BELGIANS EYE CELT

BELGIAN giants Anderlecht lead a host of top European clubs keen to snatch chief talent scout Lee Congerton from Celtic, according to Sky Sports.

The 45-year old Welshman has also been linked to a reunion with Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City after first working with the ex-Hoops boss at Chelsea in 2005.

Congerton was appointed chief scout at Stamford Bridge by then-Director of Football Frank Arnesen, with Rodgers acting as reserve-team coach.

After similar roles at SV Hamburg and Sunderland, Congerton joined up with the Irishman at Parkhead two years ago.

Congerton may be tempted to work again with former Ajax ace Arnesen, after their spell at the Bundesliga outfit. The formeer Ajax ace is now sporting director at Anderlecht.

Two MLS clubs are also trying to hire the Scottish Champions’ Head of Recruitment.

He has been credited with bringing in several first team players including Odsonne Edouard and Olivier Ntcham. He was also reported to be behind the loan signings of Timothy Weah, from Paris Saint-Germain, Jeremy Toljan, Borussia Dortmind, and Oliver Burke, West Brom, who arrived in January.

Rodgers’ chief scout at the mid-table side is Eduardo Macia, whose contract at the King Power Stadium expires this summer.

Former Celtic super scout John Park has already been mentioned with a possible return to the Hoops. He had a good working relationship with interim gaffer Neil Lennon first time around.
