruined our game from grass roots to professional level. If there should be any more demonstrations is should be standing outside the doors of the obsolete hampden park offices!

  10. Not much scope to play young players with 3 of the last 4 matches away on poor pitches!

SPL and SKY care nothing about football supporters.

IanBhoy929-Good luck, done the test a few months back and got result back in a couple of days, all clear thankfully.

I have had 4 replies already from James Kelly’s secretary, Keiron. Was it something you said? :-)

Anyways, they did insist on full address and post code disclosure before expanding on their reply.

Glad to see posters talking about this – I am sure everyone has a tale to tell.

I make a habit now of ‘nudging’ my older friends not to ignore it – think its a bit of a ‘macho’ thing with some of us – feel OK so don’t bother with test or going to doctors.

Think the age limit is to do with the trauma/ ability of the bowel to cope if there is a need for major surgery.

Preventative medicine – take the test!

“to be fair it has been successful thus far but even NL has stated the need for a few mature signings. If we sell some big players (as expected) I would hope we don’t just buy ‘potential’. If we do we will never move forward in Europe, and would have peaked already, I would like to see us aim for last 8. For sure it is a balancing act but what use is a healthy bank balance without ambition on the field. Buy kids for future but use some transfer money to bring in a bit of expierience.”

I reckon we’ll be looking for some experience, while continuing with the ‘development’ policy.

I don’t think we have any option to be honest.

Six early Sunday kick offs in a row.

Right , better get practising that swing for all the Saturday medals.

  18. Meanwhile over at Billy Bragg’s FB page:

“Thanks to everybody who took the time to post abusive comments about me here today. I’m going to leave them all up as reminder of the kind of people who support Margaret Thatcher and her spiteful party.”

Now he has some idea what it might be like if he crossed the zombies!

The Billy Connelly bit is so true! :-)

I think it was the big screen TV (in colour) that threw me (got 2 done while semi-comatose) and the stuff they give you to drink is not to be recommended.

Got the all clear (after surgery) but am now on the routine check-up cycle – which I am happy to say I can live with.

I wouldn’t go near Giggs either – because I don’t think he would be the answer for us.

On the other point – Giggs did not dive to get a penalty against us – he didn’t even claim for a penalty.

Giggs pulled up with a hamstring tear and was out for six weeks after that – it’s not his fault the referee was a diddy.

Big story in the Newcastle press after the riot was of some huns attacking a Geordie fan in a wheelchair. Even my Oldco mates who were there said it was terrifying. Bobby Robson also said about 10 years ago that they would not be welcomed back, after their vile hymnsheet was belted out at a friendly.

I think the Scottish Government are trying to use humour to promote the programme to a normally reluctant audience or at least raise awareness

The song coupled with the advert with the voice of the Big Man over it is aimed at guys like you and me and most on here nearing the age of 50+ and probably in the lower(ish) parts of the socio-economic groupings.

    Take the Test!

  23. Just emailed SPL about their shamoblic effort at scheduling post split fixtures.

Particularly scheduling Motherwell (on ESPN) 2 days before Celtic game thus potentially denying fans and TV sponsors a bumper day on the Sunday – and Hibs v Aberdeen also on ESPN on Monday? Go figure – likened it to a intern’s summer project.
