CELTIC loan flop Jo Inge Berget has been given the boot by Cardiff City.

The Norwegian attacker has left the club by mutual consent with immediate effect.

Berget made his debut for the Hoops in the disastrous 4-1 Champions League qualifier from Legia Warsaw in July only 48 hours after his arrival at Parkhead. .

He made eight appearances in total and scored two goals, both in the 6-1 win over Dundee United in August.

Ronny Deila returned his fellow-countryman to the Welsh club when his temporary deal expired at the start of this month.

Berget joined the Championship side from Molde in January 2014, but failed to secure a regular first team place under new boss Russell Slade and played only two first team games last season.

The 24-year-old is now likely to agree a contract with Norwegian minnows Honefoss whose ground capacity is 4,256.
