Belgians premature

1296

The Belgian league put the cat amongst the waffles yesterday by declaring the Jupiler League over and Bruges champions.  They sorted out their TV and other commercial arrangements and can start next season as soon as it is safe to do so.

There are very few calls to cut seasons short.  Tight leagues, such as in Italy and Spain, would forever  have questions hanging over them, while those assured of winning the title, as in Scotland and England, want to do so on the field, not at a league meeting.  Still, it was nice to see panic among the Null and Voiders, who would rather everyone lost than anyone (Celtic) won.

The Belgians have been pragmatic but premature, football is finished for the season, their champions are assured without controversy and they will accommodate those threatened with relegation.  The rest of Europe still clings to the hope that competition can start behind closed doors in the summer.  It will next month before we know if this is possible, there is no reason to make decisions before then.

Anybody watched Frontier on Netflix – Canadian beaver wars nd squabbles – The english are baddies, the irish are sly and the scots swear a lot. there is a loyalist scotsman – kills somebody whilst jumping up and down on them shouting ‘bouncy bouncy bouncy bouncy’ – not joking. McTaggart is the character’s name – a clichéd scottish nutter/warrior/fighter – but what they do missout is the hatred of a certain group of people.

  5. Celtic have played a blinder by letting it be known they want to see the league finish and will not be supporting any move this week to call it.

The huns are hoping to play the victim card here, delay the decision for as long as possible and watching them bleed out is the right call.

  6. Interesting:

” Swedes are still able to shop, go to restaurants, get haircuts and send children under 16 to class.

On Sunday Sweden reported a total of 401 deaths so far from Covid-19, up 8% from Saturday and greater than the totals of its three Nordic neighbours combined. Sweden’s toll per million inhabitants is 37, compared with 28 in Denmark, 12 in Norway and 4.5 in Finland.”

Why haven’t the media and our politicians been asking these questions?

We are going into week 3 of lockdown- police state.

So many people are going to be seriously feeling the pinch.

Jobs gone -many forever- businesses folding. A world recession is now inevitable.

A virus that seems to be like a nasty flu . A small percentage of us in the vunerable category might die.

Why isn’t there questioning ? There is some agenda at play but as yet I’m not quite sure what it is.

A few extra deaths has to be balanced against that they will still have a functioning country when this is past. The lockdown countries on the other and will be so damaged that it it will surely take years to get back to where we were. If certain elements have their way we will never get it back.

Being a supporter of the UK royal family is incompatible with being a Celtic supporter?

    100% yes.

Is this the quote which gave rise to your post:

“A source said: “Celtic’s position is very clear. We have always wanted the league season to be completed and that remains our view. If there is any chance of playing the games and finishing the season over the summer then that’s what we would prefer.” ?

If so, do you happen to know who the `source` is?

  22. lets all do the huddle on

the current situation of restrictions on our freedoms v economic damage v saving lives is hardly a new concept that governments have had to deal with

if you consider things like bevvy, fags, driving, and involvment in middle east wars –

these are all things which do and have cost untold numbers of lives and untold amounts of cash over the years – all of which could have been prevented if we werent allowed to drink, smoke, drive cars and stayed out of the middle east

but decades of governments have decided that the lives and money that those things have cost is a price worth paying for the sake of our personal freedoms and to maintain our economic status

the current situation is just another example of such a discussion of how to balance those things
